Periyali Crèche & Children's Club Greece, Zakynthos
Simpson’s Crèche and Children’s Club and the Periyali villas in Zakynthos provide the chance for families to have all their individual needs met. The villas are spread out over three acres of mature gardens and trees: a location unparalleled for families, combining service and first class childcare, with local culture reflected in both the design and spirit of these attractive properties.
The mood here is of space and freedom, yet within a safe and child-friendly environment. At any time families can enjoy their own private villa, garden and small pool, or be more sociable at the large shared swimming pool, relaxing with light meals at the poolside bar.
Periyali stands on the lovely Vassilikos peninsula in a peaceful rural setting only minutes from the sea and with a backdrop of craggy hills rising in the distance. It is only a short stroll to the famous beach and conservation area at Gerakas which was named by The Sunday Times as one of the twelve 'Top Beaches of Europe'. Here, there is a stunning expanse of sand and shallow waters ideal for children.
New for 2014 – Ariadne, Kaliopi, Lito, Ourania and Penelope villas are being refurbished. New photos coming soon.

It was a great trip. Thank you to everyone who helped put it together. Back home feeling relaxed and happy after a lovely week away with my husband and children. Bliss! Now back to reality! xThalia - sea facing - Mrs Boxall-Hunt - September 2013
Lovely location and perfectly set up to provide a happy and relaxing holiday for families with small children.Artemis - sea facing - Mr Bond - September 2013
Fantastic holiday - we can't recommend the quality of the nursery enough. The overall resort is lovely and unspoilt and is large enough for you to be as private or communal as you want. The poolbar staff were brilliant and the spa treatments were divine. We totally loved it.Nefeli - single storey - Mr Bryant - September 2013
We had a fantastic stay at Periyali. The pictures are a true representation of what you can expect and we were really well looked after by the simpson staff. The creche is fantastic and our daughter thoroughly enjoyed it. This was a lovely family holiday and we'd love to return.Lito - garden view - Mrs Old - August 2013
We thoroughly enjoyed the Periyali Villas. It has a great mix of relaxation for parents and the turtle club for kids. Lovely and quiet, in a beautiful setting with excellent staff. highly recommended Ourania - garden view - Mrs Kay - August 2013
The Periyali in Zakynthos, Greece far exceeded our expectations for a family holiday. The service prior to departure from Simpson was excellent and this level of service continued throughout our stay. The property we stayed in was lovely, it was clean and bright and had a lovely plunge pool and patio area. It was great for the kids to socialise with the other children, who were all of a similar age, around the communal pool area and also for the adults. The childcare was superb, all nannies were wonderful with the children and you could tell they loved working there. The surrounding beaches were great, we particularly loved the calm waters of Gerakas beach which was very child friendly.
We had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend Periyali if you have a young family and are looking for a holiday to keep both the adults and the children very happy!Penelope - garden view - Mrs Neville - August 2013
Fantastic value for money, coupled with a dedicated holiday team to make the holiday the most relaxed or adventurous as needed. Unbeatable poolside cuisine and waiter service that is second to none. A holiday destination that is definitely set above the rest.Hera - single storey - Mr Doyle - May 2013
Fantastic 2 weeks away. It gave us some much needed 'Us' time knowing our son was safe and having fun in the creche. Will definitely be coming back again!Lito - garden view - Mrs Houlden - May 2013
Our 2 year old twins excelled tremendously in the crecheHera - single storey - Mr Crouse - October 2012
The tone for the holiday was set as we were met at the airport and and Kelly said hello to all the children using their names. We were so impressed from that moment on. The standard of the villas, the cleanliness around the pool, along with Chris and Brenda who could not have more helpful and friendly. The local amenities are brilliant. We had the perfect family holiday. Heaven!Hera - single storey - Mrs Faith - September 2012
Fantastic location and set up. We would go back a third time but feel our children now a bit old so looking for an alternative for next year although it will be hard to match.Thalia - sea facing - Mrs Dodd - July 2012
Please find more periyalis in Italy, France, Majorca, Ibiza........Artemis - sea facing - Mrs Rayner - June 2012
Excellent relaxing holiday even with a 1 year old! The girls at the crèche are fab and Martha really enjoyed her time there.
