The name of the villa is no accident, for as our local Greek friend explains: “in Greek island life, the yalos is more than just a strip of sand or stone; it is the social heart of the coastal village, where fishing boats dock, people gather and seaside tavernas sell fresh seafood.”
Yalos is a detached, single-storey villa that will comfortably accommodate a couple or a smaller family. The distinctive, Ottoman-inspired roof and wooden ceiling lend character, complemented by beautiful blue sea views from both bedrooms as well as the lounge. The whole place has real, old-school Greek charm, updated by welcome additions such as air-conditioned bedrooms and a Smart TV. A hammock hangs invitingly, and Agios Dimitrios beach is just 30 metres away when it’s time for a cooling dip. To make your stay even more effortless, beach sunbeds are included with our compliments.
Yalos sits on the front row of the Pelagos villas, close to Posedonia but entirely separate with its own terrace and small garden area. It’s the perfect location to relax and recharge your batteries, with a restaurant, a beach bar and a beach club all within just a short stroll of the house.
Agios Dimitrios is a gem of a place, awash with the relaxed charm and natural beauty that has all but disappeared from many Greek islands, combined with some of the best tavernas on the whole of Alonnisos. For wider exploration of Alonnisos, the Chora and the many lovely east coast beaches can all be easily reached by hire car.
