Recently refurbished to our exacting standards, Mochlos Blue ticks all the boxes – location, style and comfort alongside some beautifully individual touches that set it apart. The final ingredient is service, and a stay at Mochlos Blue comes with the promise of a warm and hospitable welcome from the owner George and his parents who have been hosting guests here for over 20 years. Their commitment to offering the thoughtful care and attention to detail that our reputation is built upon comes naturally – so much so that we didn't need to discuss the importance of a ‘Simpson Hotel’ breakfast – they were already serving one. Add to this our own local concierge in Mochlos and we know we have a winning formula.

Just six rooms enjoy all this fabulous spot has to offer; each simply but elegantly furnished, with supremely comfy double beds (three of which can be converted to a twin on request) and opening onto a balcony or terrace with uninterrupted sea views. Breakfast is served down on the pool terrace where the sound of the sea lapping against the shore is both soothing and uplifting in equal measure. It’s a hop and a skip to the sunbeds if a day of quiet repose is just what the doctor ordered and though there is no direct access to the sea from here, it’s only a short walk into Mochlos where the lovely little beach nestles beneath the charming array of cafés and tavernas.

Ideal for couples, Mochlos Blue is a boutique hotel which celebrates its place on the road less travelled. But teenagers also enjoy the freedom of being able to walk into Mochlos and families with children are very welcome in July and August. We may also, on occasion, offer the hotel as a whole for a large group of friends or an extended family gathering.

And enchanting though it is, Mochlos is not the only attraction. There are a number of other pretty villages in the surrounding area including Kavousi in the next bay along, particularly beautiful with a lovely beach, and Monasteraki, a hidden gem en route to Ierapetra with a delightful taverna at the mouth of the Ha Gorge.

But there’s no obligation to do more than relax and enjoy the moment. A ten-minute stroll from the hotel leads to the lovely waterfront in Mochlos and though it’s a sleepy place in essence, the cuisine is top notch and there’s a wonderfully creative eccentricity at its heart, that keeps it feeling vibrant and draws a discerning crowd back again and again.

We had a wonderful hotel in this quiet and unspoilt part of Crete. The Mochlos Blue Hotel is located by the sea a short walk from Mochlos itself where you find a number of friendly family run tavernas offering delicious local meals. The location is perfect; rising early one morning we saw a beautiful sunrise and in the evening the sunset was perfect. Nickos, the local Simpson's rep, was on hand every day for advice and suggestions. Breakfast is prepared and served by the charming Harra, who offers a different speciality each day. All rooms are overlooking the pool with outstanding views over the sea. Our holiday exceeded our expectations which were already high. The Simpson's team in both Crete and UK could not have worked harder to make our week in Mochlos Blue an experience we will long remember.

Our interest in Crete as a holiday option followed on from a Guardian Article by Annabelle Thorpe last published 14 April 2024," Retreat to Crete: why the Greek island is a perfect escape". On reflection this holiday at "Mochlos Blue" was perfect. This was a holiday where everyone that we came into contact with was helpful, startling with the long stay carpark bus driver waiting for us as we scrambled with luggage to get onto the bus. In summary of the holiday everything went smoothly and beyond. I have never had a car upgrade but got an "SUV Jeep" which was ideal for some of the minor roads that we went on. I have never had my bill cancelled which occurred because we were forgotten in a Mochlos Village restaurant - owner apologised profusely and would not lets us pay. I should also mention Hara and Nikos from Simpson who we saw every day and who simply were just very nice (cliché). Would we go back? Yes so much more to see and experience. Would we use SIMPSON? Of course.

