The high standard restoration of these old stone stables has created a very stylish house, retaining original features such as stone walls and vaulted ceilings. A private swimming pool sits on the first floor terrace, whilst a large terrace takes advantage of the wonderful sea and mountain views. The village, Santa Reparata, has two small restaurants as well as a hotel restaurant during the summer months, a bakery, a grocer's and a butcher's shop and U Casale is just five kilometres from the town centre and sandy beaches of Ile Rousse, and three kilometres from Monticello, with its well-known gastronomic restaurant.
Follow your curiosity and take a stroll up into the more remote corners where time has eroded some of the ancient buildings and swifts swoop and chatter overhead. You can pick up the walking trails to Pigna from here or wend your way upwards to hilltop Sant’Antonino, which dates back to the 9th century. Both sit on the Route des Artisans with its arts and crafts workshops and array of local produce for tasting and taking home. For wine buffs, there are also two vineyards within eight miles of the villa, plus the popular Route des Vins, which passes through fashionable Lumio, a picturesque village with sandy beaches nearby and impressive views across the Golfe de Calvi. The nearest Michelin-star restaurant is in Salti in Regino, about a 20-minute drive away and next to a nine-hole golf course.
Stay in July and you’ll also have the pleasure of the annual Festivoce, Pigna’s international music festival, which offers a full programme of events, including concerts and performances in the streets, baroque churches, chapels and squares, all just a 15-minute drive away.

Excellent service was given to us by Simpson Travel at all times before and during our holiday, many small touches; travel tags, the welcome pack, escort to the villa, small gift on departure all added to the high-quality holiday and made us feel hugely valued. Thanks to all at Simpson Travel.
Martin Tate – October 2018
This was our third stay at U Casale and we are still very happy to re-visit. Once again, we didn't want to leave at the end of our stay, as we felt that we could relax there.
Peter & Barbara Yardley – October 2018
We have loved staying in this beautiful house and exploring the spectacular Balagne region. We have enjoyed lovely walks from here to St Antonino and Monticello where we had a delicious lunch at Hotel A Pasturella – good value and a lovely terrace. The villa’s pool is great and a welcome place to cool off after a long walk. Thanks to Debbie for all the helpful advice. We will definitely return to U Casale in the future.
J & D – September 2018
This was the fourth time we have travelled with Simpson Travel in five years – this year to U Casale and Vermentinu. It’s the little extras and care they take that sets them apart from other operators and why we keep coming back and will continue to do so. Their representatives are helpful, friendly and knowledgeable - and will go that extra mile to make your stay special... and every stay has been!
Andrew Wragg – September 2018
Simpson Travel is an outstanding company with great organisation, efficiency, accommodation and support...we could not have asked for more with our holiday at U Casale. Exceptional!
S Melman – August 2018
We used this accommodation last year as well as this and have already booked it for next year. The house is well appointed, the swimming pool fine, the views from the kitchen window while washing-up were magnificent as they were from all aspects. Although we went in October (just out of season) the weather was brilliant, making excursions and walks very pleasant. We have always found the Simpson Travel team extremely helpful.
Dr Yardley – October 2017
Superb, well appointed villa combining mountain and sea views. We have enjoyed a quiet and restful week, punctuated with 'interesting' driving. Highlights for us were visits to Sant' Antonino and to Notre Dame dell Serra from which views towards Calvi and Lumio were amazing. Debbie was friendly and helpful and lots of local knowledge. We hope to return.
Richard & Laura – October 2017
Fantastic holiday. The weather has been glorious. The villa and the views are truly wonderful. Corsica is a wild and beautiful island; unspoilt. Corsica is a wonderful blend of French and Italian. The scenery is spectacular even just when driving around. The artisan trail was fantastic and gave us great insight into local life. The shopping in Calvi was great, as well as the lunch overlooking the harbour. Our party very much enjoyed both the Ghjunchitu and Bodri beaches. Beautiful scenes and beautiful fine sand. A fantastic trip.
Jayne, Geoff, James & Juliet – September 2017
This is our third visit to this house and, as per the previous two times, we have had a wonderful week. Whilst the weather has been changeable, the peace and tranquillity of U Casale always helps deliver a great holiday. Everyone will give their recommendations for first-time visitors and mine would be simply to enjoy living amongst the village, try all three restaurants in the village as they are all excellent. If you enjoy walking (and even if you don't) try walking up the mountain behind the village. The views are spectacular and quite breathtaking, and well worth the blood, sweat and tears!
John & Diane – September 2017
We had an enjoyable stay here and found Debbie very helpful. The villa is very comfortable and we enjoyed using it as a base to explore the beautiful countryside and villages.
Julie & Chris – September 2017
U Casale is a lovely village house, modern and clean with views of both mountains to the east and the ocean to the west. An unspoilt and tranquil corner of France in spite of our visit being in the height of summer. Exceptional food and welcoming people.
Mr Williams – August 2017
Thank you for a wonderful stay, the villa is beautiful and the views are spectacular. It has been a magical week for us all – thank you!
