Paxos is exquisite, a superlative spot to simply rest, relax and recharge batteries depleted by day-to-day life. Yet despite its obvious natural attractions and enviable selection of private villas, this island has precious few hotels.
As the name suggests, Purple Apricot presents a rather irreverent take on the standard hotel style, refreshingly unconventional and aimed at those who value individuality and personal service. Each suite is an eclectic one-off; bohemian, flamboyant and a touch exotic, all individually styled by designer Jaxx Russell Flint, who lives on the island for part of the year and understands perfectly Paxos' laid-back appeal.
The emphasis is on rich colours and textures both inside and out, a vibrant tapestry to fire all the senses. At the heart of the hotel is the swimming pool with delightful sea views and a comfortable relaxation area festooned with bright floor cushions and adorned with Eastern-inspired tables, lanterns and candles as day melts into dusk. Breakfast is served under a silvery canopy of trees and the gardens are subtly landscaped to create private spaces for rest and contemplation. Yet however relaxed the atmosphere, the Simpson standards are maintained, thanks to our own concierge who personally oversees the running of the hotel.
By combining exciting new design with our traditional hallmarks of warmth, friendliness and unobtrusive professionalism, Purple Apricot has proved a very successful addition to our Simpson Hotel portfolio: our own collection of hotels with soul and a passion for personal service, regardless of star rating. In order to preserve an atmosphere of calm for all, we have designated it an adult only hotel, aimed at couples, groups and anyone who relishes a calmer, grown-up environment.

This was our first Simpson holiday but will not be our last and we will highly recommend it to our family and friends. Purple Apricot was perfect and our hosts (David and Steph) were exceptional. I would stay at other locations just because they were the hosts.
Susan Nebard – September 2019
Another wonderful week at our favourite destination. Little changes on the island and yet we are still surprised by new experiences. David and Steph are excellent hosts providing lovely breakfasts, offering good advice on restaurants and had walks for us to explore new areas of the island. A perfect week of R&R.
Chris & Anne Woodhead – September 2019
David and Steph were instrumental in making this an extremely enjoyable holiday. Simpson Service excellent as usual.
Simpson Traveller – September 2019
Another fantastic stay at Purple Apricot with its beautiful pool, quirky rooms, delicious three course breakfasts and outstanding concierge service. Steph and David will make you welcome! The location is perfect, too; you can be anywhere on the island quickly and easily.
Simpson Traveller – August 2019
An absolutely fabulous stay at Purple Apricot. The Simpson staff were brilliant at making sure the whole experience from beginning to end was seamless – from the reps at the airport, to the ports, to our lovely hotel managers. David and Steph were fabulous hosts – what breakfasts! – and we'd definitely book again both with Simpson and with the same hotel. A huge thank you to everyone for making it a really relaxing and memorable holiday that exceeded our expectations.
Hugh & Wendy Martin – August 2019
Our first visit to Paxos and we leave feeling relaxed and refreshed having spent a week on this beautiful island. We have been delighted by Purple Apricot, not least because of the kindness and care provided by David and Steph, who really are marvellous hosts. From the moment we stepped off the hydrofoil at the port feeling very hot and tired, we knew we were in good hands and this continued all week.
Graham & Helen – July 2019
This has been a wonderful holiday for us both. The hotel is a real gem. David and Stephanie have a wealth of knowledge about all the places to see and beaches to explore. They really couldn’t have been more helpful and welcoming if they tried. Medina has everything you would need and is truly stylish!
Karen & Phil – July 2019
A lovely restful stay at Purple Apricot with no compromise on quality. The hosts, David and Steph, work extremely hard to ensure you get the most from your stay, whilst being highly knowledgeable, friendly and professional. They are the icing in the cake!
Simpson Traveller – July 2019
Paxos and the whole experience of staying on the island and at Purple Apricot with Simpson Travel was exceptional and an unforgettable holiday.
Mr O'Shea – July 2019
First visit to Paxos for us both and so glad we chose to stay at Purple Apricot. Steph and David have been first class hosts. Their friendliness and thoughtfulness have in no small part made this one of the best holidays we have had. They simply want their guests to have a wonderful holiday. This was achieved – 100%. They are both a mine of useful/helpful information. A small island with so much to see and do.
