Purple Apricot Hotel Greece, Paxos

Paxos is exquisite, a superlative spot to simply rest, relax and recharge batteries depleted by day to day life. Yet despite its obvious natural attractions and enviable selection of private villas, this island has precious few hotels.

As the name suggests, Purple Apricot presents a rather irreverent take on the standard hotel style, refreshingly unconventional and aimed at those who value individuality and personal service. Each suite is an eclectic one-off; bohemian, flamboyant and a touch exotic, all individually styled by designer Jaxx Russell Flint, who lives on the island for part of the year and understands perfectly Paxos' laid-back appeal.

The emphasis is on rich colours and textures both inside and out, a vibrant tapestry to fire all the senses. At the heart of the hotel is the swimming pool with delightful sea views and a comfortable relaxation area festooned with bright floor cushions and adorned with Eastern-inspired tables, lanterns and candles as day melts into dusk. Breakfast is served under a silvery canopy of trees and the gardens are subtly landscaped to create private spaces for rest and contemplation. Yet however relaxed the atmosphere, the Simpson standards are maintained, thanks to our own concierge who personally oversees the running of the hotel.

By combining exciting new design with our traditional hallmarks of warmth, friendliness and unobtrusive professionalism, Purple Apricot has proved a very successful addition to our Simpson Hotel portfolio: our own collection of hotels with soul and a passion for personal service, regardless of star rating. In order to preserve an atmosphere of calm for all, we have designated it an adult only hotel, aimed at couples, groups and anyone who relishes a calmer, grown-up environment.

  • Our holiday with Simpsons to Paxos was fantastic from start to finish, the Purple Apricot Hotel is amazing. As the impressive gates close behind you, you are in an "Apricot Bubble", and your stress just floats off over the hills never to return. Marco and Sophie were quite simply excellent, nothing is too much trouble in fact they delight in being able to assist. I would not hesitate to return here or recommend this wonderful holiday. Mrs Davies - July 2016

Apart from the high standard of the accommodation and tranquil ambiance of the setting, we must mention our hosts, Sophie and Marco, who were superb and could not do enough for us. We would like to say a big thank you, both to them and also to the two local ladies who help them. Thank you for a wonderful holiday. Mrs O'Connor - July 2016

  • Our first time travelling with Simpson and not disappointed. The Purple Apricot is an Oasis of Tranquillity and our hosts Sophie and Marco were perfect. • We havd a lovely holiday at the purple apricot hotel, our host Marco was excellent - so friendly, couldn't do enough for us and everyone else during our weeks stay. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds where we had our sumptuous breakfast over looking the pool to the sea beyond. We were so sad to leave this stunning property and fabulous Paxos for our British weather!!!!!!. Mr Cooke - September 2015
  • As seasoned travellers (and fairly critical ones at that) we experienced very high standards throughout our first holiday with Simpson Travel. Mrs Jones - August 2015
  • This was a honeymoon for us and couldn't have chosen anything more perfect. The location and the hotel were beyond expectation, and we would love to explore more of your properties. The staff at Purple Apricot made us feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble. We were looked after from the moment we landed until the day we left. Ms Dale - August 2015
  • Writing this the first day home from our stay at the Purple Apricot. This hotel will not disappoint. There is a feeling of calm and tranquility as soon as you open those wooden doors and step inside. Our room 'Purple Rain' had great views and if you can tear yourself away there is the beautiful island of Paxos to explore. Marco and Sophie are exceptional and enthusiastic hosts - Their attention to detail, knowledge of Paxos and recommendations made sure that we got the most out of our holiday and it was a sheer delight to get up every morning and be greeted by one of Marco's beautifully cooked to order breakfasts. Mr Williams - August 2015
  • The Purple Apricot hotel offers a holiday that is very relaxing on the small but delightful island of Paxos. The great advantage of this place is its location (walking distance to good tavernas and short journeys to beautiful harbours), the peacefulness and the ever helpful hosts. The quality of the accommodation was very good and a well kept pool area made it hard to leave the place! For those looking for rest, peace, beauty and easy access to tavernas, we would recommend the Purple Apricot hotel. Mrs Casswell - August 2015
  • This was our first holiday with Simpson Travel and it was wonderful. Our time on Paxos at the Purple Apricot hotel was superb and Sophie & Marco who ran it were charming, knowledgeable and perfect hosts. We plan to return! Mrs Cooke - July 2015