We have just had a relaxing 2 weeks holiday in Mochlos. The tavernas and bars have all been wonderful and all very reasonably priced. Mochlos is still unspoilt and charming. Every morning we have been greeted by Harra who is an absolute ray of sunshine and served us a superb breakfast every day. Our second holiday in Mochlos in as many years, and we loved it just as much this time. Thank you to Nikos and to Klara for looking after us; breakfasts at the Blue are a perfect way to start the day. As the weather was less than perfect for the whole week, we had some very pleasant drives to mountain villages, as well as to Agios Nikolaos, Sitia and Elounda. Everywhere is friendly and everywhere serves good food, but Mochlos remains the best place we’ve found. We will be back again, possibly next year!

Another lovely Simpson's holiday in Mochlos in Crete, this time. Room and hotel were first rate; care from staff impeccable; breakfasts lovely. Mochlos is a delightful, laid-back place to stay and the taverns are great for eating out - good quality and variety. Trips to nearby venues were interesting and worthwhile. We went to Knossos on the day of return while waiting for our flight - very well worth the small detour. 'Interesting' bits - a. arriving near to midnight on first day; driving a manual LHD, at night, through multiple roadworks; negotiating narrow, winding mountain roads to reach our destination, and then trying to find the destination. However we were cheerfully greeted by Nikos and well cared for. b. Tsunami warning on phone at 2:20 that same night was challenging - luckily we met all our new neighbours in night clothes and got reassurance from Nikos - there was no tsunami - that night c. Earthquake at 6:20 a few days later - 6.1 Richter but 40 kms north of Agios Nikolaos. My first quake lasting >10 seconds; no damage, no injury but an interesting talking point. Thanks, once again Simpson for a wonderful, eventful holiday

What a wonderful place Mochlos & the Mochlos Blue are! We had a great week here. The weather was great and the hotel is a great location for day-trips to the Toplou monastery & Vai beach, the Richtis gorge, Myrtonas gorge on the south coast, Kavousi and Agios Nikolaos. We particularly enjoyed the relaxed vibe at the hotel and the convenience of being able to walk to one of the local tavernas for dinner. All the tavernas were good, especially for the Greek salads and grilled fish. Hara is a lovely breakfast host and Nikos is always available for help and advice if needed. Highly recommended!

We fell in love with Mochlos and its people when we stayed in a Simpson Villa with our children in 2023. So much so, we returned in 2024 for a holiday without the children and stayed at the excellent Mochlos Blue Boutique Hotel. Nikos and his beautiful wife Irini will make you feel so very welcome and can tell you everything you could possibly need to know. We experienced expert knowledge and exceptional service throughout our holiday. The Mochlos Blue swimming pool is an engineering wonder! being supplied by sea water 30metres underground. It is like swimming in smooth silky crystal clear water at the perfect temperature! Lastly but not least - I have to mention the view from the rooms and pool, just absolutely stunningly beautiful, unspoilt landscapes, mountains and sea as far as the eye can see. Simpson’s Nikos has gone the extra mile, as he does, and dealt with anything and everything. I shall be sad to leave and return to colder temperatures, but hope to be back again one day. Mochlos village and choice of tavernas around the bay are delightful, well worth the walk for dinner in the evening. Nikos and Hara at Mochlos Blue are really lovely and welcoming and we really enjoyed the 'smallness' (only 6 rooms) which was quite unique and we made some great new friends. Mrs Poppy makes divine cakes for breakfast! The freshly squeezed orange juice was great too. Very relaxing and peaceful - and thanks to Nikos for the mountain bike morning!

Very peaceful hotel with very clean pool & sun patio. Beautiful views over Mochlos village & island. Easy 10 minute walk to village seafront with choice of quality taverna food. Worth coming for the local fish available every day. Room service very good, lovely bedding changed twice a week. Showers always have plenty of hot water & thick soft towels. The beach towels were good too.

Mochlos Blue is a most delightful place to stay. Beautiful views, comfortable rooms and it all makes for a very relaxing holiday. The village of Mochlos has about 6 tavernas, all of which serve excellent food at reasonable prices. Hara prepared delicious breakfasts for us and the Simpson rep. Nikos was most helpful. I would recommend this hotel to anybody seeking a wonderful holiday.

