  • Delightful beachside Simpson Hotel
  • All suites with sea views
  • Beautiful gardens leading to beach
  • Poolside bar and restaurant

All that lies between this delightful hotel’s white-washed buildings and the wide sandy beach, that stretches almost as far as the eye can see, are beautiful tropical gardens, palm trees and a lush green lawn. Add to this an inviting swimming pool and GK Beach Hotel’s own restaurant and bar and you have one of the finest beachside locations in the Simpson portfolio. Soft, deep sand is shaded by tamarind trees and slopes gently into shallow water.  Here the relaxed pace of life, combined with the more modern elements, induces a wonderful sense of peace and well-being.

This small intimate beachside hotel and its friendly owners, Yiannis and Katerina, take great pleasure in ensuring that guests experience the very best of Cretan hospitality. All the 23 light and airy suites have delightful sea views with breakfast served every morning on the terrace by the swimming pool overlooking the beach.  GK's restaurant menu emphasises fresh local produce with many organic ingredients, some of which are harvested on their own land.

Fringed by the magnificent White Mountains of Western Crete, the GK Beach Hotel is an ideal spot in spring and autumn for walkers and explorers to enjoy the delightful traditional inland villages that have hardly changed for generations whilst the old historic Venetian harbour of Chania with its narrow streets is just a 25 minute drive whilst local shops and restaurants in nearby Kalyves are just a ten minute stroll away.

Relaxation comes in many forms and for those who enjoy being pampered, GK’s small Spa offers a holistic range of calming treatments whilst Simpson Travel’s knowledgeable concierge service can arrange anything from a special celebration to a personalised itinerary for a full day of island exploration.

Customer feedback

As always, a fantastic Simpson's holiday...all exactly as described in advance by Zoe and all accompanying photos/descriptions. Location (geographical and the hotel itself) in a truly naturally beautiful place. Fabulous combination of authentic, local experience and being treated like royalty. Lots to see and do when we went out, countryside, coast, antiquity and tourist spots....and lovely welcoming location to wake up and come home to. Very satisfied customer/traveller!! PS we are a family with 2 teenage children...so a challenging group to please!
Mrs Morgan October 2017

We were looking for a relaxing week in Crete, and found GK Beach hotel through a friend's recommendation - definitely one we would endorse. The location, the unfailingly helpful, knowledgeable and friendly staff and the comfortable well-equipped room plus the many personal touches made it just the break we wanted.
Mrs Norrie – October 2017

An excellent holiday at GK in Crete, with wonderful care from the reps Chris and Sevvy, as well as Harvey and Ray from time to time. This is a lovely small hotel in an ideal location. The hotel staff could not have done more for us and made us feel special.
Mr Wilkinson – October 2017

Superb spot with excellent facilities and support Both my wife and I are in our mid 70's and the flat terrain suited us very well. Sea bathing was a little difficult for our age. Staff and management support would be difficult to better.
Mr Pettifor – October 2017

We had a very relaxing week which was the intention of this holiday. Just wished we had booked two weeks instead of one! This is the second time we have used Simpson Travel and will definitely use them again. Thank you.
Mrs Steele – September 2017

We had an excellent week at the GK Beach Hotel. The hotel was wonderfully placed right next to the sea and the staff were, without exception, superb! It was very good to have a restaurant which meant that we did not have to go out every night. We were very pleased with our holiday. Thank you Simpsons.
Ms Young – September 2017

Gk Beach Hotel is just paradise. Everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The rooms are clean and comfortable and I liked having a fridge to chill the wine after a hard day on the beach! We will be back next year. And a big thanks to Chris and Sev for all their help. We love you guys !!!!
Mrs Norman – September 2017

The GK Beach Hotel is a little piece of paradise. It is small enough to be intimate and friendly but with excellent facilities, clean, modern rooms and beautifully kept outside spaces. All the time we were there, there wasn't one single episode of grumpiness or impatience from any of the staff. They are outstanding and a real asset to the hotel. They were so friendly and cheery and always went the extra mile with good spirits and a smile. Just lovely. The owners greeted us daily and were always charming and cheerful. The Simpson reps were very helpful and friendly and had very good knowledge of the area and were happy to arrange everything from taxis to excursions to any extras we required in our rooms. Including good sized, fluffy beach towels is a real bonus as they take up a lot of room in your suitcase if you have to bring them from home. The hotel room we stayed in was clean and modern with very good facilities. The balcony looked out over the sea and gardens. It was lovely to sit and watch the sunrise. The bed was really comfortable with good supportive pillows and good bed linen. There were tea and coffee making facilities, a hairdryer, an iron and ironing board and a good fridge. Fruit and a bottle of cold water was in our room for us when we arrived. The bar was very well stocked including a good selection of local wine. It was open until late. The restaurant served really good food all day with specials, which could be pre-ordered, until last orders at 9.30 pm. The food was delicious, really well cooked, good sized portions and nicely presented. Compliments to the chef/s. Breakfast was continental buffet style with a very good selection of cereals, pastries, fruits, cheese, meats, salads, eggs, omelettes, bacon, sausages etc. The sour dough bread was fresh every morning, soft and sweet with a good crispy crust. Not all hot food was served every day but there was always a good selection. The owners keep bees in the mountains and the honey from these bees, which gather pollen from the thyme, was simply the best honey I've ever eaten. Drizzled over the lovely, creamy Greek yoghurt was a morning feast. In addition was good quality Cretan ground coffee in a proper coffee pot enabling you to make it just as you like it. The freshly squeezed orange juice was also delicious. The private beach added to our enjoyment. It was kept clean and tidy, there were complimentary sunbeds and umbrellas and restaurant service was available right to your sunbed. It wasn't overcrowded and the sea was beautifully clear. I haven't really got anything negative to say about GK Beach Hotel. A real testament to it is the number of returning guests, several had been there many times, and I very much doubt that it will be our last trip.
Mrs Stevenson – September 2017

