Houses for couples are always hard to find so Joanna's House set in the tiny hamlet of Arvanitakeika is a welcome addition to our Paxos collection.

Comfortable and light, the outside dining terrace and generously sized private pool belie its cosy interiors whilst the stunning views across the sea to Greece's mainland in one direction and the classic Paxos sunset in the other, make this house a rather special spot in a traditional environment.

Joanna’s House, along with The Windmill and Thodoris House, is one of three Simpson Travel properties nestled on a hillside in the tiny hamlet.

This was our fourth visit to Joanna’s House and our seventh to Paxos since 2011 and we love it just as much! The view from the terrace and pool is fantastic and must be the best on the island. We’ve had a lovely relaxing week and done lots of walking. We’ll be back.

Jane & Craig, June 2023

Delightful, private quiet accommodation with fantastic views. Fantastic view over the Ionian Sea with Corfu and Greece in the background. Lovely small village nearby with all the facilities you could wish for, a wide choice of restaurants, an excellent bakery, small supermarket, petrol station and even a pharmacy. The island is beautiful with charming ports, rugged coastlines, dappled olive groves and with an idealic climate. Villa and island are a perfect combination for relaxation and pleasure.

Peter Hicks, September 2022

Joanna’s House is idyllic in its location and has stupendous views to the north of the island and up to Corfu and over to the mainland. Sunsets are glorious as indeed are the sunrises which you have to go down the lane to fully appreciate. The outside space is excellent and the pool fantastic much bigger than expected. The accommodation is lovely only criticism would be the dated kitchen however we were so impressed that we have already booked for next year. Paxos is a real gem of an island with great food, beaches and crystal clear warm sea.

Anthony Doyle, July 2022

We loved the peace and beauty of the villa’s situation - the views were splendid with amazing sunsets. The villa itself, though small had everything one needed and with several outdoor seating areas and a beautiful pool it was perfect for us. The route to the property was rather steep and windy but we got used to it and it was great to have several good tavernas within a 5-10 minute drive. Our representative, “Lili” was extremely friendly and helpful.

David Whitehead, June 2022

Joanne’s house in Paxos, was beautiful, the view was stunning, and so quiet, allowed us the time to relax and enjoy everything that Paxos had to offer. The villa was lovely, bed soft and comfortable, and had all the right amenities. Car hire allowed us to see all parts of Paxos, but always go back to the villa, and cool down in the pool. We loved it.

Sarah Adams, June 2022

A week is definitely too short on Paxos, and certainly at this beautiful house with its amazing views, pool and sunsets.

Wendy and Dave Whitehead, June 2022

We loved Joanna's House with spectacular views and wonderful sunsets - peace and tranquility. We shall miss watching fireflies sitting on the balcony in the evening.

Tony and Sheena, May 2022

When Turkey looked like it was off the travel map Simpson Travel proved more than helpful changing our holiday to Paxos. We stayed at Joanna's House and had a fabulous two weeks. They say the best things come in small parcels and this was certainly true of Joanna's House. The villa was well equipped and very comfortable. It isn't often you find a bed more comfortable than the one you sleep in at home but this one was. The views from the terrace were spectacular; we spent many an evening with a glass of wine watching the sun set. After a morning visiting parts of the island it was perfect bliss to return and spend the afternoon in and around the pool and could often be found, elbows on the edge of the infinity pool, taking in the view. The property was exceedingly well looked after by the lady who came in and cleaned several times a week and the gardener and pool man. All staff, from airport meet and greet to David in resort, looked after us well. We loved Joanna's House and Paxos and hope it isn't too long before we return.

Returning for the second time to Paxos which is such a beautiful island with so much to see and do with lots of exploring as well as relaxing by the water’s edge or pool. Everyone so friendly and Simpson certainly did us proud.

Sally & Andrew Livingstone, September 2019

Our stay at Joanna’s House on the island of Paxos was one of the best holidays we have had. The house was a little gem. The facilities, the cleanliness and the views were excellent. We had such privacy and luxury we will definitely be using Simpson Travel again. Their recommendation of a boat trip round the island was also spot on. Such a lovely visit.

Mandy & Stuart Fox, August 2019

Paxos our first visit back to Greece for 40 years! Joanna’s House does exactly what it says on the tin! Firstly, you won’t get a better view and the sunsets were amazing. Secondly, the amenities, albeit basic, are all you need, not that you’ll spend much time indoors. Thirdly, it’s so peaceful (except for the cicadas!) – you sleep for hours on the sun loungers! Fourthly, the pool is all you could wish for and much time will be spent just resting on the edge staring at the view. Fifthly – we could go on… Greece has never been known for its culinary expertise and to that end, having tried many, we would recommend the local tavernas as much as the pricey restaurants. It’s been a great relaxing two weeks.

Peter & Jane, August 2019

Our first visit to Paxos. What a gem. We have never been to such a peaceful and private place before. The views are stunning – the hills steep. We took the all day trip around the island in a boat from Loggos. Thoroughly recommend it – the views, caves and sheer fun of it was great. The villa met all our expectations and more – the charm, the cleanliness and the facilities – thank you. Credit to the poolman – he was so helpful and the cleaner too. A truly lovely holiday in great accommodation.