Vanessa & Kirk – June 2019
We’ve had a wonderful two weeks – it really is a superb hotel, great location and expertly run by David and Steph. They are both excellent hosts.
Alan & Josie – June 2019
As a hotel experience, the Purple Apricot is excellent. The Simpson hosts, David and Steph, are beyond excellent with exemplary service provided for every minute of our stay. Just a fantastic experience all round.
Angela Wedgwood – June 2019
People make a holiday. David and Steph were exceptional. Although Purple Apricot was close to paradise, these two angels were helped by their local cherubims, who were also utterly charming.
Bill & Miranda Wakely – June 2019
Purple Apricot is very well situated and beautifully appointed. The hotel’s managers, David and Steph, were extremely helpful, knowledgeable of their locale and charming. The breakfasts they prepared and served were excellent. We loved the peace and tranquillity of Purple Apricot and particularly appreciate the fact that it wasn't spoilt by the use of 'musak'.
Mr & Mrs Bowers – Distant Plains – June 2019
Purple Apricot is a joy. Apart from the great facilities and position, the care and support provided by the representatives, Stephanie and David Cowley, was outstanding throughout – the phrase 'beyond the call of duty' is often overused but certainly not in their case. Simpson should be proud of their example. Their judgement was just right at all times. One should add that the whole process of both journeys, which required complex transfers and ferries, were handled by Simpson representatives effectively.
Mr and Mrs Moult – Pure Victoria – May 2019
We have had a wonderfully relaxing time at Purple Apricot. Steph and David are exceptional hosts and have made us feel so welcome. Thanks also to Lydia and Sylvia for looking after us so well. We will recommend Purple Apricot to all our friends.
The Westons – High Skies – May 2019
A wonderful stay in Medina. David and Steph made us so welcome and could not have been more helpful. We have walked the island from top to bottom which we highly recommend and had a great day hiring a boat from Loggos. Lakka and Loggos are real gems – so friendly and fantastic food. You are in for a treat. Thank you.
Rachel & David Hunter – Medina – May 2019
Our holiday at Purple Apricot was truly special and one we will never forget. We fell in love with the island and explored its length and breadth with the excellent information provided by David and Steph and fuelled by the amazing breakfast and homemade cakes. Thank you.
Lucy & Roger – October 2018
This was our sixth holiday with Simpson Travel and we thought the others were good but Purple Apricot exceeded all our expectations. The accommodation has been carefully and thoughtfully set out and each room decorated with attention to detail. The breakfast prepared by Steph was a reason to get up each morning and David and she offered an excellent service. Nothing was too much trouble. Paxos is an easy island to drive round but we made the most of Purple Apricot and never really ventured very far. Why would we?
Frank Winslett – Serenity – October September 2018
Paxos is a wonderful island and Purple Apricot provides the perfect location from which to enjoy and explore this jewel. It is convenient to everywhere and a joy to return to at the end of a day spent discovering the sleepy harbours, rugged coastline, dramatic scenery and a wealth of friendly tavernas. We enjoyed several peaceful walks surrounded by olive groves, dipping down to white pebbled beaches and climbing up to historic windmills. In the words of Phil Collins "just another day in paradise".
Deborah & Phil Walters – September 2018
What differentiated Simpson Travel from other holiday companies was the care and friendliness of the Simpson Travel personnel and especially the attention to detail that was shown. It might not sound significant but it makes all the difference. When choosing staff for overseas locations Simpson Travel must take special care in choosing the people and this shows when they are interfacing with guests. The organisational abilities were second to none and we never came across a problem with our multiple cars, water taxis and ferries. There was always someone from Simpson to guide us on our way. Also the locations that Simpson Travel has managed to find tick all the boxes for seasoned travellers.
Tony & Carole – September 2018
If you want a get-away-from-it-all spot, it's got to be Purple Apricot! Big rooms, stunning position, and the flexibility of doing your own self-catering rather than eating out every meal.
Martin Young – Purple Rain – September 2018
Paxos and Purple Apricot in particular, were a delight. Steph and David were fabulous in every way without ever being intrusive. We will be back!
Mr & Mrs Preston – Serenity – September 2018
We had the perfect holiday at Purple Apricot – lovely hotel – lovely staff – lovely rooms – a haven of peace and tranquillity and very stylish. We can't recommend it enough.
