Dressed in beautiful pale golden stone, Villa Athina claims a lofty but unobtrusive position high on the hillside above Agios Nikitas on the west coast of Lefkada. Agios Nikitas is one of the island’s most sought-after villages, with its own pretty beach and enough tavernas to ring the changes for at least a week. It’s a popular spot in the height of summer, but those lucky enough to be staying nearby will find the village quietens considerably as evening falls, so you can enjoy a relaxed stroll around its cobbled streets and traditional buildings as you choose your dinner spot.
Athina’s hillside location gives you two gloriously contrasting perspectives: from the pool area you look out over Lefkada’s rugged, forest-clad mountains, whilst the front patio offers equally wonderful views of the sea in all its myriad shades of blue. There’s plenty of room here to enjoy evening drinks or a barbecue, complemented by the nightly spectacle of a stunning Ionian sunset. The interior is practical and comfortable, with two good-sized en-suite bedrooms located on the main terrace level, and a bright, airy living-dining area upstairs to take full advantage of the view.
Villa Athina is positioned next to identical Villa Valia, so if you’re travelling in a larger group or as two families then both villas can be rented together. Regardless of your party size, it’s a great base for discovering the full diversity of Lefkada, from centuries-old rural villages to the lively buzz of the island capital and the spectacular west coast beaches such as Mylos and Porto Katsiki, considered to be some of the finest in the Ionian.

Villa is very comfortable and one of the best we have stayed in. Cleanliness was incredible. Villa is very well equipped. We can not suggest anything that could possibly improve the Villa. It was just perfect.
Yiannis our rep was truly amazing in every way. Our time in Lefkada was eventful, a trip to the local hospital followed by our wedding and Yiannis assisted in every way, actually making it possible for the wedding to go ahead! We cannot speak highly enough of him.
We have really enjoyed this villa. One of the best we have stayed in. Lovely having two seating areas outside, one facing west and the other face east, which means you always have sun and shade. Bedrooms very comfortable and the whole villa is spotless due to Maria’s excellent cleaning. She is also very cheerful. Favourite restaurant – Safpo fish restaurant in Agios Nikitas and most interesting restaurant, Rachi – good vibes, hang gliders and good food. Yiannis is incredibly helpful and friendly.
Extremely good experience throughout the holiday. Yiannis, our local concierge was superb and a mine of information and advice. The villa was spotless and cleaned again mid week. More than enough (matching) crockery and cutlery to not need to use the dishwasher after every meal. Ice cold fridge and a most comprehensive welcome pack which was great as we arrived late on the Sunday. Yiannis had also organised a couple of additional free-from items. Villa Athina has the most amazing views both front and back, is very well maintained and the air-con was most welcome. The TV had a odd blue tinge, but we really preferred to watch the sunsets from the balcony every evening instead. There’s a very steep hill to climb to get to the villa and our hire car struggled to get up it, and it’s your only route to the village. Agios Nikitas is a fabulous town with a very busy beach. All the Tavervas produced amazing traditional food and you could eat at a different one every night and not be disappointed.
First time using Simpson Travel and it’s been wonderful. Yiannis has been a fantastic concierge. He has been so helpful, great recommendations and happy to help in any way he can. Agios Nikitas is a lovely town – great tavernas and a lovely little beach. We hired a boat from Nidri and sailed over to Meganissi and stopped at various places for a swim – fab! The welcome pack at the villa was so thoughtful on our arrival, a lovely touch. The villa is so well equipped. The attention to detail is great – clean and perfect really. We loved the pool and the seating area – it’s just what you need – sun and shade!
What a beautiful villa and situation. Really impressed with Simpson, everything we needed and all very easy. The views are stunning, whichever way you look! We were looking for a really relaxing break in an unspoilt place and this has it in spades. We ate out every night down the hill and all the tavernas are great (and such good value!) with lovely service. Agios Nikitas reminds us of Greece that we fell in love with 30 years ago.

Quite simply, they are now my Go to Travel Company I had not heard of Simpson Travel before and it was only through googling for a villa with flights, did they eventually come up. I cannot believe I never knew they were available for so long! Without doubt they are now my Go To travel agency. The customer service from start to finish has been exceptional. It’s all online but you can reach them easily by phone for advice and information. Once booking a holiday through them, their personal Concierge service is reliable and well informed via email and calls. When we arrived off the plane, our concierge, Yiannis was awaiting to welcome and direct us to our hire car. Yiannis also arranged a visit to our villa, not to hard sell anything but simply to recommend the venues or beaches he felt we would enjoy! He was not wrong! Travel instructions to Villa Athina were impressive and accurate. The villa immaculate and with more mod-cons than I truly expected. Even the JBL Bluetooth sound speaker and Netflix impressed my teen daughter. The free Welcome Pack is a lovely touch and allowed us to not have to rush out and get anything on our arrival but leisurely the next day. Lefkada is a gem of an island and we found it easy to get around the island. Finally, I cannot fault the Villa. It was beautifully managed and clearly loved by those who maintain it. We wanted a relaxing villa with fabulous views but close to all amenities.. we got it! I loved the holiday and truly recommend the Villa. As for Simpson Travel, I’m converted! I will never use another company again!!
