The beautiful south of Lefkada holds universal appeal. Though sleepier than the north, the glorious blue Ionian is playground enough for most and nowhere celebrates its appeal better than the San Nicolas Hotel. Enjoying full access to the hotel’s superb facilities, this charming enclave of Simpson Suites enjoys a particularly picturesque spot in the grounds and all rooms have a private outdoor seating area with sea view. It’s an easy stroll through the gardens to the restaurant or pool and there’s even a lift to whisk you up and down to the beach bar and water’s edge. Though communal areas are not adult-only and shared with non-Simpson guests, you will find the same attention to detail pervades throughout this effortlessly sophisticated hotel, alongside the exceptional levels of service we prize so highly.
Our eight contemporary suites are positioned on two levels; the four Penelope Suites set along an upper terrace and the Nafsika Suites below. All enjoy the dazzling view across the bay and though idyllic just for two, the layout works well for families who wish to book multiple rooms during peak weeks. Additionally, the Nafsika Suites can be interconnected to accommodate up to four and are well suited to those travelling with children under 11.
Despite the luxurious surroundings there’s a lovely relaxed vibe at the San Nicolas, entirely in-keeping with its location close to the authentic little village of Mikros Gialos. Just a 5-minute stroll away, a handful of unfussy tavernas and bars line the delightful crescent-shaped beach, and the slightly off-the-beaten-track setting means it never feels too over-run with tourists, even in high summer.
The best way to explore the island from here is undoubtedly by sea and the hotel concierge can arrange boat hire directly from the beach club. Potter along the coast to Syvota or head across to Meganissi for lunch by the harbour in Vathy before heading back for an atmospheric evening under the stars in the hotel’s highly regarded restaurant. This is Lefkada at its best.

Wonderful hotel, beautiful location, so peaceful with stunning views. The water is crystal clear, great for snorkelling. The rooms are spacious with the most comfortable beds and kept exceptionally clean. All the staff are very helpful, friendly and welcoming with nothing being too much trouble. There are a lot of steps and a sloping path down to the water's edge where there are many sun loungers and tables and chairs on different levels. Probably not suitable for people with limited mobility although there is a lift down to the beach bar. Had a fabulous holiday and would definitely recommend and go back.

Hotel San Nicolas is in a great sunny location on the east side of the bay, with beautiful views, excellent sea access and surprisingly good snorkelling. The beach bar/restaurant was excellent with great service to the loungers especially. Loungers were very numerous and so always available with a good choice of shady/sunny and pool or seaside, but the ones by the sea lacked cushions so could have been a wee bit comfier perhaps. The Simpson suites were excellent and the beds really comfy, albeit the pillows were a bit firm for our taste. We found the local tavernas to be easy to walk to, of really high quality and overall thought them slightly better value for dinner than the hotel restaurant which is perhaps trying just a little too hard to be the local ‘classy’ option, albeit its location for an al fresco dinner is truly lovely. All in all a very decent and easy to travel to Mediterranean ‘bolt hole’ for a quiet and relaxing seaside break in Lefkada.
Simpson Travel were able to step in and save our holiday with a last minute, yet excellent location. What’s more, the Simpson representative (Ionnais) was an amazing host ensuring our family saw Lefkada’s highlights and leaving us with dreams of returning.

San Nicolas Hotel is a lovely hotel and in a great location in Lefkada which is a really beautiful island . The staff were so friendly and helpful. Unfortunately my daughter was quite unwell that week but reception staff promptly sorted out a doctor's appointment for us. Yiannis was super helpful and went out of his way to assist us and stayed in touch throughout ,even on his day off.
Simpson Travel was outstanding. David found our holiday very quickly and exactly to our requirements. Booking process was easy, flights and car hire easy and Yani was exceptional at being attentive, knowledgeable, welcoming and our whole holiday was just fantastic. From our arrival at the airport we were welcomed by smiling, happy, and helpful Yiannis. This was the moment our holiday began in the care of Yiannis and Simpson Travel. Anything we needed, any suggestion, Yannis was on hand. He booked a fabulous table at Rachi – sunset of a lifetime. We had drinks and coffee with Yiannis throughout the week to check we were ok, but most importantly relaxing! This won’t be hard to say – we will be back.
We’ve had a wonderful week. The hotel staff have been very kind and looked after us very well. Thank you to Yiannis for his advice regarding things to do and places to see. We’d recommend the boat trip – hire from the hotel – it was a highlight. We loved Sivota, lots of lovely shops and restaurants. We spent most of our time at the beach bar and loved swimming and snorkelling in the gorgeous blue sea. Thank you for making our stay so amazing.

