If you spend a lot of your day sitting or driving, then a brilliantly located villa like La Rovineta is the ultimate antidote, offering the freedom to walk to just about everything you need in a matter of minutes. It’s also an inspired choice for a mixed group or older teenagers who can get out and about to enjoy the beach, shops and low-key bars of Puerto Pollensa without the need for transport or a designated driver.

The original core of the building has been retained, complete with chunky stone walls and exposed ceiling beams, and then stylishly opened up with glass balustrades and a cut-away ceiling that lets the bright Mediterranean light flood in. With two twins and two doubles, the second of which sits in a little side annexe, this is a great configuration for an extended family or group of friends looking for somewhere suitably spacious but not isolated. The outside space is equally appealing, fully enclosed with lawns to run around on, and table tennis for a welcome off-screen diversion. Whole days drift gently past here, resting by the pool or admiring the Tramuntana mountain views from a spot in the shade. When the fridge is full, the wine is chilled and the barbecue is lit, it’s hard to think of a nicer place for a relaxing family meal, but if cooking is off your holiday menu, you’ll find a wide choice of restaurants just a five to ten-minute flat walk away.
