Resort Concierge Calvi & Balagne

You in a nutshell…
For the last 35 years, ever since I left the UK and permanently moved to Calvi in Corsica, travel has been a big part of who I am. I love exploring new places in Corsica and around the world and genuinely enjoy meeting people from all walks of life.
Why do you work in travel?
I arrived in Corsica with no experience of the travel industry. I didn't find the job, it found me and the rest is just history! It was an easy and natural transition from my previous work experience. I'm grateful to do something I'm passionate about and I can't imagine doing anything else.
Why do you love your destination?
I have a soft spot for the Balagne region of Corsica, I love it's authenticity, beautiful beaches and the mountain villages. The Artisan's Route – or as it's commonly known "The Old Villages" – in my area is unique, there is no other circuit like this in Corsica. Having said that, the whole island is stunning and each region has its speciality.
Your top tip…
I have 2 top tips! The first is to go and explore the old villages of the Balagne, some of which are the oldest inhabited villages in Corsica; for me this is a "must do". I always recommend this half day outing, as it gives guests an opportunity to experience an authentic side of Corsica, its history and a chance to sample local specialities. An equally amazing day out is to the Fango valley mountain rock pools, a beautiful unspoilt area, surrounded by rugged mountains. It's a wonderfully refreshing, peaceful alternative to the sometimes busy beaches.
Not a lot of people know this but…
I have an ice-cream maker in the family! My eldest daughter married an artisan ice-cream maker last year, who creates homemade ice-cream using local produce and other wonderful flavours. Needless to say, I'm a very enthusiastic tester..