We had a very relaxing holiday at GK Beach hotel. The location was good, 20 minutes walk from the small town of Kalyves with its Tavernas and shops, but sufficiently far away to ensure that the beach was never crowded. The Simpson Travel Hotel managers were welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. The hotel staff were charming and efficient, contributing greatly to our enjoyment of the holiday
Mr Parker – September 2017

Great location, 25 steps to breakfast or a swim, 25 steps to a perfect beach - what more could you want.
Mrs Day – September 2017

Listen, part of me is loath to give these comments because I'd prefer GK Beach to be a secret that is shared only by those of us fortunate enough to have stayed there. But I have to give a massive hat's off to Simpson Travel. This is a wonderful place. If you want personable and personal service, a low key, informal atmosphere, high standards of cleanliness and attention to detail everywhere, fantastic food, stunning sunrises and sunsets, clean sand and warm seas, then this is the place to come. If you want stuffiness, formality and fawning servitude, then steer clear. This is a place where the people who work there are warm, genuine, natural and treat everyone as an individual - and I mean all the staff, from the gardener/bag handler/beach cleaner, through the cleaning staff, the bar and restaurant staff, the chefs, the Owners and the Simpson reps. Hush - don't tell anyone!
Mr Sloane – September 2017

Super hotel, great location and friendly staff. We couldn't ask for more.
Mrs Carroll – August 2017

A faultless holiday with an operator who makes holidays painless and have an amazing variety of holiday experiences to choose from. We are first time fans and will be back again soon for our next holiday- thank you
Mr Waine – August 2017

We had a lovely relaxing week in June. The hotel is on a nice stretch of beach, easy entry into the sea which gets deep quite quickly for swimming. Always plenty of sunbeds on the beach and drinks from the bar brought to you. Good selection of light meals available in the shade beside the beach. Huge pool with good steps and handrail into the water and again lots of comfortable sunbeds. The beds were also very comfortable, best we have ever had in Greece! All the very friendly staff were excellent. Highly recommended.
Mrs Heath – July 2017

GK in Crete continues to tick the boxes for all our holiday needs. We are a couple in our sixties, but still active, and the pool and beach areas at the hotel provide plenty of recreation. There is a short and not difficult walk to the nearby village and Tavernas who serve wonderful Cretan food at very reasonable cost. GK is a place we have been to many times and will continue to do so.
Mr Bailey – July 2017

We have just returned from a three centre holiday on Crete. The Simpson team had not only found us excellent properties but also made every effort to ensure we had a fantastic holiday. Many congratulations to Harvey and his Crete team! We can't wait to be in Crete again in 2018.
Mr Burton – July 2017

Lovely hotel, great staff, will definitely return.
Mr Payne – July 2017

From the moment I arrived till the moment I left everyone was so friendly and helpful and the place is utterly beautiful.
Miss Denham – July 2017

The gardens surrounding the hotel area beautiful and well maintained. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food is delicious, highly recommend the moussaka. The rooms are light and airy, clean and comfortable. Having a car which Simpson Travel arranged for us was a good idea to get about to explore the island, Crete is a beautiful island with lots to see and do. This hotel is a brilliant base to explore from or if you love a beach holiday with lots of relaxation it caters for that too as there is a lovely beach just outside your door. Mr Baldock – July 2017

We had a wonderful relaxing holiday at GK Beach Hotel, we will most likely return at sometime in the future and would recommend the hotel and Simpson Travel.
Mrs Hall – July 2017

We found Simpson Travel to be a friendly, efficient tour operator with a good range of properties and will certainly use them again.
Mr Morgan – July 2017

The GK Beach hotel was an excellent property that met the need of all ages from young to old. Well done Simpson Travel.
Mrs Stone – August 2016

Another wonderful holiday with Simpson. As always they were very helpful and provided a wonderful service. Have recommended them to all our friends. Their choice of hotels and attention to detail is second to none. Would not book with anyone else!
Mrs McGarrigle – August 2016