The Burke Family – July 2017
Gorgeous Corsica! Our third wonderful holiday and I'm sure we will be back. Amazing views, amazing food, fabulous house and pool. Hope to see you soon!
The Havens Family – July 2017
U Casale has excellent facilities and superb views of mountains, nearby villages and the coast. The shop is only a few metres away as are good eating places. We particularly appreciated the integral garage and air conditioning as well as the broadband. Your rep (Debbie) was excellent. What a lovely island – we hope to return.
Mr Thomas – June 2017
A serene and idyllic week at U Casale – wonderful villa, well loved and thoroughly enjoyed. The girls adored the pool, and meals on the terrace were heavenly. We have adored Corsica and thoroughly intend to return. All in all, we had a wealth of fantastic experiences that were most definitely underpinned by U Casale, Debbie (who had some excellent tips!) and the team at Simpson Travel. Until next year!
Freya, Devi, Isca & Cosumia – June 2017
Simpson Travel has been great from start to finish. We had an exceptional villa that was an oasis of calm with all the facilities we could have wanted. Everything ran smoothly from the booking process through to arrival, advice during our trip and departure. It was a complete change from the manic feel that some of our holidays have had and was hugely helpful to our two young children to have a safe haven they could return to after busy days out. They spent hours in the pool and pottering around on the terraces. The views were unbelievable and we have already talked about coming back (which is generally a no-no for us). Thanks to all, including our excellent rep, Debbie.
Dr Lodge – June 2017
Another great holiday from Simpson Travel. The representatives are always very helpful. Debbie was very helpful whenever there was an issue. We were very pleased with the standard of the accommodation and the facilities.
Peter & Barbara – October 2016
Although just out of season, we had good weather and enjoyed a relaxing holiday in excellent accommodation.
Dr Yardley – October 2016
We thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our first visit to Corsica with Simpson Travel. The villa was fabulous and looked exactly the same in reality as on the website. The represntative was very helpful and nothing was too much trouble for her. We had such a great time we didn't want to come home! We will definitely book with Simpson Travel again.
Mrs Perry – June 2016
We've had a wonderful week here, enjoying morning and evening swims in the pool, and days out at the beach or walking. The location is lovely and we explored all the hill villages. Thank you to Debbie and Simpson Travel.
Mr Nash – October 2015
We've had a lovely holiday here in Corsica. The villa has been excellent and we cannot thank Debbie enough for making our holiday a relaxed, and well organised break. She really helped take the stress out of things and we appreciated the small gestures that made the villa feel like home. Thanks again!
Mr Florey – September 2015
Well done Simpson Travel, another winner!
Mr McPherson – September 2015
A lovely relaxing week in this gorgeous villa. Breakfast on the balcony with amazing views!
Mr Hines – August 2015
We have had a great stay in Corsica. Our favourite place during the week was Calvi.
Mrs Nancekivell – August 2015
I have had a good time here at U Casale. Love the white modern aspect of the villa. Thank you!
Mrs Guthrie – August 2015
We booked to stay at U Casale for a week in June, the booking process was really easy and the staff very helpful and accommodating. The villa was fantastic, exceptional quality and the most amazing views. Debbie (local representative) was very helpful and gave us some great recommendations for beaches and restaurants. We will definitely book with Simpson Travel again and would thoroughly recommend them.
Mrs Gould – June 2014
We had a lot of criteria to match for our holiday for three generations. Simpson Travel staff are excellent and have visited all the villas so can really you select one to suit. I was very impressed with the property we stayed in.
Mrs Plenderleith – June 2014
Lovely stay at U Casale. We really enjoyed the space and the views. Ours was mainly a walking holiday, we were amazingly lucky with the weather, no rain and mostly sunshine. Thanks very much for the stay.
Mr & Mrs Halstead – October 2013
U Casale was a beautiful property with stunning views over mountains one way and sea the other. The upstairs living space was superb with the feel of space and style. The rooms were comfortable and well serviced.
Mrs Crowley – July 2013
We have had a fantastic week staying in a fantastic villa. The views are amazing or rather stunning as my husband would say! The beaches are lovely and not that far to drive to. A trip into the mountains to swim in the river is highly recommended. Calvi is well worth a visit in the evening – we went there three times! Hope you have a wonderful holiday.
Mrs Lockhart – July 2013
A truly beautiful villa that fitted superbly with other family of six adults and three bambinos! The views are truly amazing! Spent a lot of time in the pool but lovely late afternoon trips to the sea with some wine to watch the sun go down. Also had a fantastic time at the Forest of Bonifacio and the rock pools – a really good day out. An absolutely memorable stay with all our family.
Mr Haddad – July 2013
Our honeymoon was made all the more special by the warm welcome of the Simpson Travel representative and the quality of the accommodation. Thank you!
Mrs Swinhoe – June 2013
Thanks for a great week in a fantastically presented and appointed villa. Excellent facilities – especially the kitchen and multi-media. The village setting is ideal – we all loved the cats and dogs in the village and our very own red kite who would swoop low over the pool to say hello. Then of course there are the views – Ile Rousse in one direction and the sea; mountain villages in the other. We stayed around the house and pool for most of the week but Ile Rousse is worth visiting. A great holiday, thanks again!
