  • 15m heated swimming pool
  • Extensive enclosed grounds
  • Games room and home cinema
  • Walking distance to pizzeria and boulangerie

Combining all the character of a Landaise farmhouse with luxuriously contemporary interiors, Le Vignau is one of the premier properties in the area. From the extensive grounds to the games room, home cinema, pool table and 15-metre private swimming pool, a stay at this beautiful house is likely to earn a place in your family history as one of the best holidays ever.

Le Vignau’s owners are parents of young children and have converted their farmhouse with the safety of little ones in mind, with plenty to keep older ones engaged both inside and out. The pool is generously-sized whether for lengths or just relaxing, set in a walled patio that creates a welcome suntrap in early or late season and can be floodlit for warm summer evenings. Social spaces invite you to linger and chat over a glass or two of excellent Bordeaux, with a large summer kitchen where aspiring chefs can muster little helpers to get involved at mealtimes. And if no-one’s keen to take on the role of cook, you’ll find the village pizzeria an easy five-minute walk away in Saubrigues, or take advantage of our bespoke catering service and be pampered by a private chef.

The local area

In addition to its pizzeria and boulangerie, Saubrigues boasts public tennis courts where guests of Le Vignau can play free of charge, while St Vincent-de-Tyrosse is the closest option for shopping, with a supermarket, small shops and a weekly Friday market.

Upmarket Hossegor is also within easy reach, with even more glorious sandy beaches. It’s a magnet for style-conscious teens, who can explore safely and easily on their own – and if they’re tempted to try surfing, this international hub is the perfect spot with numerous surf schools. However, there’s plenty more to do when the waves don’t appeal, including shopping in chic boutiques and bustling markets, cycling into the pine forests for a picnic or paddle-boarding on Hossegor’s tranquil lagoon. And once you’ve worked up an appetite, head down to the marina in nearby Capbreton for a more authentic taste of French life and some of the area’s best seafood restaurants, as well as a small fun park for little ones and an excellent fish market.

Days out

The grandeur and lively surf-chic of Belle Époque Biarritz make for a unique atmosphere, whether you’re braving the waves or just enjoying the spectacle from the cafés and restaurants along the shore. The Basque countryside is a delight to explore, from its pretty hilltop villages to the renowned fishing port of St-Jean-de-Luz. Bayonne, capital of the Pays Basque, sits quietly under the tourist radar but rewards visitors with narrow medieval streets and a fine Gothic cathedral, not to mention of course its eponymous jambon. Some of southern Europe’s most majestic mountains are accessible in the Pyrénées National Park, and if you over-do it on the climbs, there are thermal spa baths at Dax to soothe tired legs. For contemporary culture and tempting tapas, hop over the Spanish border and enjoy a day at the Guggenheim or a meal in sophisticated San Sebastian, home to some of the world’s finest restaurants.

Our choice of French properties is diverse, ranging from simple charm to genuine luxury and style. Much of our portfolio is privately owned, and price alone is therefore not a universal guide. We contract all our accommodation in person, and each property has its individual appeal.

To help you make the right choice based on your own priorities, we have devised a simple grading guide to be considered in conjunction with each individual property description, awarding up to a maximum of five stars for the below categories.
