The wonderful views from this delightful villa are Chianti through and through – a patchwork of neatly cultivated vineyards and olive groves draped over gently rolling hills, with the towers of Siena in the distance. And being south facing, you’ll be bathed in Tuscan sunshine from dawn ‘til dusk.
La Casa dei Mandorli enjoys as romantic a setting as you could hope to find; a perfect bijou villa for two that you can’t help but fall in love with. The spacious living/dining area with its bold modern art and contemporary lighting makes the biggest impact, while interiors of soft cream with pale tiled floors, natural wood and delicate feminine touches in the lace trim of the fabrics and pretty knick-knacks show the tremendous care and attention to detail the owners Luca and Martina brought to realising their vision for this special place.
The villa is cleverly designed so only the back wall adjoins the owner's home allowing maximum privacy and as you sit on the stone terrace, listening to the gentle flow of water over the edge of the infinity pool, there’s nothing between you and that view. However, if you want advice on places to see, Luca and Martina are happy to offer you suggestions, as well as cook you a delicious dinner should you require one (payable locally).
The local area
For dining out or stocking up, there’s the tiny hamlet of Lecchi, 2km away, with a grocery store and wine bar/restaurant. Nearer still is Ama, which has a restaurant with wine cellars and wine tasting, although the region is full of opportunities for sipping Chianti Classico.
In typical Tuscan style, there’s also a beautiful medieval town not far away. About a 20-minute drive from Lecchi, Radda in Chianti dates from the 9th century. In July the Radda 1527 festival takes place there, with food stalls and historic re-enactments. It’s just one of the lively celebrations held over the summer, blessed as you are with a location tucked snugly between the Golden Triangle of San Gimignano, Siena and Florence, the latter just over an hour’s drive away.

Thank you for sharing your perfect escape with us! We managed to totally relax, rest and eat – not venturing far as we enjoyed the amazing views and local restaurants. How lucky to have Ristorante Malborghetto and an amazing chef just down the road! Sad to leave such an idyllic sanctuary.
This was our first trip to Tuscany and it did not disappoint. The rolling hills, villages, vineyards and trees were more stunning than I thought they would be. The villa was amazing and Luca and Martina were lovely hosts providing us with fresh vegetables and a bottle of wine for their vineyard. A great holiday and we do expect to return again in the future.

The swimming pool, patio areas and hot tub have all been thoroughly enjoyed. We have stayed in the villa more than we normally would, as it has been so relaxing. Nonetheless, we ventured to San Gimignano, Florence, Greve, Volpaia and Radda enjoying the smaller towns and villages the most. Casa dei Mandorli in Tuscany was our favourite of all properties. Stunning views, a wonderful family living behind the property whose hospitality reminded you of how generous people can be. Yet another superb holiday in every respect. When you book with this company you are in safe hands reassured that customer service really is their top priority and their choice of properties second to none.

Your generosity in providing such a wonderful meal for us, as well as regular fresh vegetables from the garden, and of course the Vinsanto and the raspberry liquor, have made this the perfect escape from this plague-ridden world! The pool has been wonderfully refreshing during the day, set against the amazing view across the olive trees and vineyards, and at night has provided the perfect backdrop, with the calming light colour changes, to our evening meals. The different pace of life has helped us do less, and just be.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for an incredible week. We booked at the last minute but what a great choice it was. We have had such a relaxing and restorative stay which was made all the more special by your fantastic hospitality and warm welcome. We will never forget our first night here – sitting on the terrace with a beautiful sunset and the most delicious antipasti that you so kindly prepared for us. It is such a lovely memory and we are still talking about how delicious the courgettes bruschetta was! We were also so touched to receive the beautiful baskets of fresh fruit and vegetables from your vegetable garden and from your father’s house, not to mention the wine! We actually chose to stay at home and cook most nights as we wanted to use the fresh ingredients – so much flavour! Not even the rain on the last few days could dampen our spirits and we took some very dramatic photos of the storm. We enjoyed exploring Rada, Gaiole, Siena and taking a cooking class at Toscana Mia (very close) but still have so much to see and do, we wish we were here for a second week! Having travelled with Simpson Travel for the past five years, we were confident that our villa and location would be lovely. However, La Casa dei Mandorli exceeded all our expectations and we had the most relaxing and wonderful holiday that we have ever experienced. The villa and grounds are immaculate and, since it is nestled into the hills, surrounding vineyards and olive groves near the hamlet of Ama, we immediately felt part of rural Tuscan life. The view from the terrace is breathtaking and it was hard to tear ourselves away from it and the pool. A short drive away are the atmospheric and unspoilt villages and towns of Lecchi, Radda and Gaiole, where we enjoyed delicious meals in traditional restaurants and cafés. The most memorable meal was at the Castello di Ama restaurant, a short walk from the villa. We will also never forget the amazing cookery course in the restaurant in Lecchi – a fantastic experience! Numerous beautiful towns and the stunning city of Sienna are so easy to get to from the villa. A huge thank you to Luca and Martina who are the most welcoming hosts. Their hospitality was so generous. Cooking with Luca's vegetables from the garden was a delight. Thank you again to Simpson Travel for giving us yet another very special holiday.

