Bonnieux’s shops and small restaurants are a gentle half-hour stroll away.
The house has been fully modernised to offer you full contemporary comfort, but the soul of this beautiful old building is very much intact. Ancient timbers support tiled ceilings, while huge window arches let the southern sunlight flood in over elegantly pared-back rooms. The ground floor opens out onto a leafy courtyard and several inviting terraces where you can relax as a group over a long lunch or revel in the soft warmth of a summer evening. There are five serene, air-conditioned bedrooms in total, including two separate studio rooms that work well for teens or anyone in the party who needs a little extra privacy.
Beyond the house, the gardens stretch out toward vineyards and open countryside, with a private pool and pool house inviting you to spend the whole day outside. From the boules pitch to the glorious Luberon views, Mas de Bonnieux feels like the essence of Provence, with all the magical landscapes and villages of this exceptionally lovely region just waiting to be explored.
The local area
Bonnieux is a destination in its own right, accessed in a few minutes by car or 30 minutes on foot along a pretty country path through the woods. The villages hosts some small shops and a good range of places to eat, from simple cafes to Michelin-rated restaurants. Climb the steps to the 12th C church for panoramic views, or learn about the history of baking at the quirky little bread museum. Market day is Friday, and for bigger shops and more restaurants, visit Apt or L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. This location also gives you easy access to Gordes and the northern Luberon villages, and also the south Luberon gems of Lourmarin and Ansouis. In the cooler spring and autumn months, the entire region is ideal for walking and cycling.

There's no better way to while away leisurely holiday hours than by visiting the many Provençal villages with their cobbled streets and cafés. The cities of Avignon, Orange, Nîmes and Arles offer an architecturally rich and cultural day out but try to make time for lesser-known gems like Vaison la Romaine, Uzès and Ile sur la Sorgue for a less crowded but equally impressive picture of the history of the region.
A day at the beach is always an option but you can find other open water options closer to home, from child-friendly paddling in the River Gardon below le Pont du Gard, to kayaking down La Sorgue as it winds its way through the Luberon. Close to Avignon, Lac de Monteux has a lifeguarded beach and various water activities for all ages.
