NEW FOR 2027
Agios Dimitrios is the largest and arguably most scenic beach on Alonnisos, and pretty Posedonia is a detached, two-storey cottage that sits just 30 metres back from its shimmering shoreline. The position is very privileged, yet a stay here feels like Greece as it used to be: traditionally styled and warmly welcoming, ideal for anyone feeling nostalgic for simpler times and a more authentic Greek atmosphere.
With the beach so close – and beach sunbeds included, with our compliments – the main reason to spend time at the cottage is to enjoy its deep, shady terraces on both the ground and upper floors, a very welcome retreat when the sun is at its height. You can potter back and forth to the beach as you like to grab a drink, charge your phone or sit and enjoy a simple lunch in the shade. From the upstairs balcony you can look out over the calm blue of the Aegean to the small island of Peristera, famous for its 2,500-year-old shipwreck – qualified divers can visit this very significant site (you need to pre-book a slot), or if you want to stay on the surface, you can take a virtual tour at the Underwater Information Centre in Alonnisos Old Town.
The laid-back beach vibe of Posedonia is echoed in its immediate surroundings, with a restaurant, a beach bar and a beach club all within 200 to 700 metres of the house. The cottage is one of a cluster of five and sits on the front row along with Yalos to enjoy the best of the views.
Agios Dimitrios is one of this island’s absolute gems, offering the sleepy pace and unspoilt charm of Greece long before mass tourism, combined with some of the best tavernas on the whole of Alonnisos.

Looking for that elusive, unspoilt Greek island for your next holiday? Picture Alonnisos, where pine trees tumble down to turquoise seas, and pretty beaches invite you to swim in the clearest water in the Aegean. No ritz, no glitz, just an authentic working harbour, a picturesque old town and a scattering of holiday villas where you can enjoy blissfully peaceful days and glorious island views.
Alonnisos is part of the Northern Sporades National Marine park, a protected, land-and-sea wilderness which offers a haven for the Aegean’s most at-risk wildlife, including the critically endangered Mediterranean monk seal. A holiday on Alonnisos means slow travel at its best, with enough tavernas, beaches and gentle activities to make a wonderfully relaxed holiday without detracting from its serene and timeless beauty.
