- Outstanding character
- 300-year-old restored house
- Wonderful country views
- Beautifully lawned gardens
Once in a while we discover a project with huge potential – one that is difficult to turn down.
The Pasha's Retreat is just such a project and is the work and dedication of one man, Omer Irmak, who goes back to our Simply Travel days in the 1990s. Dwarfed by some magnificent cliffs, this 300-year-old house has the most marvellous position just outside Dalyan with beautiful views of the countryside. In summer, hawks hover over the valley and wild goats scramble over the rocky cliffs, laden with pine trees that overlook this glorious spot.
Omer is passionate about architecture and the restoration has been tastefully completed combining two separate buildings making a spacious three bedroom house. The interiors are furnished in sympathy with the building’s old world charm.
The outside areas are a delight as you enter this lovely home via a pathway through your pretty garden. A spacious lawned area complements the private swimming pool with plenty of seating options.
The house is ideal for families in the summer season with its large gardens and close proximity to a local restaurant and Dalyan itself, whilst couples will find the ambience, style and position both romantic and characterful.
No one knows exactly who this house belonged to – perhaps the local governor, a rich merchant or, as we like to think, an Ottoman prince known in Turkish as a Pasha. Whoever it was, we are confident that Omer's dedication and energy has created something quite unique.

The Pasha’s Retreat is as its name implies, a retreat from the hustle and bustle of the town of Dalyan. Peaceful except for the sounds of nature and a few farm animals and also beautiful, being surrounded on two sides by lush green forested hills, fields of corn and orchards (a quiet lane and a neighbour's large plot on the other two sides). It sits in its own garden filled with mature trees and shrubs and an inviting pool of a decent size. The interiors of the renovated old buildings are simple but attractively furnished. Dalyan is a town in an unusual situation, being on a river between a lake and the sea with plenty to do and see within a reasonable distance. We especially enjoyed our private boat trip on the ‘Favourite’ arranged for us by Jessica. Friendly people and good food completed the mix for an excellent holiday.
Catherine – August 2019
We thought our rep, Jessica, was outstanding. Knowledgeable, kind, approachable – nothing was too much trouble for her. She really is a star.
Dr Guyton – July 2019
A beautiful, tranquil setting in which to base a week! We visited Dalyan many, many times in the past and it was great to return to our favourite haunts! Wandering through the reed beds to the beach is still magical – if you are lucky you will see turtles, terrapins, kingfishers, eagles, egrets and many more! Take a small boat and let the boatman guide you. Meander around Kojes Lake and end up at the market in Kojes on Monday for local colour and an amazing variety of goods. Visit the restaurant Saki and enjoy their amazing choices of mezes and smiling staff. Visit the Kingfisher restaurant reached either by road on the way to Iztuzu beach or ask a boatman to take you there. Thank you again to Simpson Travel for choosing such independent accommodation. We will be back! P.S. Excellent beds!
The Wyatts – October 2018
We have enjoyed a fabulous week here at the Pasha’s Retreat. We all loved the villa and its facilities – all very comfortable. Jess’s recommendations for restaurants were great. We ate at Gunluklu – good basic food and easy to walk to, Saki’s for lunch was lovely too. We also enjoyed the Lime restaurant in Dalyan. Breakfast at Golbasi was amazing. The food was great and we saw kingfishers in the reeds and on the river. Iztuzu beach was a good place for a walk and it was interesting to find out about the turtles. Kaunos was worth a visit too. Most of all we enjoyed the sunshine, relaxing and swimming in the pool. The tranquil surroundings are just lovely. Thank you Jess for all your advice. We shall definitely return one day as there is so much else to explore.
Jenny, Ross, Nicci & Mark – October 2018
We enjoyed our second visit to Pasha's Retreat just as much as our first. The setting is idyllic, near enough to Dalyan if you want to experience the river trips, restaurants, etc. but set in a beautiful tranquil garden. A very short stroll to a restaurant, which is as good as any in Dalyan, followed by a glass of wine whilst sitting on the rocking chairs listening to the sheep, goats, owl and crickets – wonderful. Jessica is an outstanding rep, friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. We are already planning our next Simpson holiday to Turkey.
Sally Robinson – September 2018
A wonderful stay in peaceful Pasha’s Retreat! Loved the boat trips with Captain Turguy – ask Jessica for details. We had a day trip to the sea and Ekincik Bay, on a lovely large boat with sunbathing on the roof and a great freshly cooked lunch. Enjoyed it so much we went on a moonlit trip to the lake too – well worth it. Enjoyed the trip to Bybassos and the mountain waterfall. Swim into the icy waters after a lovely lunch! Great meals at Saki, Losh and very good food down the road at Gunluklu – brilliant kebabs under the trees. Saw eagles flying over the hill in the garden, and fresh water turtles, kingfishers and herons on the boat trips. Loved the Saturday market – fabulous pancakes and good for presents for the house. Loved the villa and pool and gardens. We’ll come back. Thanks to Jessica for all her help.