Yet another fantastic holiday experience from Simpsons Travel! The provision of pre-departure support including arrangement of car hire and detailed driving instructions removes much of the stress of travel days. The hotel property, a new partner for Simpsons this year, met the exacting standards and attention to detail we have come to expect, with beautiful views, comfortable rooms, attentive staff and within walking distance of our small village where there were several excellent tavernas. The larger towns were easily accessible and our local rep, Yiannis, went out of his way to make our trip a memorable one!
We spent a week in the San Nicolas Hotel, Lefkada in July '23. Everything about the trip, from booking onwards, was delightful. We loved the tranquil location and its stunning views. The vast pool and beach areas combined meant there was never any stress finding a sunbed. The staff were, without exception, friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was excellent and we also ate dinner in the hotel restaurant a few times because the food was so good. There are two greek tavernas a shot walk away which are among the best I've ever visited in Greece (and there have been more than a few). Overall a wonderful, relaxing holiday.
This was the perfect relaxing break that we needed. The hotel position and amenities were excellent, but the staff were superb. Cannot recommend it highly enough. If all your holidays are this good we will always use Simpson Travel.
We had a really lovely holiday. The staff were all extremely welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed hiring a boat for the day and a paddleboard. All very straightforward. It’s very peaceful and well run. The food was excellent in the restaurant although prices were higher than in the two local tavernas – food great in both. We played pool in the evenings, which was fun. We liked the feel of the place generally and would recommend it highly. Also, Yiannis was a lovely friendly presence and incredibly helpful. Thank you.
Loved the Hotel and staff. A beautiful setting with easy access to tavernas and small supermarket on foot. Yiannis was always cheerful and helpful. We knew that if we had had a problem/query we could call him. We met the other Simpson guests which made the holiday even more special. We are hoping to return next year.
What a super holiday, lovely hotel with really delightful staff who couldn’t have been more helpful. Beautiful sea and a few good restaurants in the village too, what more could you ask for? Worth hiring a car and visiting Sivota and Vasiliki, both really pretty little ports.
Lovely hotel in a great location. The suites were very comfortable with lots of outside space to relax in and very peaceful. All the staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. Great beach bar serving delicious snacks and the main restaurant with a stunning view over the sea and right next to the inviting swimming pool. The beach is accessed by a lift from the hotel but there are still a fair number of steps to negotiate. There are also a few very good Tavernas in the village which are within walking distance. We will be back!
This is our fourth Simpson holiday and once again we were delivered with our stay. The hotel is beautiful, our suite well-appointed and comfortable and the staff couldn’t be more helpful. The food in the hotel was excellent, as were both the tavernas down the hill. It would be difficult to find a better view anywhere. We must mention Yiannis, who went out of his way to make our holiday so enjoyable – so thank you everyone! We’ve loved every minute.
We cannot fault Simpson Travel for the service they provided for our holiday to San Nicolas Resort Hotel. Our room in the Penelope Suites was immaculate, large and airy. Simpson provided tea and coffee making facilities, a cool bag and beach bag for our use whilst there, which was much appreciated. Their guide to the local area and facilities was beautifully presented and very useful. Our Simpson rep Yiannis was welcoming and very helpful.

We had a fantastic holiday in Lefkada at San Nicolas hotel. The location was beautiful and quiet and all the staff were welcoming and approachable Yiannis was very knowledgable on the local area and we took his recommendations on a beach to visit and a restaurant for sunset which were both great. We hope to be back again.

Well where can we start... we were made to feel really welcomed as soon as we arrive and were shown to our suite. The views from the terrace are exceptional and we knew we had chosen correctly... our rep Yiannis is wonderful and extremely helpful. Swimming in pool and sea has been fabulous. Breakfast is great.
This hotel enjoys the most enviable position on the slopes of a tranquil bay at the waters edge. The staff are delightful, rooms and public areas spacious and coming in May meant everything is fresh and green with wonderful flowers everywhere. The beach bar service was outstanding with drinks and snacks delivered direct to your lounger by the sea - heaven! Local tavernas only a 5-10 mins stroll away for a change of scenery. Having a car meant we could go visit Nidri Waterfalls and take a ferry to Meganissi, as well as visit other bays of Sivota and Vassiliki. Simpson rep Yiannis was highly visible ensuring hotel were looking after us properly - he is a lovely person, as is his Manager Rania. Can’t wait for our next Simpson holiday!

We have had a fabulous week here, everything was superbly organised and nothing too much trouble for the staff who were all very friendly and helpful. Yiannis the concierge, a.k.a. Pavarotti, was a star in making us all feel very welcome and organising a fantastic motor boat hire which was the highlight of our week.
