Our first visit to Paxos and it certainly won’t be our last! We are really glad we chose Joanna’s House. It was heavenly! Fabulous location and views, but just a few minutes’ drive to so many nice places – Loggos, Lakka, Gaios and Erimitis. We were grateful for the welcome pack and enjoyed a delicious simple pasta dish on our arrival. In Loggos we particularly liked ‘Roxi’ – friendly bar for coffee or drinks. Go through to the back and sit by the sea, or in front for the evening sun. Lots of restaurants to choose from. Lakka is slightly bigger – we liked the beach restaurant at Harami Beach, a short walk from the port, sunbeds provided. Gaios is lively and. Best of all – Erimitis Sunset Bar and restaurant – 7-minute drive but fabulous for drinks or dinner (book early) if you want a table at the edge. It’s very popular for watching the sunset. Thank you, Simpson Travel – you have been excellent.
Hugh & Terry – September 2018
From start to finish we had a wonderful holiday at Joanna’s House in Paxos and could not fault anything. The Simpson Travel team were so accommodating and their kindness and knowledge was much appreciated. We were the only people on the ferry transfer for whom it was the first visit, and we look forward to returning next year! Thank you all.
Andrew & Sally Livingstone – September 2018
Having visited Paxos on an excursion from Corfu 35 years ago, we finally decided to stay for a week. During our stay we visited several beaches, our favourite being Avlaki beach. Avlaki is a small, sheltered cove, really great for snorkelling. We spent one day on a small 30hp boat hired from Water Escapes in Gaios. We travelled easily all the way around Anti Paxos and found several quiet coves to drop anchor to snorkel and swim ashore. We spent two evenings at Kareklas Taverna which is a 15-minute walk from Joanna’s House. We also dined at Carnayo in Gaios, 5-minute walk from the busy Saturday night waterfront. We had seamless organisation from all staff at Simpson Travel on our first travel experience with them. We found Joanna’s House to be as just as we expected – perfect in every way.
Barry & Lynda – August 2018
So why do we come back to Paxos time after time – for the peace and friendliness of the people and the kindness of the Simpson Travel staff – nothing is too much trouble. Our favourite eatery is in Fontana – they greet us like old friends and we cannot wait to return. The most important thing we felt is the silence – stop and listen to it, where else in the world can you hear it? Admittedly, there were some very noisy days due to thunder storms which were spectacular but Joanna’s House is well placed to observe and marvel at the spectacular lightning. We are coming again soon in September – can’t wait.
Marian & Keith – June 2018
Our third holiday on Paxos – previously stayed at Purple Apricot and The Windmill – both equally as wonderful as our stay here has been. The views on the terrace are outstanding – and we particularly enjoy the tranquillity on this part of the island, we've enjoyed many a walk down into Gaios and back – and through Ozias, a little village – really lovely. There's always been a little cove/beach that we have almost or sometimes had it totally to ourselves. Would recommend a walk down to Erimitis beach – wonderful! Joanna's House itself is terrific – plenty of outside space and a decent-sized swimming pool with a beautiful view, peace and quiet and a great space for a barbecue. Paxos just has to be explored and enjoyed – it has to be one of the most beautiful Greek islands. Thank you again to all at Simpson Travel for you expertise and seamless arrangements – we've had a fantastic two weeks.
Jo & Jon – September 2017
At every stage, from initial inquiries to departure at the airport as we returned home, we found Simpson Travel to be excellent: efficient, helpful and extremely professional. No query was too much trouble and the different stages of our journey were seamless due to the organisation and communication of reps and other staff. The villa was wonderful and we had a great time. I would highly recommend Simpson Travel to anyone.
Mrs Kendall – September 2017
Joanna's House is such a lovely place. We have stayed in it three times now and will come again. The peace and the view is just fascinating and we keep an eye on the ships passing up and down, look them up on the internet and wonder at the way they cram so many people into them. Joanna's House is what we need in a busy life away from the crowds with just a beautiful pool and a few books.
Marian & Keith Thomas – July 2017
Joanna's House is perfect for a couple and the view must be the best on the island. This was our second visit and we hope to return in the not too distant future.