We have totally fallen in love with Italy. The welcome we received at La Casa dei Mandorli was sublime. From booking the holiday to the departure, we felt in safe hands and knew we could expect a high standard with Simpson Travel.
We’ve experienced many beautiful views during our years of holidaying in Italy, but this was by far the best. Wherever you sat, inside or out, it was like looking at a perfect painting.
We went to Casa dei Mandorli for some well-needed chilled out time and our week was perfect in every way! Perfect villa, perfect hosts (thank you Luca, Martina and family), perfect scenery and for us, perfect weather. This place was definitely ‘a home from home’ but with the addition of a pool and incredible views. We would definitely visit again if the chance ever arises and will think of our stay with fond memories.
Casa dei Mandorli is lovely, with a view to die for! Luca and Martina were charming and really do go the extra mile for their guests. Sienna is inspiring, but not for the faint hearted. Go early for the Duomo and museum, but do take a walk in the gardens at the back of the University Music School. We liked the little places: San Gusmè which is perfect, quiet, unspoilt. Volpaia, Lecchi and Arezzo, which to our eyes, is more beautiful than Sienna.
We had a fantastic week in Casa dei Mandorli. Luca and Martina are wonderful hosts and couldn’t have been friendlier. We visited all the usual Tuscan favourites and a few not so common ones, such as Castiglione della Pescaia on the coast which is well worth a visit. Finally Lucca and Martina – thank you for your kindness and we hope to see you soon!
Had the most amazing honeymoon, cannot thank Luca and Martina enough for their warmth and hospitality. They made us feel very at home from the moment we walked through the door. The villa was a lovely place to relax and enjoy the magnificent views, but also a good base to explore the surrounding area. All good things come to an end and having stayed in Casa dei Mandorli for two very happy weeks we will be sad to say goodbye. Visited Radda one afternoon, worth a visit, definitely. If you've not visited Siena, go – busy but always beautiful. It is very difficult to tear yourself away from the villa and pool here, but enjoy exploring if you do. Loved dinner here on the terrace in the evening. Make sure you cook with Luca's vegetables and herbs from the garden here – molto bene. We will definitely return here. To others, have a lovely holiday and enjoy your stay here.
Looks great on the website and the reality was even better. Quiet location with truly beautiful views, and everything about the property felt spacious and well cared for. The owners went the second mile to make us feel at home. The local grocery shop and restaurants were excellent. We certainly hope to return.
We have enjoyed staying in this lovely villa – fantastic view, dawn to dusk, hot sunshine, and beautiful pool and landscaping. Nice to have such a cool interior after the heat of the day. We haven't ventured far from this paradise (why move?) but liked the sculpture park. The views at Panzano were amazing. And lovely little wine bar there overlooking the view; nice brown bread crostini. As others have said – Martina and Luca have been wonderful hosts and have made our week quite special – thanks so much!
We came to Tuscany as part of a holiday to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We arrived at Casa dei Mandorli after a frantic few days in Venice and quickly settled into the gentle pace and beauty of Chianti. We could not have been happier with our choice. The house is beautiful – and such a view! – and Luca and Martina are fantastic hosts. We have enjoyed the café and the restaurant in Lecci. We have had a wonderful day trips. We have had the most magical honeymoon here at Casa dei Mandorli. Luca and Martina's hospitality was second to none – make sure you ask if you can sample the tasty vegetables from the garden. Although we did not venture very far – we did sample a lot of beautiful Italian food. We really have had the most relaxing, fabulous honeymoon anyone would wish for and hope you also leave with that view on your mind for years to come.
This lovely villa epitomises Tuscany: fabulous views of the rolling countryside from the beautifully landscaped terrace and pool, peace broken only by cuckoos and crickets, and in the evening the distant lights of Siena. Cool interiors and a very comfortable bed after the heat of the day. And perfect for visiting Florence, Siena, San Gimignano and other lovely towns and villages.