It is worth going for a swim/snorkel down at the beach by the swimming pool without the kids. We tried the new water park at Tsivili – good for little children (under 10s).
We will definitely be back next year!Mr & Mrs Wells - September 2010
Beaches: we found that Gerakas had everything that George needed so tended to walk there.
Fort above Zakynthos is hard to find (signposting is minimal) but we enjoyed it a lot (3 euros entry).
George had a great time at the crèche (DVDs for hire are useful, ask at the crèche).Mr & Mrs King - September 2010
Fantastic place, we’ve had 2 weeks of fab holiday.
Crèche: wonderful – kids loved it and were well cared for. Janelle and Nicki were superb and were a real hit with our 2 boys. Louis had never experienced a crèche and he settled in very well. Sam was very eager to go too!
Gerakas Beach: by far the best beach for adults and kids. Just a short walk from the villas, with great sand for building sandcastles and brilliant shallow sea for kids.
P.S Marcia, Great and friendly. Sandi at the pool was also great and very friendly. All in all a top holiday.
Tip to Simpson: give access to other villa guest books – really useful tips to be found and shared.Mr & Mrs Masterman - September 2010
Our first overseas holiday with our new family (2 year old son and 5 month baby girl) and Periyali Villas delivered everything it promised.
It was a relaxing environment and we really enjoyed ourselves. The crèche was amazing, Janelle and the other girls (Nicky and Wendy) really looked after the kids and they loved it.
Overall a thoroughly good holiday and would love to come back.Mr & Mrs Deeprose - August 2010
A very relaxing holiday!
A few tips and ideas: the turtle watching trip on the Catamaran with the ‘Earth Sea and Sky centre’ near Gerakas Beach was great. A lovely boat with loads of space and a very informative volunteer accompanied us. (Also cheaper than Mario's boat trip which looked quite crowded).
Our nearly 8 and 10 year old sons loved the water park at Sarakinado.
Although late in the season it is worth visiting Gerakas Beach at 7am to spot hatchlings – we saw quite a few!
The local supermarket, Maria sells charcoal – whatever amount you want.Mr & Mrs Bambrough - August 2010
We have enjoyed our holiday tremendously. First impressions weren’t that great, as lights were missing and the downstairs fan wasn’t working. Marcia (the rep) was very responsive at dealing with our immediate issues and resolving them.
We really enjoyed the beaches and the pool and our 3 year old son loved the playgrounds at the tavernas. All in all it was a great holiday!Mr & Mrs Stewart - August 2010
We have had a great time here with our 6 year on and (just turrned) 4 year old. It’s a really beautiful island.
Beaches: Gerakas is beautiful and obviously handy. We loved Dafni Beach (take the second turning off the coast road) which is not only calm with an amazing wide view but has natural shade from tress, which really makes a difference ... very civilised for a ‘grown up’ frappe when the children are in Turtle Club (which they really loved).
Trips: we really enjoyed the trip with Mario in his glass bottom boat, to see the turtles. It’s getting a bit late in the year to spot many – but we saw two – a male and a female and they really are amazing creatures! We also saw several hatchlings emerging from their nests on Dafni Beach and trying to make it to the sea. They are such fragile tiny creatures it’s no surprise they don’t often survive. Mario told us lots of interesting information about the turtles on his boat trip – including showing a skull and some unsuccessful hatchlings that he had found on the beach. We also drove to the other end of the island and tried to go to the shipwreck beach but the weather was too rough when we arrived so we took a shorter boast trip in to the ‘Blue Caves’ which was pleasant if not spectacular. Finally the new water park in Tsvili is worth visiting, but go after 2.30 when it is cheaper and you can spend the morning doing something else!
That’s enough from us – we hope you have an equally enjoyable stay!Mr & Mrs Crosby - August 2010
We have had a very relaxing week here, the weather apparently high 30s so the pools have been well used. Everyone is friendly and nothing too much trouble.
Gerakas Beach was our favorite in the end, particularly late afternoon on wards. It closes at 7pm.
We have been snorkeling at various places; small cove at the bottom of the garden is the best place with lots of fish and a sunken anchor. There is supposed to be a monkseal that visits but we didn't see him. Right hand end of Gerakas Beach is best for easy snorkeling, shallow water, rounded rocks and big fish. Zakynthos town is worth a visit at night.