We stayed at GK Beach Hotel for a week with our 9 year old daughter. This was a ideal holiday; the location was close to Kalives and Chania. We didn't have a car, purposefully, and were able to walk or get the bus (air-conditioned). However it was difficult to move away from the resort. This was a perfect combination of a great pool in wonderful surroundings, right on the beach. The sea was perfect; shallow, clear and safe with occasional days of waves, which were great fun. Soft sand and fantastic views. Walks along the beach are a must. A long and luxurious breakfast each day with a fantastic spread with many options for adults and children alike. There are a number of beach-side tavernas within walking distance but the food and ambiance at the GK Beach Hotel was hard to beat. Our daughter had a wonderful holiday spending with friends she met at the Hotel and again spent most of the time in the pool or at the beach. This holiday worked for us as a family, and we hope to return
Mrs Spencer – August 2016

A perfect holiday thanks to Simpsons having thought of every little detail from start to finish so we didn't have to. The most relaxing holiday we've had as a family.
Mrs Forsyth – August 2016

We have just returned from our second visit to GK Beach Hotel, and have yet again had a fabulous holiday. The Simpson personnel on site work very hard to make sure that nothing is too much trouble, and that guests have a wonderful relaxing holiday. The owners of the hotel, bar and restaurant staff are friendly, efficient and welcoming. We'll definitely be back!
Mrs Marshall – August 2016

GK is the perfect place for an easy, lazy relaxing holiday. The hotel is beautifully designed with lovely décor and spacious surroundings. My apartment style room was extremely well equipped with fridge and simple cooking facilities, a large sea facing balcony and a very comfortable bed also facing the sea, you hardly wanted to leave it in the mornings! Breakfast was sumptuous described as continental but there were always several hot items on hand. Wonderful fresh fruit and yogurt ,home made honey also fresh eggs, ham, cheese and sweet pastries along with all the other things, great bacon too! The restaurant open for dinner served a variety of tasty food including daily local specials which were a treat. The hotel opens onto gardens then the restaurant, bar area, pool and finally the sea. A lovely bay, sandy beach with a breeze which was a welcome relief from the heat. It was a real treat that there was always a choice of sun beds and umbrellas on the beach and by the pool plenty for everyone and more. It's easy and lovely to do nothing there but there are tavernas to walk to and the village of Kalyves to visit by foot also some walks in the countryside from there. Also the beautiful city of Chania is a distinct pleasure to stroll around and lookout the stunning architecture. Having been on other Simpson holidays I think I'm safe to say that the people you meet on them are invariably friendly, charming and interesting as are the reps. Thank you again Simpson Travel!
Miss Denham – July 2016

Very professional in approach where required yet friendly and informal in manner throughout. Perfect balance for a travel company.
Mrs Gordon – July 2016

We booked Simpson travel this year following our Simpson experience in 2014 in Kalkan. The GK Beach Resort was recommended by some other guests in Kalkan and we were not disappointed. It provided the perfect family holiday blend that meant we all had a wonderful time. We have already recommended Simpson Travel to numerous people without hesitation.Who doesn't like good old fashioned service? Well done, keep up the good work.
Mr Evans – July 2016

Absolutely perfect holiday with our family! Most beautiful location on the beach- safe and friendly and happy times. Thank you!
Mrs Paskins – July 2016

GK is a haven of tranquility. A gem . Cedar Bay... What a location! Fantastic villa . Great staff . Once again well done Simpson. Sue and Tim Treweeks (King) Mrs King - June 2016 Simpson Travel provided excellent, professional service from the beginning to the end of our holiday. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff at home or at the resort and were extremely friendly and helpful.
Mrs King – June 2016

The GK Beach Hotel was absolutely delightful. We echo the comments of previous reviewers. An example of the brilliant service was the fact that our flight was delayed and we didn't arrive at the Hotel until 10 pm, but the chef had stayed on and still offered us the full dinner menu. On our last day, our departure taxi wasn't due until 5 pm, but we were kindly offered the use of a room until 5 pm, which meant we could have another glorious day lounging by the pool.
Mrs Dowing – June 2016

A great service from Simpson's again. Our holiday lived up to our expectations. It's great to know you really do get what is advertised and really feel that all of their staff care and are genuinely committed to giving you a good holiday. Thank you.
Mrs Andrews – June 2016

We return every year to spend an idyllic Simpsons holiday at GK Hotel in Kalives, Crete. The Simpson team ,Harvey, Sarah and Anne, provide an excellent service , the accommodation is comfortable and in a beautiful setting and all the staff are welcoming and friendly.
Mr McClelland – June 2016

We had a wonderful holiday with Simpson Travel. The staff from booking to staying at our hotel could not have been more helpful. They were all truly exceptional and worked well as a team. A heartfelt thank you for all your help and kindness.
Mrs Huntriss – June 2016

We have just returned from our second holiday with Simpson Travel and would thoroughly recommend the high quality of their hotels and the excellent service provided by all connected with them.
Mr Watney – June 2016

Excellent hotel; immaculate rooms and service; exceeded expectations. Thanks to all the staff.
Mrs Coleman – June 2016

To help you make the right choice based on your own priorities, we have devised a simple grading guide to be considered in conjunction with each individual property description, awarding up to a maximum of five stars for the below categories.
