  • Beautifully positioned villa
  • Breathtaking views
  • Comfortable and welcoming
  • Shops/restaurants 10-minute drive

Surrounded by breathtaking Tuscan countryside, this five-bedroom villa invites gatherings of family and friends where relaxing and having fun together takes priority. It’s a magical place to stay, recently refurnished, but still full of its original character and charm: elegant 17th-century features and comfortably stylish interiors matched by ten acres of lovely gardens and stunning views across olive groves, cypress trees and rolling hills.

For those long, hot summer days, there’s plenty to keep everyone amused, from a private pool to table tennis and a giant chess game. You’ll also find a croquet set and badminton net and, with the expanses of well-kept lawns, a football match could also be on the cards in those more competitive moments. Alternatively, for lovers of peace and quiet, there are 80 acres of private, peaceful woodland for gentle strolls under a rich green canopy. Villa Mille Desideri is owned by Nicola and Rosa and it’s their warmth and generosity that helps make this charming home such a wonderful discovery – as well as Rosa’s celebrated culinary talents. For just €30 per person per night, you can also enjoy a four-course dinner prepared by her in your well-equipped chef’s kitchen: a chance to dine in style for exceptional value without lifting a finger. And don’t miss out on a traditional Italian pizza cooked by Nicola in the stone pizza oven. Otherwise, the nearest restaurant is just a ten-minute drive away.

Throughout your stay, the couple will be on hand as much or as little as you need them to be, with suggestions for things to do and help if you need it, which can include arranging walks, wine tastings, horse riding or a round of golf on your behalf.

The local area

The charming medieval village of Monterchi is a 15-minute drive away, where you’ll find good quality restaurants and all the necessary shops for stocking up. In August, it hosts a programme of classical music concerts for a wonderfully atmospheric evening out and, in September, the Polenta Festival gets underway, a three-day foodie celebration, with music, dancing and a craft market thrown in for good measure.

About 35 minutes from Villa Mille Desideri lies Arezzo, used as a location in Roberto Benigni’s film La Vita è Bella (Life is Beautiful). As well as being home to such gems as the 12th-century Santa Maria della Pieve and the mighty Gothic Duomo, it hosts a huge 500-exhibitor antique fair in the Piazza Grande on the first weekend of every month and the spirited (and competitive!) Saracen Joust in June and September.

And if the glorious Renaissance city of Florence is on your wish list, it’s just under an hour away by train from Arezzo, or like Pisa and Siena, around 90 minutes by car.

Rosa’s cooking was the best we tasted (and we did a large survey of the surrounding area) the room was beautiful, very comfortable and clean, and we both felt really well looked after. Ann and Chris – May 2017

Thank you very much for a great holiday and an excellent villa. Your hospitality and service are incredible and made us feel at home. We are sad to leave but are grateful for the memories.
Gerard and Anna – August 2016

Our group of nine friends recently spent a magical week at the beautiful Villa Mille Desideri. Nicola was the most charming host ever...each day he cheerfully made cappuccinos for all of us...and spent time visiting. During our week, Rosa cooked three delicious dinners for us. (I would stand in a long line to buy her cookbook.) The meals were fantastic...much better than anything you could order at a restaurant. We especially enjoyed the pizza night. Their daughter Sara visited with us a few times to answer questions and give us information. What a comfortable and wonderful villa! Our week in Tuscany will never be forgotten!!
Mr & Mrs Hart – September 2015

100% satisfied. Marvellous location and fantastic owners. Villa beautifully equipped and ideal for a large group. Rosa's cooking is superb. Nicola very kindly makes frequent coffee. Sara very helpful. All my family were very happy.
Mr Pilkington – August 2014

It was beyond our wildest dreams amazing!! The villa was phenomenal!!!!! It was so great to meet the owners – Sara and her father, they are amazing and were wonderful hosts! Everything about the entire experience – the villa, the owners, the meals, everything was better than we could have ever even imagined it to be. Thank you for helping create such a great experience for us!
Ms Cohen – October 2013

We had a super time there and we would go again. The owners certainly were exceptional in their dedication to ensuring that we were ok. When the bill came, there was even no charge for all the various coffees they had made for us at a moment's notice each day. The cooking which was done in-house for us by Rosa, the owner, was without a doubt better (and better value) than anything we had while eating out and that included food from a hotel on the coast that my son visited for 3 days.
Mr Hunt – August 2013

What a magnificent experience. Thank you. Everything immaculately clean and perfect. Also 'grazie' for the wonderful breakfast and dinner. Five star quality indeed.
Mr & Mrs Fourie – August 2013

Tuscany - the land of delicious cuisine, great wines and beautiful landscape. What could be a more perfect place to discover treasures of Tuscany than Villa Mille Desideri. Thank you for making this possible.
Mrs Fin – July 2008

Thank you so much for your hospitality over the last couple of weeks. The family made our stay so much better and the food Rosa cooked was amazing. We have enjoyed every minute and I think our girls will miss Nicola very much.
Mr Makenzie – August 2007

Thank you for a most enjoyable holiday. The special food Rosa cooked was first class, thank you once again for your hospitality.
Mr & Mrs Bentley – July 2007

To experience Italy/Tuscany is to immerse yourself in the land, people, culture and food. We have experienced all of the above in the most delightful, inclusive and hospitable villa. Your warmth, generosity and hospitality made all of us feel comfortable and at home. Thank you for the wonderful meals, pomodor, and cake. We will miss you and the beautiful villa, but hope our paths will cross again someday. Grazie.
Irene and Kendall – July 2007

We had such a great time here. We were here for 16 days and the best food we had the whole time was here. Everything was great. The pool and table tennis was outstanding. Also we cleared out the ice cream fridge twice. The hospitality was amazing.
Mellgren Family – July 2007

To help you make the right choice based on your own priorities, we have devised a simple grading guide to be considered in conjunction with each individual property description, awarding up to a maximum of five stars for the below categories.