Dallas Smith – Safari – September 2018
Purple Apricot is a piece of paradise on an island where time really has stood still...magical!
Michelle Barkess – Safari – August 2018
Our expectations of a repeated excellent experience at Purple Apricot were well and truly met by David (great advice) and Steph (great food) who were both keen to make sure we were happy with everything within their control. Our friends found the whole holiday as delightful as we'd told them it would be, so another successful Simpson Travel holiday in the bag! A great format and one we look forward to repeating in another of their similar boutique hotels in due course.
Mr & Mrs Vincent – Purple Rain – August 2018
We had a fantastic holiday at Purple Apricot and were really impressed by the warm but very professional service provided by the Simpson Travel team. Steph and David are outstanding hosts and the hotel is a great place to relax and a good base from which to explore the island.
Mrs Gardner – Distant Plains – August 2018
Purple Apricot is an indulgent delight to the senses! From walking through the Moorish gate which opens onto an exotic vista, to the individual suites that are colourful and striking with artistic flair. A wonderful ambience in which to spend a relaxing holiday.
Mrs Zeffert – Medina – August 2018
Simpson Travel were exceptional from start to finish. The holiday booking was quick and painless and actually made talking to a person on the phone, how lovely! When we arrived in Paxos, we were greeted by Steph, who was the host at the hotel. Our car hire was ready and waiting, no paperwork to fill in, this had all been taken care of before. The hotel is perfect. David and Steph were fantastic hosts and cooked the most delicious breakfast each morning. The hotel is tranquil, a beautiful pool area, lovely sunbeds and towels – a little oasis. Our room, Purple Rain, was simply stunning. This was our second trip with Simpson Travel and staying at Purple Apricot and would 100% recommend it. We will be back!
Mrs Marsh – Purple Rain – August 2018
Purple Apricot is a gem of a boutique hotel, set on the idyllic island of Paxos. If you're looking for a holiday to get away from it all, with stylish accommodation, friendly service, authentic Greek tavernas and a low key atmosphere, then this is the place to come to. We will certainly use Simpson Travel again, they have been delightful.
Victoria & Dom Watson – Pure Victoria – August 2018
I would like to extend my thanks for a magical experience at Purple Apricot. I can recommend Simpson Travel to anyone considering a holiday with them. A seamless experience throughout. Thank you.
Mrs Hemmings – Medina – August 2018
Simpson travel offers a fabulous service and well-researched accommodation. Paxos is a beautiful island, and Purple Apricot is a very special hotel – comfortable and peaceful. The trip exceeded my already high expectations. I travelled with my 22-year-old daughter – we both loved it, and plan to return to Paxos next year with the rest of the family.
Jenny Crellin – July 2018
Purple Apricot is an excellent hotel, Paxos is a beautiful island and we had a wonderfully relaxing and indulgent time after a busy and stressful year. It was quite simply the best and given the choice, I would not holiday with any other company. I am delighted to have discovered Simpson Travel.
Graham, Kay & Kit – Purple Rain – July 2018
A lovely stay at Purple Apricot enhanced by David and Step’s great hospitability and breakfast cooking! Paxos – a lovely unspoilt corner of Greece. We would love to come back. We can recommend taking a boat all around the island and swimming in a quiet cove. We moored at Mongonissi beach for lunch at the taverna. Great walks too.
David & Pam – Safari – July 2018
It was out first holiday using Simpson Travel, I hope it will not be the last. Steph and David at Purple Apricot were fantastic hosts! From their very warm welcome, their splendid service and willingness to help and advise; nothing was too much trouble for them. I should also mention the two ladies that assisted them and served us so well, Lydia and Sylvia. Our only regret was that our stay was only for one week instead of two.
Ian & Isobel Wallace – Safari – July 2018
Very many thanks to David and Steph for all their help in every way. We felt at home straightaway, surrounded by friendly, like-minded people. We would recommend Erimitis Bar at sunset and a boat trip round the island – it’s a lovely way to see the rocky west side of the island.
Liz & Stephen Crowne – Pure Victoria – June 2018
This was our second time to Purple Apricot so we knew what to expect. Purple Rain is a lovely room with a balcony that we love a lot. Steph and David provided all the support and information we required, cheerfully and efficiently. Steph’s breakfast are amazing – delicious, plentiful and beautifully presented: the perfect start to a day.