The Phillips Family – August 2018
Thank you, Jessica for all your help – this is a very special house, so peaceful. We feel totally relaxed and the restaurant down the road is traditional food, just what we enjoy, maybe a bit too much!
Jan & Jim – July 2018
We do not want to go home! We have had the most marvellous two weeks here. Our highlights were two boat trips – private boat captained by Mesut Ertekin. The first trip was the classic trip up river to the lake and also to the beach (Iztuzu) back down. It included an on-board barbecue and home grown vegetable mezes as well as a session crabbing – with our catch cooked on board by Mesut’s mum. Lots of sea and lake swimming – saw turtles – it was magical. Nor forgetting the mud bath in a smelly thermal spring. The second trip was by moonlight on Lake Köyceğiz. After watching the sunset and swimming in the freshwater, we had a delicious dinner on board. Mesut’s rates are in TL (don’t get ripped off by people charging (or over charging) you in £s) and are very reasonable. 650TL for the trip for six of us plus any alcoholic drinks extra. In really busy times he charges 800TL per trip plus alcohol. His boat is moored outside BC Spa hotel in Dalyan and near the new hamam where we all spent a morning being pampered, scrubbed, pummelled and massaged. Other highlights: the turtle rehab centre at the road end of Iztuzu beach, Sarigerme beach for watersports, Asi beach (in spite of a long, bumpy, scary drive to reach it) is great for little people but has a zip wire for the adventurous. We went to Kaunos to see the ruins – taking a boat over and walking 10 minutes up hill in the heat to find the place to ourselves. Very impressive. Best to go early (by 9 am if possible) to escape the intense July heat. We ate out quite a bit – mainly at Gunluklu restaurant as it is so close and the food is good and good value.
The Carslaw Family – July 2018
We’ve enjoyed a wonderful stay at Pasha’s Retreat. Such a peaceful and rural setting. We loved the beautiful gardens and the space around us. There are plenty of places to eat in Dalyan, but our favourite was sitting in the garden watching the sunset and the bats flying overhead! There are lots of local tracks to walk from the villa and plenty of wildlife to spot – tortoises, terrapins, squirrels, frogs, hedgehogs and plenty of birds. It was very good to see the stork nests and the young nearly ready to fly. Jess is always at hand if you have any questions or problems. Thanks yet again Simpson Travel for finding a perfect retreat!
Sue & Andy –June 2018
The Pasha's Retreat is a little piece of paradise.
C Matthews – June 2018
We have just spent a wonderful relaxing week at The Pasha's Retreat. If you like peace and quiet this is for you. Far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Dalyan but just a short drive into town for groceries, eateries, etc. It truly is an idyllic location with everything provided by Simpson Travel to make your holiday stress-free. Highly recommended.
Mrs Gollar – September 2017
The Pasha's Retreat was amazing. It has a very tranquil and beautiful location. Lovely property and swimming pool... a really nice family holiday.
Mr Hilmi – August 2017
You guys and gals have it pretty much nailed. Well done, and thank you. Good job. Will be back for more!
Mr Sherry – July 2017
Simpson Travel made the whole experience easy, straightforward and stress free. Highly recommended.
Mrs Condie – August 2016
The overall experience was just 'seamless', everything flowed so well, everything was as shown on the website. A holiday company should ensure we have to think about as little as possible, making everything easy....Simpson Travel did just that so thank you.
Mr Morrison – September 2015
What a great place! We feel somewhat privileged to have been the first guests to stay here.
Mr Raine – June 2015
Our choice of Turkey properties is diverse, ranging from simple charm to genuine luxury and style. Much of our portfolio is privately owned, and price alone is therefore not a universal guide. We contract all our accommodation in person, and each property has its individual appeal.
To help you make the right choice based on your own priorities, we have devised a simple grading guide to be considered in conjunction with each individual property description, awarding up to a maximum of five stars for the below categories.
* For further clarification on Facilities and Amenities, please view the 'Details' tab for each property or speak to one of our experienced sales consultants.
Imbued with the spirit of the water, the landscape around the Dalyan Delta makes for an unforgettable holiday. Dalyan itself is a bright, bustling community and numerous canopied river taxis and small fishing boats bob along its quayside, with a cluster of restaurants, small shops and cafés nearby. The waterways are also a haven for wildlife, including the rare loggerhead turtle and, further along the river, you’ll find ancient Lycian rock tombs and idyllic Köyceğiz Lake, with beautiful Iztuzu beach also within easy reach.
And to complete the experience, we found The Pasha’s Retreat – a peaceful hideaway with lovely country views.