Brilliant holiday…unfortunately we travelled on the Tuesday, 29th August (the day of the air traffic control glitch) flights cancelled etc….but we spoke and dealt with a lovely man called Shay and after a very fraught few hours and two trips to the airport we did manage to get to Mochlos Blue a good few hours later. I have to admit Simpson pulled out all the stops and we had a fabulous holiday. Nicos and Hara are lovely people and made us feel special…thank you.

We have enjoyed many Simpson holidays in previous years and our stay at Mochlos Blue is among the very best. Mochlos itself is a stunningly beautiful setting and within a few minutes walk of the hotel there is a wide choice of good tavernas. The pool area at the hotel was well-used by our family, (“almost too good to leave”) and travel to beaches in the area is relatively easy. Breakfasts served overlooking the pool and the sea were a highlight and the hotel staff could not have been more helpful.

A fantastic new addition to Simpson Travel. Everything about the hotel was just perfect and absolutely in keeping with what we have come to expect from Simpson Travel. The location is superb and just a 10 minute walk into the village, which had everything we needed and we didn’t have a need to venture further afield for dining options. Mochlos Blue makes the perfect hotel destination for a family holiday. We have spent a wonderful week here with our daughter, her husband, our son and his fiancée – all in their early 30s. We enjoyed relaxing by the pool and recommend Bar Raki for watching a beautiful sunset before supper. We had good food in all the tavernas but Ta Kochilia was probably our favourite. The ‘youngsters’ walked the Richtis Gorge, which they enjoyed – good footwear required! A day trip to Spinalonga, taking the boat from Elounda was also a great day trip if too much relaxation around the pool is a problem!

We had two wonderful weeks with wonderful weather. Spent every day by the pool, often all to ourselves. Tried a trip to Istron to find a beach – way too busy so turned round and came back to Mochlos Blue! Everyone at the hotel is very friendly. We have spent the last 14+ years travelling with Simpson – they never disappoint. Could well be back at Mochlos next year. A spot I hope doesn’t get spoilt.

What a wonderful week we have spent here recharging our batteries. Mochlos Blue fits perfectly with the Simpson ethos – it is a beautiful little hotel in an ideal location, just a 10-minute stroll into the sleepy little town. We tried four of the six tavernas – all delicious food and warm, welcoming staff. Hara was a delight at breakfast and Nikos helpful. All in all a fabulous week and we shall return.

Thank you for a wonderful holiday in such an idyllic situation. We have been very well looked after by all the team including concierge Nikos, Hava for excellent breakfast and Giorgios and family for all that they do. Mochlos is a delightful and very pretty village with 5 or 6 tavernas, all very good. Lots of places nearby to explore and visit including the world's oldest olive tree - 3000 years old! However, Mochlos Blue with its lovely pool made it difficult to drag ourselves away.

This is a great place to relax. The staff are charming, friendly and helpful. Breakfast is a great way to start the day and an opportunity to share idea on what to do with the other guests. For this holiday, the road less travelled has brought us to eastern Crete to the Mochlos Blue hotel, conveniently located just a short stroll from Mochlos itself. One particular aspect that we really enjoyed is the large pool and its terrace, which for a hotel that accommodates but 12 guests is generously sized and well equipped. As ever, people always make the difference and concierge Nicos and the lovely Hara have worked hard to ensure that we have enjoyed ourselves. Although Mochlos is a stand alone village, it acts as a very convenient base to explore both east and west. There is a pleasant, slightly bohemian vibe to the village, with a good choice of tavernas offering very enjoyable food. Thank you again Simpsons.

A memorable stay at this stunning hotel. Room was beautifully appointed, very comfy bed and tasteful decor. Amazing breakfasts from Poppy with homemade jams and local produce. Nikos our rep was most helpful in suggesting places to visit, Toplou Monastery, museum and winery a must. All in all, a most enjoyable stay.
