Trullo Gigli has been painstakingly converted to respect as much of the original structure as possible, so the curves you see from the outside are there on the inside too, with the furnishings cleverly slotted in to make a feature of the archways and vaulted ceilings that make trulli houses so unique.
This being Puglia you’ll spend most of your time outside of course, and the grounds here are another lovely feature. An old oak tree sits next to the house, providing natural shade for the terrace, and there’s lots of sunbathing space around the 10-metre swimming pool. The garden is large, lawned and lush, with plenty of runaround room and a barbecue area with a big dining terrace for evenings in. For days or nights out, all the attraction of the Valle d’Itria are within easy reach, including Cisternino, Martina Franca, Ostuni and UNESCO-listed Alberobello. The coast at Torre Canne natural reserve is a half-hour drive away and day trips to the Baroque city of Lecce or the extraordinary town of Matera are also easy to navigate if you’re keen to explore a little further. Whether you believe in fairies or not, this is an absolutely magical place for a holiday.