Turtle info place on the way to the beach is very nice, friendly and interesting.
We drove to Keri to hire a boat for the day, but they had all gone by the time we got there. We were told that as its high season you need to get there early (hire starts at 9) and cost 80 euros per day!
A great week and would love to come back again.Mr & Mrs Dodd - August 2010
Marcia: fantastic, so helpful and always there to answer any questions.
Pool and Sandra: lovely food from the chalk board. Always there keeping the main pool as a place that we loved to spend days at.
Banana Beach: Great. The rides are expensive.
Turtle Club: Fantastic! The boys loved it and the staff were brilliant.
Gerakas Beach: absolutely lovely, especially between 8 and 10 am.
Some great running route too – ask Marcia.Mr & Mrs Diss - August 2010
Another lovely holiday in Hera, thanks to the Turtle Club staff especially. Our boys had a fantastic time there this year.Mr & Mrs Routledge - July 2010
What a lovely relaxing couple of weeks we’ve had! With three small children Rosie 6, Bella 4 and Tilly 18 months, this certainly has been the break we had hoped for.
A perfect holiday for us is to spend time with our kids, time on our own and doing as little as possible, due to our busy lives at home and this has ticked all of the boxes.
The kids club has been lovely. The girls all really enjoyed it. Jannelle, Wendy and Nicky have been wonderful.
Well what have we done...we drove as far north of the island as we could one day before the kids went into meltdown, but generally we have enjoyed staying around here, paddling in the sea at the small pebbly cave, playing in the sand at Gerakas.
Rosie, 6 particularly liked looking at the moon on the water from the viewing platform late at night.
Well what more can I say apart from already booked our holiday here for next year!
Thank you all.Ms Jones - July 2010
We have had a great time, kids club really good – older two wanted to go back in the second week even though we had not booked it in the UK! Anna (1½) really settled in there well so thanks to all the lovely ladies there.
Turtle boat trip (Mario’s) was great; we left the little ones at home though.Mr & Mrs Johnson - July 2010
Lucy age 9: Lovely villa! The bungalows are great! Banana Beach is great with all the fun things to do! Banana Baya is so relaxing with all the music, beautiful area! I love the pool! I love Zakynthos! The water park, Splash Park, is so much fun: there are slides, a children’s play areas and a swimming pool! Enjoy!
Parents: fourth year at Periyali – Great, great holiday as usual.
Half a day on Mario's boat – great trip to see the turtles. If you get to the new water park in Tsvilli after 2.30 it is half price.Mr & Mrs Shaw - July 2010
This is our second visit to Periyali Villas – last year we stayed for two weeks in Artemis.
What we liked best: great location and lots of other children for ours to make friends with.
Favourite beach: Dafni, about 15 minutes drive but well worth it. Beach is great for exploring the rocks and very shallow water for children.
Worth a visit: splash water park, it was great for our children, its half price after 2.30 which still gives you a couple of hours.
P.S have fun – take a walk down the steps from Periyali to the stony beach, but watch out for sea urchins.Mr Smith - July 2010
A delightful complex for young families! We have really enjoyed our week, with our daughter and son-in-law and darling grandchildren, Rufus (4½ ), Finn (2½) and baby Marina (2½ months). They are staying another week so will enjoy the ‘kids club’ when we have gone! Their little cottage is charming too!
We can really recommend Mario’s turtle tour, it is expensive, but he certainly shows you lots of turtles! The baby came too!
Simpson Travel provided great service! Marcia was so helpful! Thank you for a lovely time in Nefeli.Mr & Mrs Horn - June 2010
We have all had a really fantastic time here – the accommodation is very comfortable and our complex is well planned, run and maintained.
Gerakas Beach is easily our favourite place to spend the day, although Banana Beach is also good, if more commercial and noisy. Our kids loved playing in the communal pool in the middle of the complex, often we had it all to ourselves.
Hope you have as good a time as we have!
Marcia the rep was very helpful and a font of information. We loved it here and will definitely be back – we wish we had booked 2 weeks...
Mr & Mrs Brichano - June 2010
We have thoroughly enjoyed our week here. Our son who is 3½ does not want to leave. We have been impressed with the children’s club – our son has kept saying how much he likes it and ‘his teachers’ in our opinion Janelle, Wendy and Nicky have been outstanding as has the art work he has come back with. His happiness and enjoyment in the mornings had made it a relaxing break for my husband and I.
