To the rear of the house, a feature window frames the view to the Monchique mountains, which is especially impressive at sunset. All but one of the ensuite bedrooms are on the lower floor and all have patio doors to give access down to the pool terrace with views across the countryside and colourful gardens.
The renovation added not just more space but also a host of extras to make your holiday time even more enjoyable, from the gas fire pit on the upper terrace for evenings after the sun has set, to the stylish pergolas, drinks fridge and LED lighting that lend a touch of beach-club glamour to the pool. There’s a barbecue kitchen and dining table on both levels, making eating in a very tempting option especially for families, but if you prefer an evening out, there’s a wide choice of restaurants in both Silves and Messines, each about a 12-minute drive away.
Silves is definitely worth taking some time to explore; once one of the grandest towns on the Algarve, comparable to Lisbon or Seville, today it’s best know for its very well-preserved castle and abundant fruit orchards, with an excellent daily market for fresh local produce. For beaches, head to Armação de Pêra or Carvoeiro, and if you’ve come to enjoy the Algarve’s world-renowned golf, there are five courses within a 20km radius.

Algarve holidays promise a wealth of different experiences and landscapes, whether you choose a private villa or a hotel as your base.
Portugal’s most southerly region boasts an iconic and instantly recognisable coastline of fine sandy beaches backed by ochre-yellow cliffs, sea stacks and rock archways that stand testament to the power of nature.
