Casa dei Limoni

Liguria, Italy

  • Charming hillside villa
  • On Ligurian coast
  • Delightful sea view
  • Light and airy

Perfect for a couple looking for a little more room or a family with an older child, two-bedroom Casa dei Limoni offers beautiful sweeping views across the Ligurian sea. This charming hillside cottage is also ideally located for exploring the spectacular coastline, driving the dramatic coastal roads and strolling the elegant promenades and cliffside villages of the Italian Riviera.

Whitewashed walls and large French doors create a light and airy feel, but it’s the garden that is the real highlight – and there, surrounded by lush greenery, you can sip your morning espresso or dig into an al fresco lunch with the scent of lemon trees in the air and the sight of fishermen busy on the waters below. The friendly owners live just behind the cottage, up a little hill and next to the lap pool with its mesmerising sea views. As keen sailors, they’re usually away, but they do share the pool if they’re home.

As the sun begins to set, take a short walk down to the gorgeous little town of Bonassola – or if you don’t fancy the rather steep descent, jump in the car – Casa dei Limoni offers the convenience of its own reserved parking space in town. Explore the beautiful piazzas, buy some of the local crafts and try the popular seafood restaurants.

The UNESCO World Heritage listed site, Cinque Terre, is a few miles south of Bonassola, with five picture-perfect villages of colourful houses perilously perched on a cliff-side, with some of the best hiking and bike trails in Europe.

Travel further afield and, in a couple of hours, you could be losing yourself within the labyrinthine alleyways of medieval Genoa or heading to the celebrity hideaway harbour town of Portofino. With its high-end boutiques, super yachts and narrow cobbled streets, it’s one of the Italian Riviera’s most popular destinations.

Customer Feedback

We had an extremely memorable stay in Casa dei Limoni in a place which felt special and off the tourist beat. We were very well looked after by the owner and her mother. The villa itself and its garden were a relaxing and peaceful place to unwind.
Mr & Mrs R Simpson – July 2018

We continue to be impressed with the high quality service provided by the Simpson Travel team. We wholeheartedly recommend them when you're considering your next summer holiday booking – particularly if you're looking for that extra bit of quality at a reasonable cost.
Mr Brittle – September 2017

The holiday was wonderful, the villa was exactly what we were hoping for, stunning location, very quiet and a short drive to the village. The owners were very friendly without being intrusive and brought us fresh figs and grapes from their garden every morning. They also had a private garage down in the village that we could park in. You were right to recommend a car, the road down was very steep and twisty with no pavement, certainly wouldn't have been easy or very safe with a baby buggy! The weather was also excellent, warm without being too hot and sticky. The only downside to the villa itself was that it's on a steep plot with steps up to the pool and an unfenced drop so I wouldn't say it was suitable for families with young children who can walk, but it was perfect for us as Dylan isn't mobile yet !
Melanie – September 2015

We thought Casa Dei Limoni was lovely and the setting so beautiful. We would definitely recommend it to others.
Mrs McGivern – September 2015

Well what can I say, it was literally one of the best holidays we have ever had! Federica and her family were so helpful and welcoming, the villa was well furnished with lovely beds and furnishings! The view was just to die for and the addition of the parking garage in town made going to the beach a breeze! Bonassola was just so perfect! It didn't have the huge crowds of the Cinque Terre and wasn't at all commercially ruined! The beach was amazing and the sea so warm I even went in myself!!!! The food was super amazing and we want to go back next year!!!! The booking process with you was very helpful and easy, move over France, Italy has won out! we have totally been missing out by going to France!! Our boys want to go back, and we literally didn't want to leave, we could have stayed for ever!!!
Lindsay – August 2015

We had a wonderful stay at Casa Dei Limoni! The view was spectacular; the house clean and well presented. The owner, Elena, was terribly helpful (from afar!) with everything from restaurant choices to her determination for us to witness the festival of tea lights and fireworks in Bonassola, and that night was truly one of the highlights of our stay. Please do feel free to use my comments to promote this magical and wonderful property.
Mrs Curtis – September 2014

A truly delightful week in a beautiful part of Italy at the home of a lovely family. Thank you so much.
Philip, Margaret & Nicholas Duly – August 2013

There is an element of Paradise here, the sea and the sky meet in front of your eyes, the tranquillity is a balm to the soul, the essence of the elements of land and sea combine to provide beautiful meals and wines. Well rested we travel on to Ravello, thankful to our hosts for a great welcome and continuing friendship. We must return!
Ms Bennett-Mills – August 2013

We arrived here as guests ...and we are leaving as friends! A truly amazing place ....and some great people. We will be back!
Sujit & Mamta – August 2013

Ian, Mary, Jack & Connor – August 2013

A peaceful and secluded villa in the perfect place for exploring the Cinque Terre and surrounding villages. Lovely walks and excellent food. We will be back.
Janice & Graham – June 2013

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa dei Limoni, we found the villa very comfortable and ideal to our needs. The owner and her daughter were very kind and helpful!
Mr Pendleton – June 2013

We’d like to thank everyone for their input into making our stay as Casa dei Limoni so enjoyable, from the time we booked and then Federica’s helpful e-mails just before we travelled/arrived. Special thanks to Elena for our welcome gifts and for looking after us with our small problems which were very soon solved. We loved the space of the villa and garden and having time to spend just gazing out at the sparkling sea below the house – so relaxing. It’s a beautiful oasis and Bonassola is such a nice place to wander around discovering shops for the things we needed. Everyone we met was so friendly.
Mrs Younger – June 2013

A simple but wonderful villa with a view that cannot be beaten. Federica was a wonderfully welcoming host and guided us on where to go and the best way to get there, etc. She gave us figs and grapes from the garden and generally looked after us well. She seemed to enjoy having guests staying and that makes all the difference. Bonassola is relatively quiet with few north European tourists but has a range of restaurants, a good beach with pedalos, etc and is surrounded by wonderful countryside. Great if you just want to get away from it all.
Mr Burt – August 2012

Thank you all for a lovely holiday, warm hospitality and very comfortable surroundings. We enjoyed our stay here very much and would recommend it to others for a relaxing chill out holiday in one of the most picturesque places in Northern Italy!
The Clarks – August 2012

Thank you for a great holiday. Very friendly welcome and useful information imparted, including a quick tour of the beautiful village and access to free parking! We enjoyed the two recommended restaurants and thanks for the info on the boat trip from Levanto to Cinque Terre. A lovely day out.
Kate & Doug – August 2012

We could not have asked for a better holiday. A beautiful house in a beautiful town! Everybody has been so friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed every minute and cannot wait to come back! Thank you very much for a lovely stay!

Rewarding travellers with coastal towns, sandy beaches and quiet harbours tucked away in rocky coves, the Italian Riviera offers more than a wonderfully mild climate. It’s also a destination of memorable day trips and incredible views.

East of Genoa’s palaces and exquisite old town lies the Gulf of Poets and the perfectly pastel (and perfectly balanced) villages of the Cinque Terre. Together with upmarket Portofino and picture-postcard towns like Portovenere, you’ll find a uniquely different holiday by the sea.

And to complete the picture, take a look at Casa dei Limoni, our lovely, handpicked Liguria villa.