Gerakas Beach is child friendly, sandy and shallow and not too busy. it was a short stroll away. We would recommend it.
All in all we had a great holiday. The villas had been recommended to us by friends who have been twice. We would come back and spent most of the week wondering why we had only booked a week! Enjoy!Mr & Mrs Homan - June 2010
Villa and staff: Marcia, Janelle, Nicky and Wendy all friendly and helpful. We loved the villa.
Turtle Club: Edward loved it, so many activities and games to play, very professional team! Keep up the great work girls! (night crèche – fantastic idea).
Beaches: we visited Gerakas Beach, great for kids as very shallow, but we found it hard stopping Edward from running everywhere he wanted to and the turtle conservation lady kept telling him not to run over possible nests! Banana Beach was our favorite, 10 minutes drive, 2 sun beds and an umbrella for only 6 euros with shower facilities and a new cafe, bar for refreshments and shade, very shallow again and sandy.
Small boat hire, Keri: a long 1 hour drive, all day hire cost 65 euros and fuel or you can just hire for 2/3/4 hours for less money. Plenty of stunning beaches to stop at and views are amazing. The resort of Keri was pretty.
Splash water park, Tsilivi: 45 minute-1 hour, only opened this year, 14 euros per adult 7 euros for children over 4 years. Well worth the money, you exchanged your entry ticket for one item of food and a can of drink. Edward loved it so much we went twice.
Well that’s our experience, hope some of it will be helpful? Have a fantastic holiday, we did...Mr & Mrs Glanville - June 2010
Nice, clean and comfortable accommodation. The kid’s club is first rate and the staff made a big difference to our holiday and Nathan (2½ years) in particular was kept busy.
Nearby beach is very nice. We tried numerous tavernas and all of them produced good food. Having our own pool on the front door made us a little lazy, but it does mean you can have lots of fun on your doorstep.
Lastly, we needed a doctor for little Annabel (8 months) – nothing too serious, but the doctor was excellent! Have a wonderful stay!Mr & Mrs Lee - June 2010
We have had a fantastic time on our second stay at Periyali. Our boy who is 4½ had a brilliant tine at the kids club and came back afer the last day’s fancy dress party with a folder full of creations. Our 20 month old was less keen...
We spent the majority of our days around the villa and big pool but ventured to Gerakas Beach in search of turtles. We also visited Kamania Beach which had a great kid’s play area, beach bar (with extremely friendly and helpful staff) and sea shallow enough for both the children to paddle and swim happily.
Our only other trip out was to the newly opened aqua park (in Tsilvi) designed mainly with younger kids in mind. As it is so new there is no parking yet but it does mean that all the facilities look and feel clean and new. Really good fun for toddlers and children up to about the age of 8, with lots of shallow waters, splash machines and slides. Note it is quite hard to find so make sure you get really good directions.
Brilliant time as before and all sad to be heading off...Mr Datta - June 2010
Lovely holiday! Wish we had come for two weeks instead of one! Kids club (even for our little one) was fantastic, the staff are lovely and he had great fun playing with all the toys, nice and cool in there for them too.
Places to recommend, Gerakas Beach (walking distance from the back of the villas, turn right up the dirt track and left when you get to the tavernas) lovely shallow water for the little ones.
Plaka Beach is good for kids and has grass area. Azzuro Beach really lovely (for adults too!). All in all we felt well cared for from day one, we’ll be back! Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.Miss Byrnes - June 2010
We have had the most fantastic holiday, thank you Simpson! Sandros at the bar is marvellous! The little cave is a hidden gem – go swimming there!
We have booked to come back next year as the combination of kids club and great villas in a beautiful location makes it the perfect holiday. See you in 2011!Miss Gray - May 2010
Wonderful location for families with small children. Emilia has had a wonderful time at the swimming pool and on the beach. Clean, comfortable accommodation with very friendly staff – without exception. We would recommend to other families.Mr Moore - May 2010
Your children are the most important people in the world. Childhood memories of happy family holidays are something that most of us cherish throughout our lives. Yet parenting can also be as relentless as it is rewarding, so we understand that you appreciate a little down-time too.
