Mas d’Eygalières delivers contemporary style with a side order of Provençal charm, set in a peaceful residential enclave just a 15-minute stroll from the heart of Eygalières, a favourite with Simpson Travellers for several years thanks to its genuine village charm and handful of excellent restaurants. NEW FOR 2026

Recently renovated, the house is immaculate and ideal for families, groups or a multi-generation gathering.

With its tawny-coloured stonework and terracotta roof, this lovely country home was charming even before its 2023 glow up, which has taken the interior space to a new level of understated luxury. Each of the five bedrooms has not just its own en suite, but also a dressing area, offering a little extra space for your suitcase and summer wardrobe. There’s one bedroom on the ground floor that opens onto the garden, three more upstairs with views over the Alpilles hills, and a fifth set in a separate guest annexe beside the pool, close enough to feel connected but perfect when you need a little extra privacy.

Outside there’s plenty of flat, grassy space for the kids to play on and ping pong by the 13m pool, plus loungers for everyone and that all-important dining table in the shade. There’s a gas barbecue here for easy family meals, and if you feel like rustling up something more elaborate, step inside to the beautiful sleek new kitchen and you’ll find everything you need. Eygalières market on a Friday morning offers more culinary inspiration, but if cooking’s firmly off your holiday agenda, you can wander into Eygalières and find an appetising mix of village restaurants, cafés and local bars, with a much wider choice available in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, only 15 minutes away by car.

The local area

Eygalières may look like it stepped straight out of a postcard, but it sits just far enough from the main tourist trail to feel wonderfully authentic. You’ll find everything you need for day-to-day shopping, and if you’re here on a Friday, the village market is a must. The rest of the week, life moves at an easy pace. The village perches on a limestone ridge, offering wide-open views of the surrounding countryside and the Alpilles mountains.

When you’re ready to explore, Saint-Rémy-de-Provence is highly recommended as a first port of call. Pop into its small museum dedicated to Van Gogh’s time in the region, wander its chic boutiques, or linger over coffee in one of its many cafés and restaurants. Just south of town, the ancient Roman city of Glanum has remains of a forum, baths, and temple.

Head north and you’ll reach Avignon in about 45 minutes, a full-day outing with a fantastic food market, the UNESCO-listed Petit Palais museum, and of course, the iconic “pont.” Alternatively skip the cities and head into the rolling hills of the Parc Naturel Régional des Alpilles, where marked trails weave through vineyards and olive groves up to craggy summits, and the quiet natural beauty of this region is revealed.

There's no better way to while away leisurely holiday hours than by visiting the many Provençal villages with their cobbled streets and cafés. Hilltop towns glow in pale golden stone, surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and fields of fragrant purple lavender. From celebrated Gordes to charming Eygalières, each town has a market to help you discover local produce, or treat yourself to a long lazy lunch; from pavement cafés to Michelin stars, the midday meal in France is nothing short of an art form.

The cities of Avignon, Orange, Nîmes and Arles offer an architecturally rich and cultural day out but try to make time for lesser-known gems like Vaison la Romaine, Uzès and Ile sur la Sorgue for a less crowded but equally impressive picture of the history of the region.

A day at the beach is always an option but you can find other open water options closer to home, from child-friendly paddling in the River Gardon below le Pont du Gard, to kayaking down La Sorgue as it winds its way through the Luberon. Close to Avignon, Lac de Monteux has a lifeguarded beach and various water activities for all ages.

This is a destination to rival any other. Complemented by our selection of handpicked villas we can help you make the most of your luxury holiday in Provence.
