Nestled into private gardens close to St-Tropez, Villa Seolane is a delightful, family-friendly property set within easy reach of the sandy beaches and charming hill villages that lend this area such enduring appeal.

With its terracotta tiles and sky-blue shutters, La Seolane looks every inch the classic Côte d’Azur villa, complete with palm trees in the garden and an immaculate swimming pool. The gardens are fully enclosed, with lots of lawn space for your children to play, and while you may be able to hear cars passing on the country road beyond, the villa and its grounds are completely hidden from view. Inside, the décor is stylish and practical, with a smart contemporary kitchen and a more relaxed country style in the living areas and bedrooms, complete with beamed ceilings and tiled floors.

You’ll probably want to mix up pool days and seaside days, and happily the white sands of Pampelonne beach are just a 15-minute drive away, do-able for even the most impatient little ones. For eating out, we recommend the gorgeous village of Gassin perched on a rocky outcrop with far-reaching views over vineyards and out to the bay of St-Tropez. Easier still, you can make the most of this beautiful home-from-home and enjoy a private, candle-lit dinner by your pool at La Seolane: no driver, baby-sitter or restaurant reservations required.

The local area

The glorious hilltop village of Gassin is only 2km away, with the most magnificent views over the gulf of St-Tropez and the Maures forest. A choice of restaurants on top of the ramparts offer great food to match the view. The main coastal areas can get very busy in high season, but La Seolane is ideally placed to avoid the traffic by using a shortcut to the famous Pampelonne beaches (10km) and the captivating village of Ramatuelle (6km). Nearby Grimaud (11km) hosts a music festival in July and August within the ruins of its own historic château. One of our favourites in this area is Port Grimaud; known locally as 'Little Venice' it’s crammed with cafés and restaurants overlooking the maze of canals and the main square. Don’t miss the market here on Thursdays and Sundays. The port is also the place to hop on a 20- minute ferry ride to St-Tropez, by far the quickest and simplest way to get there in the summer months.

The Mediterranean coastline of the Var region boasts 430km of sandy beaches, hidden coves sheltered by pine groves, and some of the Côte d’Azur’s most celebrated resorts. Ste-Maxime faces St-Tropez across its harbour, and has a fine beach, while Fréjus and St-Raphaël are pleasantly tranquil, overlooked by the lovely rugged scenery of the Massif de l’Estérel. For a different atmosphere and outlook, the arrière-pays (inland) is dotted with photogenic hilltop villages such as Seillans, Fayence, Bargemon and Mons. Further inland you’ll find the valley towns of Draguignan, Lorgues and the beautiful Abbaye du Thoronet.

Customer feedback

We so enjoyed staying in Villa Seolane. The villa is perfectly placed for access to beaches – Gigaro, St. Tropez and Pampelonne. We truly valued this fantastic location.
Jonathan, Fiona, Archie, Henry & Wilfred – August 2018

Staying in Villa Seolane was a total pleasure. The children loved the pool – having it ‘on tap’. The train trip to Monte Carlo worked out well for us and it is worth the experience. Pampelonne beach was quiet and pretty. All in all, a great holiday.
Karen, Nick, Laura & Jamie Cottle – August 2018

We had a wonderfully relaxing stay at Villa Seolane. It was a pleasure to stay in a much loved villa. Thank you very much François and Martine.

Our choice of French properties is diverse, ranging from simple charm to genuine luxury and style. Much of our portfolio is privately owned, and price alone is therefore not a universal guide. We contract all our accommodation in person, and each property has its individual appeal.

To help you make the right choice based on your own priorities, we have devised a simple grading guide to be considered in conjunction with each individual property description, awarding up to a maximum of five stars for the below categories.

Describing the Côte d’Azur as merely glamorous is to undervalue its charms. Of course, resorts such as St-Tropez and Ste-Maxime have enticed decades of glitterati to their sandy shores, but there’s far more behind the glitz and shimmer.

Traditional villages appear on picturesque coastlines and unspoilt hilltops; there’s Grasse, ‘the perfume capital of the world’, and the waterways of Port Grimaud, while Bandol has long been a seaside retreat for artists and writers. And along with the golden beaches, there are cliffs and mountains that make the Côte d’Azur area a far wilder story.