The Periyali Crèche and Children’s Club offers you a few, tranquil hours each day to recharge your batteries and truly unwind. Explore that secluded, buggy-unfriendly cove; enjoy a naughty glass or two of wine with lunch and snooze away the afternoon by your private pool; or simply revisit the almost-forgotten pleasure of reading an entire novel uninterrupted. Whatever you crave from your well-deserved time off, you can be assured that your children are enjoying themselves just as much as you are.
Our team of professionally qualified nannies will care for your tots to pre-teens in the safe, enclosed environment of our own Clubhouse on site at Periyali. Little ones from as young as 6 months will enjoy a range of fun, stimulating and age-appropriate activities, both indoors in the air-conditioned Clubhouse, and outside in the large, fully shaded play space. Older ones especially love the company of other children on holiday, and our team are experienced enough to ensure that even the most street-wise city kid won’t be complaining of boredom. And once the sun goes down you can treat yourselves to a romantic dinner à deux, thanks to our twice-weekly evening club session catering for children from 6 months to 10 years.

PASSPORTS AND VISAS
It is your responsibility to be in possession of a valid passport and any necessary visas. EU citizens do not need a visa to travel to Greece. If you are a non-EU citizen then you should check with your own embassy for the entry/re-entry requirements necessary for your journey. Children not on an accompanying parent’s passport before October 1998 are now required to hold their own passport if they are under 16 years. If you do not have a passport, it is recommended to apply at least 6 weeks before your holiday. Passports should be valid for 6 months after your return date.
Our prices are based on our lowest contracted fare. Occasionally it may be necessary to purchase flights outside of our normal allocation and in these circumstances we may need to charge an additional supplement to reflect the extra costs incurred. This will also be the case if we are booking flights from regional airports or on flights where we do not have a seat allocation. If a supplement applies, this will be advised to you at the time of booking.
Most charter airlines allow 20kg of luggage per person (excluding infants); however it is becoming more common for airlines to change their restrictions on luggage weight and the number of items. Before travelling, we recommend you check your flight tickets for details and check with the airline’s website if travelling on a non-charter flight.
IN-FLIGHT MEALS AND SPECIAL DIETS
If the airline you are travelling with offers in-flight meals, requests for special meals may be made up to 14 days prior to departure. Whilst we will always pass your request onto the airline, we are unable to guarantee supply. Charges may apply and we will confirm these to you at the time of booking.
GROUP SEATING AND EXTRA LEGROOM
Some airlines offer passengers the opportunity of pre-booking guaranteed seats together at a pre-paid supplement (seats may be situated either side of an aisle) and some offer seating with extra legroom for a reasonable supplement. Availability and supplements can be advised at the time of booking.
You will usually need a certificate of fitness to fly if you are more than 28 weeks pregnant. Most airlines will not allow you to fly if you are more than 32 weeks pregnant. Please refer to the airline’s website for details of their policy.
API (ADDITIONAL PASSENGER INFORMATION)
Most countries require that the airline take additional information from each passenger such as full name, date and place of birth, passport number, country of issue and expiry date. You will need to provide this information at the time of booking or, at the very latest, prior to release of your travel documents. You are able to complete the details online via Manage My Booking or call a member of our Pre-Departure team.
The name shown on a ticket must exactly match the name of the passenger travelling as it appears in his/her passport (first full name and surname). If not, you may be refused boarding. Once your flights have been booked, it is not usually possible to make name changes without incurring substantial charges. If there are any errors on your invoice or your flight tickets, please inform us immediately.
FOREIGN OFFICE ADVICE BEFORE YOU TRAVEL
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office provides up-to-date travel information to help British travellers make informed decisions about travelling abroad. Should you wish to check their advice or information about the destination you are travelling to, please visit their website: www.fco.gov.uk/en or call 020 7008 1500.
In the event of a flight delay, whenever possible we will ensure that the airline/operator communicates the reasons for and extent of any delay and implements appropriate standards of welfare provision. EU carriers should also comply with EU Regulation 261/2004 in the event of delays, cancellations or denied boarding and guidance is provided on the CAA’s website www.caa.co.uk
CAR HIRE INFORMATION
Most of our holidays include an air-conditioned hire car, to be collected from and returned to the airport (or port where applicable). The category of car included in the basic holiday price will vary according to the number of people in your party. We do not consider infants as part of the total party size. The cars we have included offer comfortable seating for the size of party travelling, however, we do ask you to take into account the size of the boot space for your luggage if any infants are in your party, and the number of child and baby seats required. You may wish to upgrade your car to give you extra comfort and space. Availability and supplements for upgrading will be advised at the time of booking. For transporting extra luggage it is also possible to pre-book a taxi.