  • We had a very relaxing two weeks at the Purple Apricot Hotel. Sophie and Marco were amazing hosts . As first timers to Paxos they helped us with restaurant recommendations, places to visit and walks to attempt. When we left we felt we were leaving their own home! No wonder so many guests return each year. Mr Bogle - July 2015
  • The Purple Apricot is every bit as wonderful as it appears on the website. The pool and breakfast areas are beautiful by day and night, As for the rooms, if you like the look of one from the photos, go for, it is just like it in reality. Having said that, I don't think you could go wrong with any of the rooms. It is lovely to be in such a small, intimate hotel, where your hosts, Sophie and Marco, genuinely want your stay to be as enjoyable as possible. They are lovely people, who are both friendly and knowledgeable. In short, they are the perfect hosts. Miss Ollerearnshaw - July 2015
  • The Purple Apricot was relaxing from the moment we stepped through the door. Our room was extremely comfortable. The staff were really helpful and the breakfasts were delicious. Mrs Smith - July 2015
  • Everyone should enjoy a Simpson Exclusive holiday. What an experience, never thought a holiday could be so perfect. Purple Apricot and White Orchid are just two of the most perfect holiday destinations. The staff sought to please and they sure did that, total dedication in all aspects. Overwhelmed by the Simpson Exclusive loyalty among other guests, so many were in competition wanting to reserve their favorite suite for the following year. Mr Scott - June 2015
  • I have just returned from a wonderful week at the Purple Apricot Hotel in Paxos with my husband. We were both thoroughly spoilt by Sophie and Marco who were always charming and helpful. Can't wait to return next year. Mrs Clifford - June 2015
  • If you are looking for the perfect romantic place to stay, pick The Purple Apricot and you would not be disappointed, pure tranquillity is the best way I can describe, sitting on a swing in the garden for two under a night sky full of stars and if you are lucky enough you may just see that shooting star right under the moon. • Our first Simpson experience and it proved to be as magical as the fireflies we saw dancing in the olive groves on our first night in Paxos. Mr Howat - May 2015
  • Excellent service from start to finish from accommodating changes to travel dates and extras at booking, through to local reps (Bev in Corfu) with professional, friendly, fast and efficient service and the resort concierge (Marco, Sophie and team at Purple Apricot in Paxos) all went above and beyond in the typical Simpson way to make it a brilliant holiday. Mr Bingham - May 2015