Mr Ellis – August 2016
The Simpson Travel experience was second to none, from easy booking to the pre-journey paperwork and then the travel arrangements themselves were excellent. Finally the standard of the villa we stayed at in Paxos was brilliant and exceeded our expectations!
Mr Marjoram – August 2015
We have just returned from another wonderful two-week holiday in Joanna's House on Paxos. Simpson Travel always seem to get things so right. The new BA flights and hydrofoil transfers went so smoothly that they were enjoyed as part of the holiday. Our local representative, Julie, could not do enough for us and it was most re-assuring to see Graham Simpson himself out there, not only checking on the current situation and how it could affect his clients, but making sure that the Simpson properties continue to come up to his demanding standards.
Mrs O'Connor – June 2015
Joanna 's House on Paxos is absolutely lovely, so quiet you stop to listen to the silence, and the views are to die for. The natural beauty of the olive trees all around give a misty light and what is most enjoyable is the friendliness of the local people and the desire to please. We definitely want to go back there. We just hope that in their desire to increase the number of tourists, the effort to do so may destroy the charm that already exists.
Mr Thomas – June 2015
The journey to get to Joanna's House in Paxos may be long from the UK, culminating with an exciting drive up an unmade road through the olive grove in first gear, but the moment you get through the gates and have your breath taken away by the stupendous view across to Corfu and the mainland, you realise it's been worthwhile. A simply beautiful setting and a sweet little villa for two with a surprisingly big private pool to enjoy.
Mr Stephens – September 2014
The island of Paxos offers peace, tranquillity, simplicity and beauty. Add to this the professional selection of outstanding properties all with unique styles, from smart minimalist to traditional Greek, and the unobtrusive support of a skilled, tireless representative and you have a Simpson Travel holiday never to forget...indeed one is compelled to return and return again. And we have and will. Thank you!
Mrs Reynolds – August 2014
Our two weeks at Joanna's House were simply great. We loved everything about Paxos and it's definitely become our favourite island. We have always operated a 'never go back' philosophy (no matter how much we've enjoyed our hols) but this is now under serious pressure!
Mr Crowther – July 2014
We have completed eight holidays with Simpson Travel and each and every one has been a memorable experience. Our most recent trip to Paxos was exactly what we have come to expect from a Simpson Travel holiday: wonderful accommodation in a peaceful and relaxed setting and a first class service from Simpson staff.
Mrs Bolton – June 2014
We have just returned from a wonderful two weeks staying at Joanna's House – our holiday giving us everything we wanted. Peace, privacy, wonderful views and pretty areas for eating and sitting outdoors and a good wi-fi connection. We had barbecues regularly and found driving around the island easy. Even though it was October and the weather was variable there was still plenty of sun and warmth to enjoy the sea and the pool. Our last meal at the taverna on the beach was memorable. Clear blue sky, gentle lapping waves, Greek music and homemade food. Thank you to all at Simpson Travel.
Mrs Steward – September 2013
We loved Joanna's House, the location, the views, the sunsets and the tranquillity. Paxos is a magical island for us.
Mr Field – June 2013
Our choice of Greek properties is as diverse as the islands themselves, ranging from simple seaside charm to genuine luxury and style. Much of our portfolio is privately owned, and price alone is therefore not a universal guide. We contract all our accommodation in person, and each property has its individual appeal. To help you make the right choice based on your own priorities, we have devised a simple grading guide to be considered in conjunction with each individual property description, awarding up to a maximum of five stars for the below categories.
* For further clarification on Facilities and Amenities, please view the 'Details' tab for each property or speak to one of our experienced sales consultants.
There are few better ways of relaxing than on a luxury holiday in Paxos, where days fill up beautifully with sunbathing, swimming, snorkelling and dining in style, the sea just metres from your table. Amble through ancient olive groves and you’ll catch glimpses of startlingly turquoise bays, the dramatic west-coast cliffs or the Epiros Mountains. In spring, there’s also a haze of purple honesty, wild irises and lilies and a sky that’s alive with birdlife, from hawks to skylarks.
