NEW FOR 2026

Possibly our most glamorous villa in Sicily, Villa Marza is dressed to impress, from the his-n-hers vanity units in the garden to the hot tub and drinks fridge on the upper terrace, making this a super-cool chill-out pad for a couple or family with teenagers, just across the road from the beach in Santa Maria del Focallo.

The interiors are sun-lit and air-conditioned, with fibre-optic WiFi if you need to stay connected or feel like streaming your latest binge watch from the comfort of the terrace, screened from the sun by tilting slats that you can adjust to suit. There’s plenty of off-screen entertainment too, with lawns to play on and best of all, a gate at the bottom of the garden that leads out to the beach, just 10 metres away across the road. Santa Maria del Focallo is a stunning 8-kilometre long sandy beach, largely undeveloped due its protected status, and one of the best stretches of coast on the whole island. For the best sea views, just head up to your private hot-tub terrace, grab something chilled from the fridge and enjoy.

Tiny Santa Maria del Focallo is more a collection of holiday homes than an actual village, its one claim to fame being that it was one of the landing spots for Canadian troops during Operation Husky in WWII. Today it’s officially part of Ispica, about 15 minutes’ drive inland, where you’ll find many shops, cafes and restaurants. For alternative beaches we recommend nearby Pozzalo, the main ferry port for crossings to Malta, which is an attractive town in its own right with four lovely beaches.

The south east of Sicily - a region also referred to as the Val di Noto - is tailor-made for holidays, with its special blend of beaches and Baroque that makes it unlike anywhere else. Syracuse was one of the very first urban settlements in Europe, and you don’t need to spend long in this very charming coastal city - and Ortigia, its glorious, honey-coloured old town - to understand why. The area is an idyllic base for a villa holiday, rich in history and brimming with restaurants that showcase the very best produce from land and sea.

South of Syracuse, the coastline unfolds into some of Sicily’s finest beaches. Fontane Bianche, with its white sand and turquoise water offers classic beach days out from your villa, while Capo Murro di Porco is the place to head for waves and wild beauty. Continuing south you’ll find an almost unbroken stretch of beaches, punctuated by delightful seaside towns like Lido di Noto, Marina di Modica and Marina di Ragusa. The unspoilt shores of the Vendicari reserve are alive with birdlife, and San Lorenzo and Calamosche are highlights for any beach-lover’s hit list. The 8km-long stretch of beach at Santa Maria del Focallo is also one our personal favourites.

Encompassing the whole of the south-eastern corner of Sicily, Val di Noto stretches from the Baroque splendour of UNESCO-heritage towns like Noto, Modica, Ragusa, Scicli, Palazzolo Acreide, Caltagirone, Militello and Ispica down to the southern coastline, through rolling landscapes of olive groves and vineyards.