Kathryn & Peter – Purple Rain – June 2018
Purple Apricot is a delight and an excellent member of the Simpson Travel Adult Only hotels. David and Steph exemplify the ethos of caring hosts who really go the extra mile to ensure their guests have the most enjoyable of stays. Paxos is a gem, and we were pleased to note the addition of further Simpson Travel properties on the island. Certainly food for thought for future holidays. Last, but not least, the transfer teams were, as ever, very helpful and cheery. Thank you for another excellent holiday.
John & Jane Reynolds – Pure Victoria – July 2018
Paxos and Purple Apricot never fail to delight. Thank you to David and Steph for helping to make our fifth visit to Paxos a holiday to remember. Paxos is an island we have come to love; total relaxation, a chance to recharge the batteries with good food, lovely pebble beaches, super swimming, snorkelling and walks along donkey tracks with stunning views. An island full of surprises and wonderful people.
Mr & Mrs Woodhead – Serenity – June 2018
We had a week at the Purple Apricot Hotel in Paxos which we thoroughly enjoyed. David & Steph are excellent hosts. The breakfasts under the olive trees were a real highlight. The pool was beautifully positioned and in excellent condition throughout. We had a most enjoyable and relaxing week for our late honeymoon.
David & Sue Leather – High Skies – June 2018
This was our third trip with Simpson Travel and our second to Purple Apricot. Once again thoroughly enjoyed our time on the island, despite the weather being somewhat mixed. Thank you to David and Steph who were our new hosts and who can’t do enough for you. Thanks also to Steph for the lovely breakfasts!
Owen & Nina – Pure Victoria – June 2018
Purple Apricot is simply a beautiful, tranquil and peaceful haven on a quiet, unspoilt island. Breakfast is served under the olive trees and the food is individual, local and fresh. David and Steph are the perfect hosts but never obtrusive. The ambience and décor is tasteful with an Eastern touch – candles and lamps creating a calming atmosphere. Go to totally unwind and relax in a beautiful place.

This has been our fourth visit to Paxos over a 12-year period and we still love it! Purple Apricot is a lovely little boutique hotel. What a wonderful week we have all had in Paxos for a wedding but our stay was made all the better by being at Purple Apricot. A beautifully designed hotel with all that one could want but in Sophie and Marco you have the perfect hosts to look after us all. The rest of the staff were delightful too. Sophie and Marco's attention to detail and the care that they gave your guests could not faulted. Thank you for taking care us of all.
Jonathan & Gabrielle – June 2017

Alan and Alias – June 2017
Our first visit to Paxos, Sophie and Marco are excellent hosts – friendly and professional, as are their helpers. Comfortable room and brilliant breakfast. The island is beautiful, the sun has shone and the sun and skies have been deep blue. We rate this the most relaxing and tranquil holiday we have ever taken and hope to come again. Simpson Travel deserves full credit for their smooth and efficient service throughout.
Jill & Roger – June 2017

It was like arriving in heaven – thank you Sophie, Marco and the team for making everything perfect! What a memorable week in this special place and gem of an island – hanging like a pearl earring at the ear of Corfu... A jewel amidst peaceful Greek islands. With all our gratitude!

Our choice of Greek properties is as diverse as the islands themselves, ranging from simple seaside charm to genuine luxury and style. Much of our portfolio is privately owned, and price alone is therefore not a universal guide. We contract all our accommodation in person, and each property has its individual appeal. To help you make the right choice based on your own priorities, we have devised a simple grading guide to be considered in conjunction with each individual property description, awarding up to a maximum of five stars for the below categories.
* For further clarification on Facilities and Amenities, please view the 'Details' tab for each property or speak to one of our experienced sales consultants.
There are few better ways of relaxing than on a luxury holiday in Paxos, where days fill up beautifully with sunbathing, swimming, snorkelling and dining in style, the sea just metres from your table. Amble through ancient olive groves and you’ll catch glimpses of startlingly turquoise bays, the dramatic west-coast cliffs or the Epiros Mountains. In spring, there’s also a haze of purple honesty, wild irises and lilies and a sky that’s alive with birdlife, from hawks to skylarks.