  • This was our second stay at Purple Apricot and we booked for this year about 3 days into last year's stay, so much had we fallen in love with both the hotel and the island. If all the reviews don't make mention of Sophie and Marco, the concierges, I'd be very surprised. They are VERY good and make what is a great hotel extra special. We'll be back! Mr Gough - September 2014
  • Great property in a good location for nearby village and archaeology Mr Firman - September 2014
  • We would highly recommend both the Purple Apricot Hotel on Paxos and the White Orchid Hotel at Sivota. Unbeatable for friendly, efficient service and we liked meeting other like-minded guests. We like small, comfortable hotels and Simpson has the right formula for us. Mrs Maitland - September 2014
  • A sublime room in a perfectly peaceful spot. We have walked, swam. eaten, drunk and enjoyed every minute. Greatest thanks to Sophie and Marco, the perfect hosts. J Fox - September 2014
  • What an incredible week! Paxos has been above all our expectations. We have loved every aspect of the island, the wild nature, the serene beaches, we would recommend hiring a boat and exploring Paxos and Anti Paxos. There are so many so many beautiful isolated coves you can't reach by car. K Zon - September 2014
  • We used simpson travel to book our Honeymoon with them! We had an amazing time. This company is professional, with a great team of staff who go out of there way to make it special. Both in the UK & out. The destination was stunning and the accommodation was beautifully selected in very picturesque settings. They made transfers by land and sea enjoyable, creating the holiday experience the minute you land.. More importantly no extra paperwork when you land all done in advance! Nice touch! We will definitely use Simpsons again. Mr De Silvo - August 2014
  • This holiday is absolutely perfect. The room is of a really high standard. The breakfasts are amazing. Sophie and Marco are fabulous hosts. Do pick their brains, they suggested some lovely tavernas and areas to explore. Mr and Mrs De Slivo - August 2014
  • Sophie and Marco and their team made our stay at Purple Apricot a wonderful experience. Nothing was too much trouble. Everything met with our expectations. We came here to relax and Paxos is an excellent place to do just that. M Short - August 2014
  • This has been the perfect place for us to enjoy our holiday this year. With a wonderful island to explore The Purple Apricot is the most idylic base. Sophie and Marco are the loveliest of hosts - nothing is too much trouble and they bring fun and laughter to every day. You relax from the moment you step inside the gates. James and Sarah - August 2014
  • Thanks to Sophie and Marco and all the team for making our stay at The Purple Apricot memorable. Paxos is a beautiful island and full of friendly people. Mr and Mrs Longman - August 2014
  • Not really sure where to start to describe our amazing holiday. Came to Paxos with little idea of it as a island. When we arrived at the Purple Apricot we were absolutely blown away by the hotel. Our expectations were high having travelled with Simpsons before, but they were totally surpassed by what we found. Our enjoyment of the hotel was enhanced by Sophie and Marco who were exemplary hosts. With their assistance we saw and experienced things on the island which now hold a very special place in our hearts. Once again, many thanks to the whole Simpson team for making our holiday so memorable. Mrs Wheeler - August 2014
  • A most wonderful holiday in an idyllic location. The accommodation, the surroundings and above all the hospitality of our hosts Sophie and Marco could not have been better. Richard and Jo - August 2014
  • We had a wonderful time on Paxos and at the Purple Apricot. Sophie and Marco were fantastic hosts, warm and welcoming. The breakfasts were brilliant. For such a small island there is plenty to do we will certainly go back. Charlotte and Tom - August 2014
  • We enjoyed a wonderful week of perfect sunshine. The friendly staff and beautiful setting of the Purple Apricot made our week very memorable. Mr and Mrs Pattison - July 2014
  • We stayed at the 'Purple Apricot' on Paxos, July 2014. Having visited Paxos many times over the years, this property was outstanding in every way. In addition, Sophie and Marco have added a very special experience to our holiday and we cannot thank them enough. Absolutely the best place we have stayed on Paxos. Mr Robinson - July 2014
  • We had a fantastic two weeks at the Purple Apricot . The place itself is beautiful and made all the more special by Sophie and Marco who are the perfect hosts, providing all the information and assistance required to make the holiday extra special . Paxos itself is also very beautiful and extremely laid back. All in all a fabulous holiday. Mr Hay - June 2014
  • A friendly discreet and efficient service from start to finish. Good quality accommodation in a nice area. Usually don't recommend holidays to others as they are so personal. But would have no hesitation in recommending Simpsons. Alan & Tracy B Mr Burgess - June 2014
  • We have recently returned from a truly wonderful and relaxing holiday at Purple Apricot and can only reiterate that contained in other reviews - Sophie and Marco are excellent hosts, supported by a first-class team, so enthusiastic and nothing is too much trouble for them. The hotel exceeded could not be faulted, so relaxing, quiet and of first class quality. We have already booked to return next year, although a little later in the year when temperatures are likely to suit us better. Mrs Skipp - June 2014
  • Idyllic, beautiful, stylish, peaceful, tranquil! These are all words I would use to describe the Purple Apricot in Paxos. We have just returned from a week staying in Purple Rain and are kicking ourselves that we didn't book for two weeks. So much so that we have already reserved two weeks for next year! This has been one of the best holidays we have ever had, we've enjoyed everything about it and can't wait to return next year. Marco and Sophie who run the hotel are an absolute delight, nothing is too much trouble and they make you feel like old friends rather than just another guest. A beautiful hotel on a magical island, which you will want to return to even before your holiday is over! Mrs Martin - June 2014
