Set up high for the views, yet just a 10-minute walk down to the centre of Carvoeiro, Casa Eleanora is a lovely, family-friendly villa with lots of space and high levels of comfort making for a really easy, relaxing stay. The interiors are elegantly contemporary and very practical for a larger party, with a sleek new kitchen and a superb sun room.
The layout is a little different to the Algarve villa norm, with a gallery overlooking the lounge making the villa feel extra light and spacious. There’s a glass-fronted sun room that runs the whole length of the house, creating a lovely spot to sit in quiet of early morning, or late season days when the sun takes a little longer to climb high in the sky. The walled pool terrace is also a wonderful sun trap, and pool can be heated for those spring or autumn months should you wish.
With several distinct living and dining areas both inside and out, Casa Eleanora is a great choice for a group or two families, with kids and adults (or perhaps the guys and the girls) able to find their own space to chat, play a game or enjoy a glass or two of excellent Portuguese wine. Teens and independent kids can also easily make their own way down into Carvoeiro, where there are restaurants, cafes and shops aplenty, and if older legs don’t fancy the walk back up, taxis from the town square are plentiful and reasonably priced – no judgment!

Algarve holidays promise a wealth of different experiences and landscapes, whether you choose a private villa or a hotel as your base.

Portuguese cuisine is in our view one of the most underrated in Europe, so prepare to be deliciously surprised by fresh fish, hearty stews, sweet pastries and of course, world-renowned wines: saúde!