Mr Walmsley – May 2013
We stayed at U Casale for a week and the accommodation was excellent and is located with spectacular views over Ile Rousse to the north and the mountains to the south. The service from the Simpson local rep was first class.
Mr McAlister – April 2013
Fabulous villa, nicest we have ever stayed in. We were surprised at the town location but it was a pleasant surprise. This was our first visit to Corsica, what a great place, full of history and interest, great food, fabulous wines – clearly a well-kept secret. The roads were also a revelation and not for the faint hearted. Villages high in the hills were a surprise – how did our fore-bearers build them – and why!! Found the 9-hole golf course at Regino and enjoyed several rounds. Great success.
Mr & Mrs Bruce – September 2012
This is our fifth visit to Corsica over the years and we love the island more every time we come here. Normally, after a week, we are beginning to stir a bit and feel the need to get home but this time, we really really didn’t want to leave – wish we had at least another week here as a week just isn’t enough. The villa is just perfect in every way. The design, its practicality, the location, the breathtaking views – we cannot fault it, it is probably one of the best villas we have stayed in – truly, we can’t fault a single thing – wonderful! We have been quite lazy this time but Calvi is a must see, lovely for an evening meal. We also did some of the Artisan route to buy some local products – fabulous olive oil – the drive can be a little scary! But worth it too. The village here is nice too – bakers – so handy! A big thanks to our lovely rep too, a hive of local knowledge and who made us feel so welcome. Thank you, thank you. As Arnie says ‘I will be back’.
Mr Wilson – September 2012
A week wasn’t long enough, we’ll just have to come back. The house was a wonderful base and haven to come back to in the evenings; perfect for our mixed-age group (3-46 years). Little one enjoyed the pool very much. We recommend the butcher in the village and also the little grocer. The baker next door couldn’t be handier. Everyone has been very friendly, our daughter’s French and even my rusty Italian came in useful. Watch out for the eagle that did a fly past every morning and evening. We bathed in the sea (beaches a bit busy, could have gone further afield if we’d had more time) and in the river at Asco (scary driving but well worth it for the clear mountain air and water). Toured around several villages – very beautiful and atmospheric, (again would have gone further afield with more time). Thank you for a lovely week.
Mrs Pritchard – August 2012
We have really enjoyed our stay here in Corsica. We have liked the beaches the most, the one in Calvi was best for watersports. We used the baker practically every day. We could not find the butchers though. We spent a lot of time at the supermarket, which is humongous! Villa is very modern! Overall very good.
Mr and Mrs Westwood – July 2012
Totally spoiled – thank you U Casale! A beautiful home.
Mr Paine – July 2012
We have enjoyed living in Santa Reparata and have found the boulangerie (which has recently been refurbished) very good. Lozari became our favourite beach. We also liked Algajola – pretty town and castle with long sandy beach. For a break from the beach we would recommend exploring some of the Balagne villages and a trip to St. Florent and Calvi. We have had a restful time with plenty to see if we felt like a trip in a very comfortable house. Do sample the Corsican wine, which is excellent. We recommend Vin d’Orange or Vin de Citron as an apéritif! Enjoy your stay, we certainly have. P.S. Saleccia Park (near Lozari) is a must to see for Corsican flora in a pretty setting above the sea.
Mr & Mrs Burton – July 2012
Great place! Lovely to be in the village but so private and with such wonderful views. A visit to the forest of Bonifacio and bathing in the mountain pools was fantastic (and worth the drive).
Mr Wood – June 2012
Our second visit to Corsica with Simpson Travel. The villa is perfect. Beautifully decorated and how nice to have a holiday home where all the crockery matches! Can’t decide between the mountain or sea view – both spectacular! A couple of days we spent round the pool which is an inspiration – so warm and sheltered.
Mr & Mrs Carsley – June 2012
Our choice of Corsican properties is as diverse as the island itself, ranging from simple seaside charm to genuine luxury and style. Much of our portfolio is privately owned, and price alone is therefore not a universal guide. We contract all our accommodation in person, and each property has its individual appeal. To help you make the right choice based on your own priorities, we have devised a simple grading guide to be considered in conjunction with each individual property description, awarding up to a maximum of five stars for the below categories.
* For further clarification on Facilities and Amenities, please view the 'Details' tab for each property or speak to one of our experienced sales consultants.
With fishermen mending their nets by the harbour, Calvi’s maritime heritage remains intact. However, the town has gained a new lease of life in the cafés and bars along Quai Landry, linking the marina and the port, with stretches of beach beyond.
Inland, the unspoilt beauty of The Balagne tells a different story of mountain wildernesses and the island's unspoilt and uniquely fragrant maquis. Follow the Route des Artisans through terracotta-tiled hilltop villages, overlooking a landscape of forests and mountains, and you’ll also find that an excellent glass of local wine is never far away.
