Customer feedback

We’ve had the most wonderful week here at Vainas House. Skopelos is the most stunning island and we’ve really fallen in love with the place. We were lucky with the weather and we visited some great beaches. Perivoli beach is in a lovely setting, Milia beach is also great with an open sea view. A real highlight was Three Pines where the water was bright turquoise and we thoroughly enjoyed snorkelling around the caves. Our favourite day was when we hired a boat and just pottered up and down the coast, anchoring and swimming to shore. The ‘Mamma Mia’ church was a great visit and also the pirate graves at Sendoukia had incredible views. Finally, the most important aspect of the trip for our family – food. We had some wonderful meals across the island.
The Buckett family – July 2018

We've had an amazing two weeks on Skopelos. The peace and tranquillity of Vainas House and grounds has made us feel very relaxed. Stunning setting with amazing views and we spent lazy days around the pool, lunching under the pergola and barbecue-ing in the evenings. Yiannis' hospitality was amazing, he bought us gorgeous homemade Greek treats, arranged delivery of wood, maintained the pool, always with a warm friendly smile. Lovely house, comfortable beds, great facilities, with a great wi-fi connection! Marcia was extremely helpful and has an extensive knowledge of the island. She has has a fab sense of humour and nothing was too much trouble. She gave us some great tips and advice.
Jason & Jenny – October 2017

Our stay at Vainas House was just what we needed – restful and peaceful. Secluded on a hill but only a short drive from the hustle and bustle of Skopolos town. This quirky little cottage, full of Greek charm afforded the most amazing views. The owner, Yiannis, regularly dropped off home baked goods and was very welcoming and friendly. We miss it already!
Mr Bussetil – August 2017

Thoroughly enjoyed our much-needed holiday – exceeded expectations all round.
Mr Chalk – July 2017

What we needed was total rest and relaxation and we most certainly found it at this quiet and wonderful spot in Skopelos. Our favourite restaurants were Olivo, Rodi and Mayzez. Thank you to Marcia and to Yiannis for making us so welcome and being so helpful and knowledgeable.
Mr Kuntze – September 2016

A too short week on the beautiful island of Skopelos. We have thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The house is in a perfect location with plenty of spots to relax and catch the sun at all hours of the day. We tried the food in Anna's, Zoupa and Agnanti for dinner – all three are very good but our favourite is Zoupa. Marcia was extremely helpful with lots of local knowledge – thank you! We hired a boat and had a great day around the coves!
Mrs Pointet – August 2016

We have been to a few Greek islands, however Skopelos has been the best by far. Vainas House has made sure that we had a lovely relaxing stay. The highlights of the holiday have been eating at Agnanti – a restaurant with amazing food and a wonderful view, but make sure you book early; spending afternoons swimming at Three Trees, Milia beach (our favourite); visiting various monasteries and of course the famous Mamma Mia church. A few recommendations: Skopelos town has some great tavernas, shops, not forgetting a variety of delicious ice creams and milkshakes. We visited a lovely place for pre-dinner cocktails and drinks just above the Panagitsa church overlooking the sea. We recommend a boat hire for a day. We explored the hidden treasures of Skopelos including marine life, caves and more. If it is a cloudy day you should go and see the 'pirate tombs' up in Sedoukia which is a 10-minute walk to the tombs from the car park. Many thanks to Yiannis and his team. And thank you Marcia for all your help and the beautiful gifts!
Mr Van Der Gaag – July 2016

We agree with all the previous tips about the great restaurants and beaches. But another top spot is Taverna Fotinis. It's five minutes up the road. Great views and a wonderful lady who sings for you! Also, the tavernas at Limnonari have live music on a Sunday evening – lovely way to finish a day at the beach there. Vainas House is so peaceful! The different terraces are fabulous. The top terrace is great for cocktails before going out. Marcia is a lovely, lovely woman, so friendly and great to chat to!
Mrs Barry – July 2016

We have all had a wonderful week at Vainas House. What a beautiful island Skopelos is! Have greatly appreciated how thoughtfully considered the whole set up has been from the arrangements for the journey, every step of the way, to the welcome pack awaiting for us at Vainas and to Marcia's suggestions over the week. We have loved the house with all its various seating areas, the air-conditioned bedrooms, the pool and the garden. Freshly picked plums with yogurt and honey were the perfect breakfast, eaten on the terrace looking out across the beautiful views. We have loved the beaches. Hovolo with its magnificent backdrop was a favourite. Swimming and snorkelling daily were a highlight as was the sunset kayak trip from Neo Klima/Elios. It was spectacular. We also loved the Greek food, particularly the Agnanti taverna in Glossa. The calamari with plum chutney was something else! So good in fact we went back a second time. Was worth the journey! Another highlight was the evening walk to the pirate graves at Sedoukia. Wonderful views in the evening light! With many thanks to Marcia and Yiannis! We have had a very special holiday and hope to be back one day!
Mrs Hempstead – July 2016

We have had a wonderful week! Marcia's advice on beaches to visit and places to eat and general information about the island was extremely helpful. We loved the house and its fantastic views, and the peace and quiet. Lovely pool, great comfort, amazing bird life and viewing points. We shall miss Marcia and her lovely sense of humour and the bubbly personality – she made the holiday!
Mr DeWolf – June 2016