  • We cannot believe how quickly the week sped - we didn't want to go home! The Purple Apricot certainly lived up to expectations and we had a fabulous time. Marco and Sophie make a special difference with their charm and eagerness to please – breakfasts are superb. This was our third visit to Paxos and will not be our last. Mr and Mrs Vizor - June 2014
  • We have had the most perfect honeymoon! Everything has been faultless! From the charming Sophie and Marco….to the beautiful island. Crystal clear water (excellent snorkeling)…great food (breakfast a fine start to the day) to all the little details; cool bags, beach towels , water in fridge etc. Well done and thank you to all concerned. - June 2014
  • Really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel. Lovely breakfast and room. What made our week even better was the personalities, professionalism and friendliness of Sophie and Marco. We enjoyed getting out and about to lots of beaches and hiring a boat and a sailing along the coast and to anti-Paxos. Mr and Mrs Megson - June 2014
  • Our time on Paxos was just perfection! Paxos has all the amazing ingredients that Greece has to offer rolled up into one incredible package!! Mrs Zeffert - June 2014
  • It was our first time with Simpson Travel and they proved to be very good with courteous efficient service. The Purple Apricot is a lovely hotel on a beautiful little island. Sophie and Marco are the perfect hosts, friendly, efficient, warm and charming. If you want to just relax this is the place to go and Simpson Travel is the company to go with. Mrs Jackson - May 2014
  • We stayed at the Purple Apricot towards the end of September when the weather was warm but not scorching. The hotel was individual in design and beautifully presented. All the staff were excellent, but special mention must be made of Marco and Sophie, who were friendly, well informed and helpful, without the pushiness you sometimes find with other travel companies. This was our third holiday with Simpson and they have been our best. High Skies - Mr Gough - September 2013
  • Our stay at the Purple Apricot was one of the best holidays we have ever had. The facilities were superb, but what was really outstanding was the welcome and attention we received from Sophie and Marcos. In years of travelling we have never come across such exceptional hosts. Medina - Mr Waterhouse - September 2013
  • Fantastic week in Paxos! Weather fantastic and a great time of year to have a holiday. The most gorgeous beaches for us were Anti Paxos- just a boat ride away from Gaios. A very convenient beach to visit also is Mongonessi with lovely little sandy beach, taverna and sunbeds. We could not fault anything at The Purple Apricot Hotel and last but certainly not least are the amazing hosts Sophie and Marco. They are very helpful in every way and have a very good sense of humour; they compliment this little gem of a hotel very much. Sandbach - September 2013
  • We have had a lovely relaxing holiday here for the last two weeks. The accommodation was very comfortable and the breakfasts excellent. We loved getting to know this lovely island. Must also add how lovely Sophie, Marco and all of the staff at the hotel are. They really help to add a lovely, low-key but very professional atmosphere to the hotel. Everything Simpson Travel epitomises! Mrs Attwood - September 2013
  • The best thing about this holiday is that Simpsons delivered all they promised and more! Without a doubt, Sophie and Marco were key to making the fabulous hotel and its location its atmosphere and efficiency which gave us a real sense of Paxos and its beauty. We have been to Paxos before but this place surpassed our already high expectations. Having three great restaurants within walking distance makes the Purple Apricot a marvellous location. Overall, a wonderful stay- we would come again. Mr Playfoot - September 2013
  • First time Simpson travellers, we are usually independent and do our own thing. Simpsons efficiency, honesty and value means we shall use them again; this really was a stress free holiday. Purple Rain - Mrs Thompson - August 2013
  • We had a great stay at the Purple Apricot. It is a beautiful small hotel, expertly looked after by Sophie and Marco who really know the island of Paxos. We would thoroughly recommend it. Safari - Mr Ballantyne - August 2013
  • Purple Apricot is set in an idyllic location, you can explore the island easy from there or while away the days by the pool, the bedrooms were beautiful decorated and our every need was taken care of by the excellent Marco and Sophie with interesting tips of places to visit and a superb breakfast every morning, they went far beyond what was expected of them. Distant Plains - Mr Rose - August 2013
  • Purple Apricot Hotel is everything the discerning traveller wants and expects when on holiday. Luxurious & elegant without pretentions. Paxos is a most beautiful island, unspoilt and utterly delightful. Purple Rain - Mrs Owen - July 2013
  • We have had such a fantastic week. The Purple Apricot was a real sanctuary and the perfect place to unwind. Sophie and Marco have been simply brilliant - they have thought of everything and have been so natural and friendly. We have loved discovering Paxos - it is incredibly beautiful and we have been met with kindness and charm wherever we have gone. We will definitely be back! Thank you for an amazing time. Distant Plains - Mr Smith - July 2013
  • Such a fantastic holiday! Where we normally take most of the week to wind down, here we were lazy and content by the end of the first day, glass of prosecco in hand! The venue is beautiful, quiet and relaxing - Paxos simply beautiful. But the hospitality of Sophie and Marco has been the icing on the cake - pre-empting everything we might need, ensuring everything is seamless. In such a small venue it is such a lovely personal service, but not in your face. You are in very capable hands! Distant Plains - Miss Webb - July 2013
