Through peaceful Skopelos countryside of meadows, walnut and chestnut woods, with a glimpse of a ruined monastery through the trees, lies Villa Santa Marina standing peacefully on a hillside above Skopelos Town. On a clear day the view out to sea reaches as far as Mount Athos.
Next to the house is the tiny white-washed 250-year-old chapel of Ayia Marina, now used only once a year, with its ancient fresh water spring nourishing the garden of fruit trees, flowers and vegetables.

This has been our first visit to Skopelos, but we know we would like to return sometime in the future. We have spent two very relaxing weeks here at Santa Marina and have loved the peace and quiet and beautiful setting here as well as trips out around the island, and of course here at the villa enjoying those fabulous views! Marcia has been extremely helpful with her knowledge of the island.
The Simpson Family – September 2017
Our second stay at Santa Marina and it was even better than we remembered. The location is fantastic and we have had a really wonderful time. A massive thank you goes out to Marcia, who is a gem. Her advice and recommendations are great and nothing is too much trouble. We hope you enjoy your stay as much as we have.
Guy, Jess, Oliver & Rory – August 2017
We have loved Skopelos and its friendly people. Marcia has been so welcoming and knows all the best places in Skopelos. Our favourite beaches were Limnonari and Agnondas and the various little coves around there. There are loads of lovely tavernas and restaurants, and again Marcia had great recommendations. What a wonderful stay! A big thanks! We hope to be back one day!
Mrs Hill – August 2016
A wonderful week in Skopelos. We covered a lot including nearly all the beaches. Panormos and Kastani were our personal favourites. Agios Ioannis was worth the drive and is a 'must see'. We combined it with a wonderful lunch at Agnanti in Glossa (spectacular views). We enjoyed a good food at tavernas in Agnondas and Panormos and in the courtyards of Skopelos town, Perivoli was especially good. Thanks to Marcia for her recommendations!
Dr Rees – August 2016
Wonderful stay. Best beaches are Limnonari (some nice restaurants with good food; great for snorkelling), Kastani – pretty and bushy, with nice music; Perivali – remote, but worth it, especially with the Mamma Mia chapel. Best restaurant was Pavlos in Agnontas – great waterfront location, you can eat on the beach, great tapas and Greek food. Marcia was great. We have really enjoyed our stay!
Mr D'Arcy – July 2016
Both Skopelos and Villa Santa Marina have proven to be a perfect holiday experience, especially if you are looking for a peaceful and relaxing break. Set on the hillside with stunning views over the valley and town, it is a quiet haven, a spacious and comfortable villa with a particularly beautiful garden which includes a small orchard. We have thoroughly enjoyed this 'home from home' and have been able to truly unwind. Skopelos still retains its traditional Greek character, does not feel overrun with tourists (although tourism is clearly essential to it) and its people seem to genuinely want to please and work very hard to do so. There are many beaches to choose from. The car has been a godsend allowing us to visit so many more places. Marcia was extremely helpful with lots of recommendations and we have felt total confidence in her professionalism. The standard of food has been exceptionally good in the tavernas and all Marcia's suggestions have been excellent. We can particularly recommend Perivoli, Anna's, Alexander and Agnanti, although it was 45 minutes away. It's well worth a visit, but you must book in advance. If you are going up to Agnanti, it's good to combine it with an early visit to Agios Ioannis.
Mrs James – June 2016
We had a lovely stay in Villa Santa Marina. Amazing views over the island. Skopelos is a great holiday destination. Super relaxing, beautiful coast and great choice of places to eat and explore. We especially enjoyed Agios Ioannis chapel, after a windy road the stunning views are worth it. Our favourite beach was Kastani beach for the crystal clear waters and breathtaking sunsets. Our favourite restaurant was Agnanti with amazing food and a view to die for. Agnanti, along with an eventful kayak trip, made for the highlight of our stay in Skopelos. A huge thank you to Marcia for being super helpful and making our trip even more enjoyable!
Mr Firth – May 2016
I use Simpson Travel as I trust that they have found that special place that is away from the busy built up tourist areas. White Orchid and Purple Apricot being good examples. I know that there will be a friendly Simpson Travel representative at the other end of a phone to help and give advice. We are about to go on our fifth holiday through Simpson Travel....that says it all !
Mrs Earle – August 2015
Villa Santa Maria on Skopelos was fantastic. I would highly recommend the island, the villa, using Simpson Travel, and especially the local representative, Marcia, who was fantastic. Thanks for a wonderful holiday, I am sure we will be booking again with Simpson Travel.
Mr Knighton – September 2014
A fabulous holiday! All of Marcia's recommendations were perfect. Accommodation well worth the exhilarating drive up.
The Everard Family – August 2014
A perfect week in a perfect place. We especially delighted in the beaches of the north-east. The house is such a source of peace and pleasure.
The Brody Family – July 2014
This was the first time we have used Simpson Travel and the experience from booking to return was excellent. Once in Greece the efficiency of the representatives managing our transfers was excellent. On arrival in Skopelos we were met by Marcia and we were her 'guests' on the island for the week. Nothing was too much trouble. The villa was brilliant with exceptional views over the harbour and it was an excellent base for the week. So, thank you to Marcia especially and to Simpson Travel for a great family holiday.
Mr Braid – June 2014
Our choice of Greek properties is as diverse as the islands themelves, ranging from simple seaside charm to genuine luxury and style. Much of our portfolio is privately owned, and price alone is therefore not a universal guide. We contract all our accommodation in person, and each property has its individual appeal. To help you make the right choice based on your own priorities, we have devised a simple grading guide to be considered in conjunction with each individual property description, awarding up to a maximum of five stars for the below categories.

A trip to this idyllic location – wonderfully green, unspoilt and peaceful – is about enjoying a world which moves at a different pace. Skopelos Town is a Traditional Settlement of Outstanding Beauty and you’ll find Ottoman and Venetian influences in the island’s 300 monasteries and churches. However, from the mountains and deep pine and horse chestnut woods at the island’s heart to the tiny coves, sleepy beaches and abundant wildlife, this is truly a destination for nature lovers and the romantic at heart.
Choose a luxury villa in Skopelos and you'll soon understand why they filmed Mamma Mia! here.