Spent a happy week on Skopelos. Our slightly quirky villa became home 'up in the hills'. We enjoyed visiting most of the highlights that were recommended by Marcia. We really liked Milia and Kastani beaches and found the 'Mamma Mia' chapel setting quite spectacular, well worth the trip. The beautiful countryside, sunshine, olives and tranquillity – certainly hit the right place to recharge the batteries before returning home. Many thanks to Marcia and her friendly team!
Mr Clarke – May 2016

Absolutely idyllic holiday – wonderful weather, amazing views, beautiful beaches, great food. A real rest in tremendous comfort. Vainas House has so many outdoor sitting areas and great barbecue facilities. Highlights for us were Agnondas beach and the taverna under the tree, Panormos beach and taverna, having breakfast of peaches, yogurt and honey, and the lovely barbecue at Vainas House. Thank you Simpson Travel, Marcia and Yiannis! We will be back!
Mr Day – September 2015

Very relaxing two weeks spent in Vainas House. The highlights for us have included swimming in the 'Three Trees' which was declared 'the most beautiful place on earth' by our daughter, the beach Perivoli right at the top of the island, wandering the back streets in Skopelos and the pirate graves in Sedoukia. We tried many restaurants but perhaps our favourites were Molos and Pavlos. Thank you Marcia for all your help and suggestions.
Ms Westcott July 2015

We have had a blissful two weeks at Vainas House. What a charming, quirky, magnificent find. We love the house, the views, the pool, and all the fabulous outside spots: the upper terrace, the swing seat, the shaded eating area, the barbecue and the tables and chairs by the pool. Divine! And all perfect too for our teenagers with the wi-fi! Skopelos is a beautiful island. We like quite secluded beaches and our favourites have been Perivoli, Kalyves, Glysteri and snorkelling near the 'Three Trees'. We also enjoyed Limnonari and Milia. We hired a boat on two occasions from Dimitri (a lovely man) who can be found on Milia Beach. Both days were amazing and very memorable! A visit to the 'Mamma Mia' church is a must. We have had some excellent meals out. Our absolute favourite restaurant is Anna's – great food and a lovely courtyard setting. Really good meals too at Agnanti in Glossa, Molos, Kyratso's Kitchen and Ta Kymata. Finally, a huge thanks to Marcia – never before have we met such a lovely, kind and helpful rep. All her recommendations have been spot on.
Mrs Randall July 2015

Vainas House is a quirky and rustic property which all adds to its unique charm. The extensive grounds, spectacular views and complete privacy make it an ideal retreat. The island of Skopelos is a very beautiful island with a lush, green landscape, which contrasts wonderfully with the deep blue and turquoise seas.
Mr Hayes  September 2014

Our family loved Skopelos. Vainas House was the perfect villa with lots of shady areas to hide from the heat. Marcia's knowledge of the island is outstanding and her recommendations were always spot on. I wish we had booked for two weeks as it flew by and there were so many beaches left to be explored. We will be back.
Mrs Everest August 2014

One of the joys of Vainas House is that it provides so many of the ingredients of a comfortable and relaxing holiday before you even step outside the gates and discover the many delights awaiting beyond!
The Owen Family July 2014

A beautiful island, easy to drive around if you take care. So many pretty bays and beaches. Skopelos town was fun for the 'buzz' with good eateries. Marcia provided a wonderful source of information. We have never encountered such a conscientious and lovely representative for a travel company. Thank you Marcia! We were also very impressed with Simpson Travel's handling of arrival logistics and our smooth transfer.
Mr and Mrs Kelley September 2013

The four of us had the most relaxing time in Skopelos. The island is truly beautiful and totally unspoilt. The villa was everything we wanted and we spent many hot days lounging round the pool. We really didn't want to go home – but have some wonderful memories to treasure forever.
The Philpott Family August 2013

We had a beautiful and relaxing holiday in this magical place. The villa was perfect, with lots of little areas to escape to. The upper terrace has the most wonderful panoramic views, both during the day and for star gazing at night. The pool provided most welcome relief from the baking hot sun. We had two weeks of wall-to-wall sunshine, exploring a different beach each day. Thank you Marcia for all your warmth and friendliness.
The Mitchell Family July 2013

Thank you so much for a fantastic holiday. The villa was PERFECT for us: simple and rustic charm. The pool, the barbecue, the views, fresh linen and towels twice weekly – what luxury! All we did for two weeks was lie in the sun, swim in the pool, eat fresh food, drink chilled wine, and sleep – lots! Our only regret was that we only booked for two weeks!
Mr Cook July 2013

A villa in an orchard – splendid! We had a lovely two weeks – just a shame we couldn't stay longer. The views were fantastic, especially in the evening at sunset when Alonissos glows pink. Skopelos town is very pleasant – lots of bars and restaurants. Have a great holiday – we did.
Mr and Mrs James June 2013

What an amazing, unusual place. Complete privacy, comfort everywhere, even got used to going outside to go to bed upstairs! Great welcome from the owners, and brilliant welcome pack – great when tired and no need to go out first evening. Thank you all for a brilliant holiday, we want to go again.
Mr and Mrs Randall June 2013

Beautiful house and island. We had a lovely relaxing holiday.
Mr Aubin May 2013

Much of our portfolio is privately owned, and price alone is therefore not a universal guide. We contract all our accommodation in person, and each property has its individual appeal. To help you make the right choice based on your own priorities, we have devised a simple grading guide to be considered in conjunction with each individual property description, awarding up to a maximum of five stars for the below categories.