Mandy & Stu, August 2019

Two weeks of absolute bliss – our honeymoon. The villa and island are just magical, providing us with exactly what we were looking for – lovely villa, mesmerising views, the sanctuary of a pool, peace, time to recharge the batteries. Thanks to Julie and Frances who were extremely helpful, providing great advice to find hidden tracks and routes to some amazing views from different parts of the island.

Gary & Nichola, August 2019

Joanna’s House was very cute and perfect for two people. Not a large property, but bedroom and outside space was excellent. Views to die for and extremely private. Ease of access to all villages easily within 10 minutes and walkable to Magazia where the tavernas are really pulling out the stops to entice you away from the coastal restaurants. We were never disappointed with any meal there, really authentic. Paxos is a joy, our most favourite small Greek island. Simpson has a quality choice to suit most tastes. Thank you, another fab holiday.

Sue & Ray, June 2019

We had an amazing week in Paxos and we were looked after extremely well by Frances. We will definitely be returning.

Mr Lister, June 2019

Our first visit to Paxos and it certainly won’t be our last! We are really glad we chose Joanna’s House. It was heavenly! Fabulous location and views, but just a few minutes’ drive to so many nice places – Loggos, Lakka, Gaios and Erimitis. We were grateful for the welcome pack and enjoyed a delicious simple pasta dish on our arrival. In Loggos we particularly liked ‘Roxi’ – friendly bar for coffee or drinks. Go through to the back and sit by the sea, or in front for the evening sun. Lots of restaurants to choose from. Lakka is slightly bigger – we liked the beach restaurant at Harami Beach, a short walk from the port, sunbeds provided. Gaios is lively and. Best of all – Erimitis Sunset Bar and restaurant – 7-minute drive but fabulous for drinks or dinner (book early) if you want a table at the edge. It’s very popular for watching the sunset. Thank you, Simpson Travel – you have been excellent.

Hugh & Terry, September 2018

From start to finish we had a wonderful holiday at Joanna’s House in Paxos and could not fault anything. The Simpson Travel team were so accommodating and their kindness and knowledge was much appreciated. We were the only people on the ferry transfer for whom it was the first visit, and we look forward to returning next year! Thank you all.

Andrew & Sally Livingstone, September 2018

Having visited Paxos on an excursion from Corfu 35 years ago, we finally decided to stay for a week. During our stay we visited several beaches, our favourite being Avlaki beach. Avlaki is a small, sheltered cove, really great for snorkelling. We spent one day on a small 30hp boat hired from Water Escapes in Gaios. We travelled easily all the way around Anti Paxos and found several quiet coves to drop anchor to snorkel and swim ashore. We spent two evenings at Kareklas Taverna which is a 15-minute walk from Joanna’s House. We also dined at Carnayo in Gaios, 5-minute walk from the busy Saturday night waterfront. We had seamless organisation from all staff at Simpson Travel on our first travel experience with them. We found Joanna’s House to be as just as we expected – perfect in every way.

Barry & Lynda, August 2018

So why do we come back to Paxos time after time – for the peace and friendliness of the people and the kindness of the Simpson Travel staff – nothing is too much trouble. Our favourite eatery is in Fontana – they greet us like old friends and we cannot wait to return. The most important thing we felt is the silence – stop and listen to it, where else in the world can you hear it? Admittedly, there were some very noisy days due to thunder storms which were spectacular but Joanna’s House is well placed to observe and marvel at the spectacular lightning. We are coming again soon in September – can’t wait.

Marian & Keith, June 2018

At every stage, from initial inquiries to departure at the airport as we returned home, we found Simpson Travel to be excellent: efficient, helpful and extremely professional. No query was too much trouble and the different stages of our journey were seamless due to the organisation and communication of reps and other staff. The villa was wonderful and we had a great time. I would highly recommend Simpson Travel to anyone.

Mrs Kendall, September 2017

Our third holiday on Paxos – previously stayed at Purple Apricot and The Windmill – both equally as wonderful as our stay here has been. The views on the terrace are outstanding – and we particularly enjoy the tranquillity on this part of the island, we've enjoyed many a walk down into Gaios and back – and through Ozias, a little village – really lovely. There's always been a little cove/beach that we have almost or sometimes had it totally to ourselves. Would recommend a walk down to Erimitis beach – wonderful! Joanna's House itself is terrific – plenty of outside space and a decent-sized swimming pool with a beautiful view, peace and quiet and a great space for a barbecue. Paxos just has to be explored and enjoyed – it has to be one of the most beautiful Greek islands. Thank you again to all at Simpson Travel for you expertise and seamless arrangements – we've had a fantastic two weeks.

Jo & Jon, September 2017

Joanna's House is such a lovely place. We have stayed in it three times now and will come again. The peace and the view is just fascinating and we keep an eye on the ships passing up and down, look them up on the internet and wonder at the way they cram so many people into them. Joanna's House is what we need in a busy life away from the crowds with just a beautiful pool and a few books.

Marian & Keith Thomas, July 2017
