Simpson Secrets are aimed squarely at our more adventurous guests who revel in the feeling of being truly off the beaten track, happy to slow down and take the inevitable eccentricities of small island life in their stride. Exquisite Anti Paxos is just such an island, measuring a petite 12 square kilometres and reachable only by boat from neighbouring Paxos. Blessed with two glorious Caribbean-esque white beaches and a translucent turquoise sea, a stay here is an invitation to discover a place far removed from the 21st century. There are no proper roads, no shops and just five tavernas which open only at lunchtime, but for those in search of peace and natural beauty, this is a truly special place.
Our Simpson Secret is a romantic, open-plan bolthole with sublime sea views, just a seven-minute walk from the bay below. Although not luxurious, all your creature comforts are provided, including regular hot water, comfortable beds, quality linen and a contemporary kitchen, plus a small private plunge pool on the terrace for cooling off whilst sipping that decadent holiday cocktail. As evening falls and the day visitors depart, a deep silence descends and the timeless magic of Anti Paxos shines as brightly as the distant stars above.
On arrival from Paxos (20 minutes by boat) you’ll pick up a Suzuki Jeep and be shown the way to your accommodation. The Jeep is provided by the owner and is at your disposal for the duration of the holiday and makes a fun way to explore some of the island’s tracks, though bear in mind that Vrika beach and tavernas are a 30-minute walk from the nearest point that you can drive to and Voutoumi beach is reached by approximately 130 steps. With this in mind, we’ve also included a couple of bicycles, plus a helpful pre-shopping service for groceries. There’s a daily public sea taxi from Voutoumi and Vrika beaches to Paxos (weather permitting), and our local representative on Paxos can be contacted by phone if required. Bring a snorkel, walking shoes and a sense of adventure and you won’t be disappointed.
For holidays booked from 28 May to 11 June and 17-24 September the tavernas on Anti Paxos may not be open. However, additional shopping orders from Paxos can be telephoned through to our representative with delivery to the cottage for €60 plus cost of food. The daily sea taxis from Vrika and Voutoumi to Paxos run from mid-June to mid-September.

We have just experienced the most wonderful fortnight in Greece. My first trip to Greece and the bar has been set extremely high. We spent our first week at White Orchid in Sivota and it was absolutely perfect. Stuart, the Simpson Travel concierge, made us feel as though we were being looked after by incredibly attentive friends. Vanda Suite was wonderful and the setting amazing. We visited Meteora and Metsovo one day, but were more than happy to be at White Orchid as it was such a lovely place to relax. We then moved to the Simpson Secret - Anti Paxos and what bliss. The island and the villa are spectacular. We saw a huge range of wildlife and just enjoyed watching the world go by on the Ionian Sea, walking down the path and swimming in crystal clear waters. We have had the most restful holiday ever and would like to thank everyone at Simpson Travel who made it possible. Their attention to detail is second to none. Thank you.
J Cumming – June 2018
Wow! What a fantastic tranquil spot this is, and such a glorious view! This is the perfect retreat from the hustle, bustle and stresses of everyday life back home. We have pretty much walked all over the island from Vrika to the Lighthouse and many of the paths that intersect. The people here are super friendly. We both hope that you also enjoy your holiday at this most relaxing of places to be.
Carole & Steve – September 2017
This Simpson Secret is perfect. We literally have done nothing, apart from snorkel in the turquoise waters of the Ionian below the house. Thousands of fish and wonderful shells to be found in the gloriously warm sea! We had some delicious food cooked on the barbecue, homemade burgers, kebabs accompanied by fresh salad...yum! We have really enjoyed 'getting away from it all'.
Mel & Tracy – August 2017
This Secret is exactly that – a haven of peace and quiet with fantastic views. We have had a great week with long walks to Vrika which takes about 50 minutes. We love the sandy beach there. Shorter walks to Voutoumi, pebbly beach which was empty when we went at 4pm – swimming great. Sad to leave, plenty of barbecue fuel left – we had several. Another great Simpson Travel holiday.
Maureen & Richard Field – September 2016
Last year we spent three weeks here. This year we have been here for four weeks. This, I think, is testament to how we feel about Anti Paxos. There aren't enough adjectives to describe this place. All we know is that we have been privileged to spend one month with people of the kindest and most generous disposition. The inhabitants of Anti Paxos – their hospitality and trust comes from the time of our childhood and we hope any other visitors here will extend the same graciousness and respect that they show us, the more affluent visitors. We will miss the peace and tranquillity. Enjoy!
Susan & John Reynolds – September 2016
We have enjoyed our week – watching the boats/ships come and go including the small boats searching out hidden coves. For a couple aged 70+ it has been adventurous – we haven't used the mountain bike, I'll leave that to our 13-year-old grandson who has no sense of fear. All in all a great relaxing week reading and sleeping as well as walking and the occasional swim in the sea.
The Raven Family – July 2016
Our first holiday with Simpson Travel, very impressed and a step up from other tour operators in the area. To fly in and out of Heathrow on British Airways was the icing on the cake and a huge plus point in looking to book next year...and the year after!
Mr Wood – August 2015
An enjoyable week and proof that romance and a sense of adventure live on for those aged 60+. We love the house – nicely done, everything that you could need, and of course, the view is sensational.
Mr Davies – June 2015
We felt honoured to be the pioneers to stay at Simpson Secret - Anti Paxos – what a privilege! We had an awesome week full of adventure, sun and relaxation. The house is amazing – we enjoyed most evenings in the plunge pool cooling down from the day.
Mrs Westby – June 2015
Our choice of Greek properties is as diverse as the islands themselves, ranging from simple seaside charm to genuine luxury and style. Much of our portfolio is privately owned, and price alone is therefore not a universal guide. We contract all our accommodation in person, and each property has its individual appeal. To help you make the right choice based on your own priorities, we have devised a simple grading guide to be considered in conjunction with each individual property description, awarding up to a maximum of five stars for the below categories.
* For further clarification on Facilities and Amenities, please view the 'Details' tab for each property or speak to one of our experienced sales consultants.
There are few better ways of relaxing than on a luxury holiday in Paxos, where days fill up beautifully with sunbathing, swimming, snorkelling and dining in style, the sea just metres from your table. Amble through ancient olive groves and you’ll catch glimpses of startlingly turquoise bays, the dramatic west-coast cliffs or the Epiros Mountains. In spring, there’s also a haze of purple honesty, wild irises and lilies and a sky that’s alive with birdlife, from hawks to skylarks.
