Tucked away at the end of a peaceful cul-de-sac, Villa Alcantarilha enjoys elevated views across the surrounding countryside. The house is named after the village in which it’s located; Alcantarilha - meaning ‘little bridge' - is a conveniently short stroll away, with an attractively traditional feel, two restaurants and some very handy local shops. It’s also very close to Aqualand Algarve, the largest waterpark in the Algarve, which is only about five minutes’ drive away.

The location is an ideal base for exploring this beautiful stretch of the Algarve coast. In addition to the water park, within a few minutes’ drive, you’ll find long sandy beaches and the Salgados nature reserve, a perfect contrast to the nearby buzz of Armação de Pêra, known for its great choice of restaurants and nightlife. Porches, famous for its handmade pottery, is also nearby.

The villa is comfortable and well equipped as the owners live here for part of the so it feels like a real home; bright and welcoming from the moment you arrive. The ground floor is all open-plan and looks out over the garden, terrace and pool. Upstairs, two of the three bedrooms open onto a terrace with views across the surrounding countryside – an inviting spot to sit and savour the sunset. Downstairs, the main terrace is south facing so you get the best of the sunshine even in the cooler months, and if you’re travelling with children, the pool can be gated to give extra peace of mind. The entire Algarve coast has so much to offer for a family holiday, from bird sanctuaries to boat trips and of course mile upon mile of beautiful beaches, and Villa Alcantarilha is a wonderfully central base from which to explore it all.