The types of cars listed are only examples of car models in each category. We cannot guarantee that you will receive a specific make or model.

• Loss of or damage to car keys (and costs incurred due to this, for example towing and replacement keys, etc.)
• Windscreen, wing mirrors or undercarriage (you should not drive off-road)
• Interior of car is also not covered in Corfu and Paxos
• Personal Accident Insurance (this should be covered by your personal travel insurance)
• Any damage, loss, accident, theft, attempted theft, etc caused by your own negligence, for example, driving under the influence of alcohol, unlawful driving, driving off-road, using wrong type of fuel, unlocked doors, apparent personal effects, etc.
CAR HIRE DEPOSIT
The car hire agents will require you to lodge a credit card deposit when you collect your car. No money will be taken if you return the undamaged car at the correct time with the correct amount of fuel and not requiring cleaning.
Child and baby seats (forward facing seats only are available) can be provided if booked at least 2 weeks prior to your departure and are charged at £2 per day. Please remember to specify the age of the child. Local car hire and Simpson Travel staff are not authorised to install the child seats and as style and installation may differ to those in the UK, you may prefer to bring your own child seat for your own peace of mind.
Please refer to the information at the top of the page for details of the transfers included in the cost of your holiday. Taxis are licensed and insured to carry up to 4 passengers. Therefore, if there are 4 passengers and an infant then 2 taxis are needed and we will provide you with a separate quotation. If you are travelling with young children or babies, child seats are not provided for any vehicles used for transfers. For your own peace of mind, we recommend that you bring your own although there is no guarantee that local taxi companies will allow the use of child seats. Please note that the transfer times included in our accommodation details are approximate estimates only and do not include any waiting time.
Although we pre-arrange and book your ferry crossings in advance, poor weather or ferry cancellations may disrupt the schedules. In most cases, when you arrive at the port you will have to wait a certain amount of time for your onward boat transfer. If your flight experiences delays and you miss your pre-booked boat transfer, we will then book you onto the next available boat. If you miss the last ferry due to a flight delay or cancellation due to poor weather, it may be necessary for you to overnight at the port and then take the ferry the following morning.
ACCOMMODATION AND USEFUL INFORMATION
Air-conditioning and heating
We have indicated in the property descriptions which accommodation has air-conditioning included in the holiday price. Heating is available in some of our properties during the low season weeks, which is normally included in the holiday price.
Animals and wildlife
As in all rural communities, indigenous animals are an essential part of the way of life. The braying of a donkey, crow of a cockerel or the barking of a dog is not a complaint that receives much sympathy from the locals! Care should be taken to minimise the presence of insects and animals in your accommodation. Keep surfaces clean, dispose of refuse regularly and ensure that food is not left uncovered. Cats and dogs are often resident where an owner or manager lives on the property. If you are allergic to cats and/or dogs please ensure that you check the suitability of your chosen accommodation with us prior to confirming your booking.
We have specified if a barbecue is available at your accommodation. Please note that often in summer, due to the hot weather, use of your barbecue may not be allowed and/or strict rules for its use may apply. The local or national government reserves the right to introduce new rulings at any time, often with little prior notice, prohibiting the use of barbecues to reduce the risk of fires. Where a barbecue is not provided, it is usually because the surroundings are considered a fire risk or inappropriate for the use of barbecues.
We provide Simpson Travel beach/pool towels in all our self-catering properties and these are normally laundered weekly. We would be happy to advise you which of our hotels provide beach/pool towels and if a charge applies.
Please note that a double bed could be two single beds placed together. Double beds usually measure 140cm x 190cm and single beds 80/90cm x 190cm. If you are booking a hotel room, please let us know your room preference (double or twin). Although we will make every effort to convey your request to the hotel, we cannot guarantee your preference will be available.
Check-in and check-out
You will usually be able to occupy your villa or apartment after 4pm and you must vacate it on the day of departure by 10am. Most of our hotels follow common practice with regard to check-in and check-out times (around midday); however some have later check-in times between 3pm and 5pm.
Self-catering accommodation is cleaned a minimum of twice a week (including arrival day) and some accommodation may be cleaned more often. Cleaning usually consists of a sweep, mop, bathroom and kitchen tidy up.
Distances and timings
Please note that all walking and driving times stated are approximate estimates only. Transfer times are also approximate estimates only and do not include any waiting time.
Hotel bookings with half-board include dinner, which is usually a fixed menu with or without a choice of dishes. In some hotels, you may take your half-board meal at lunchtime.
Health and safety
Simpson Travel is committed to raising the standards of health and safety throughout all our destinations. Our guests’ safety and wellbeing is of the highest importance to us. However, please note that since many of our properties are private homes, it is not always possible to meet the same exacting standards as in the UK. In your accommodation we will provide any necessary health and safety information. We ask you to familiarise yourself with this information and the property on arrival, particularly when travelling with children, and to raise any concerns with your local representative.
Internet access and connection
If a property offers wifi or internet access, the type of connection may vary. Additionally, the signal could be intermittent at times and may not be available in all areas of the property. There may be a charge for internet use in some properties.
Linen and laundry
Bed and bathroom linen is provided and usually laundered twice weekly. For your convenience some of our properties have a washing machine.
Noise and building works
Traffic, farm work, roadwork, animals and other sounds form part of everyday life, however, what constitutes ‘noise’ to one person may not be a problem for another. Please let us know if you have any special needs regarding this. Occasionally, building work is unavoidable as we do not control such work and may not know about it in advance. Whenever possible, we will notify you of any work that we believe may affect your holiday.
Only guests named on your invoice are entitled to occupy the accommodation.
Throughout Greece, especially in the older houses, the plumbing system is not designed to have items flushed down the lavatory. Where necessary, bins are provided in all bathrooms.
We cannot guarantee that a full selection of satellite channels will be available. Channels in English may be very limited and these are often only CNN or BBC World.
Some facilities are subject to weather conditions and the general season, for example swimming pools, restaurant terraces, pool bars, local restaurants, and they may be limited or unavailable at the beginning or end of the season. Please do not hesitate to check with us, should a particular facility be a necessity to you.
Security and cleaning deposits
For self-catering properties, we require you to lodge a security deposit against any breakages, damage, losses, extra cleaning or outstanding accounts, which you may have incurred during your stay and/or due to your negligence. This should be provided by credit or debit card at the time of booking by providing authorisation for us to deduct (within 14 days of your return home) any advised charges from your card. Most of our properties are the owners’ personal homes and repairs, replacements and extra cleaning can be very expensive, so we do ask you to take care in order to avoid incurring extra costs.
Swimming pool details are given on our website. Pool dimensions are approximate only and, unless specified otherwise, pools are freshwater and unheated. In Paxos most pools are filled using ‘sweet water’, which is generally a mix of well water (with some salt content) and fresh water. Dates when pools are operational are subject to the prevailing weather conditions at the time of opening and closing and we cannot be held responsible if poor weather means the pool is opened later, or is closed earlier in the season.
Upon arrival at your accommodation, we kindly ask you to acquaint yourselves with the pool’s safety and hygiene rules. Very few pools have covers, fencing or life rings, so children must be supervised at all times. Some pools are ‘infinity pools,’ which have an exposed pool edge with an unprotected drop. This maximises views and is an attractive feature of the pool. We recommend that children are supervised and that you do not sit, lean or walk on the unprotected edge.
Whilst the owners or staff of some properties may live on site and tend to the grounds, they are aware that you value your privacy, and will do their best not to intrude. We do ask you, however, to allow them reasonable access to the property so that they can maintain the grounds and keep them in good order.
We offer a welcome pack in all our self-catering accommodation consisting of a small selection of staple items and local produce. This includes the following complimentary items: coffee, tea bags, milk, bottled water, fruit juice, bread, butter/margarine, crisps, white wine, local beers, tonic, pasta, pasta sauce, yoghurt, honey, regional biscuits, washing powder, washing-up liquid, dishwasher tablets, washing-up sponge, salt and pepper, sugar, olive oil, mixed herbs and toilet paper.