  • The Purple Apricot was exactly what we were looking for - a hotel, but not a hotel - all our needs catered for but with none of the pretensions. A wonderful island, a beautiful setting and fun and attentive hosts. A very relaxing and chilled time - thank you. Purple Rain - Mr Pritchard - July 2013
  • Sophie and Marco are the ultimate hosts! Caring, interested and professional. The whole experience of staying there was easy and fun. Safari - Mrs Gibbons - July 2013
  • This was a holiday full of firsts. A first trip to Greece and what an introduction Paxos proved to be- it just oozes with laid-back charm. Never having experienced a 'package' holiday, it's congratulations to Simpson Travel for opening our eyes to what can be. Purple Apricot Hotel - we chose it for its quirky and intriguing descriptions, particularly the Medina. It has more than exceeded our expectations. But most of all - Sophie, Marco and the team: you are the icing on the cake. Everything you do is sprinkled with gold dust. We couldn't have asked for more, especially your omelettes Marco and your muffins, Sophie! Thank you so much for a wonderful week. Medina - Mr Caunt - July 2013
  • A wonderful week in Paxos at The Purple Apricot. Cannot recommend it enough. Marco and Sophie were absolutely lovely. They looked after us brilliantly. A big thank you to them and Simpson Travel for a lovely week. Definitely plan to go back! Pure Victoria - Mrs Chant - July 2013
  • Very impressed. See you next year already booked. High Skies - Mr Allen - June 2013
  • Truly, we have nothing but good to say about the hotel and island. The inhabitants told us that we were experiencing bad weather because there was a continual breeze. To us it was wonderful! We have been out all day every day under almost cloudless skies exploring the island or swimming and sunbathing. You will discover for yourselves your favourite beaches, villages, and tavernas. Sophie and Marco, through their personalities and professionalism, have made our stay at the Purple Apricot a unique and charming experience. Mrs Stidolph - June 2013
  • We love Paxos and we love Simpson Travel holidays. A wonderful stay, Sophie and Marco are great hosts - always smiling, interested and keeping us well fed with the breakfasts. Loved the pool - a haven. Another fab week. Ms Donoghue - June 2013
  • We have had a wonderful week here in the Purple Apricot Hotel. A hugely relaxing and quiet setting. This was all the more enhanced by the hospitality shown by Sophie and Marco who made our stay perfect. They are a credit to the Simpson Travel team and have made our next destination something to live up to. We will miss Marco's breakfast and the mid morning choc ice especially. Mr Dooley - June 2013
  • What a wonderful tranquil place to stay - the Purple Apricot was everything you could wish for. Sophie & Marco were fabulous hosts, nothing was too much trouble and the breakfasts were amazing - Marco's pancakes especially. The individual touches added to the peaceful ambiance and relaxing atmosphere. Paxos is a gem and, with the help of Sophie's knowledge, we were able to explore and enjoy this charming island. We loved it so much that we have booked for next year already. Safari - Mr Hyde - June 2013
  • A fantastic week, the best breakfasts and some very hot weather. We have met some great people and enjoyed our week so much that it seems we only arrived yesterday. A boat trip to Anti Paxos in a speedboat was the highlight. Sophie and Marco couldn't have been more helpful. Mr Newman - June 2013
  • Wow! What a fabulous week we've had. It's a privilege to have been the first guests to stay in Distant Plains. We love the decor and furnishings. Sophie and Marco have been the most charming hosts and have made our stay really special. The breakfast is exceptional! The whole island is beautiful and has a real magical charm. Only regret is not booking for 2 weeks. Roll on next year. Mrs Solari - June 2013
  • We have had a perfect week. The Purple Apricot is a real find and we loved Purple Rain. We have visited Paxos before, last year in fact, and we fell in love with the island. Marco and Sophie are the perfect hosts, nothing is too much trouble and there is always a radiant smile. The breakfasts are wonderful and such a bonus. A real bonus for us has been to join up with another two couples staying here and enjoy many, many laughs. We are great Simpson Travel fans and and we feel that the team in Paxos, along with Sophie and Marcos set a very high standard. Mr Wilkins - June 2013
  • What a fantastic holiday in a wonderful hotel made all the better by Sophie and Marco who have made this hotel their own! I don't think we have ever met such an enthusiastic and genuinely lovely management team in any hotel. For beaches, ask Sophie, she has all the inside knowledge. Miss Jones - June 2013
  • This was our third consecutive year booking with Simpson Travel. When we booked in March, with only artist's impressions of the hotel available online, some thought we were gambling a bit. (I knew we weren't!) Aptly named The Purple Apricot (P. dasycarpa - a small tree bearing almond-scented, pink flowers or sweet scented, double, dark rose-pink blossoms), this hotel is small but indeed very beautiful. If only I could keep it a secret to secure a room again in future, as I'm sure it will get fully booked years in advance. The hotel is a metaphor for the whole (tiny) island. Excellent food everywhere, heartwarming friendliness from the Greeks, gorgeous sea views, quiet, ancient olive groves, and breathtakingly beautiful, unspoilt beaches. We bring home beautiful memories and images; little momentos and stories, but the best of all is the precious chance to have met and befriended hotel hosts Marco and Sophie. Saying goodbye to them felt as though we were leaving family. We have been deeply warmed by more than just the sun. Thank you so much. Mrs Coulthard - June 2013
  • What a place - what a team - what a holiday! The property exudes charm and tranquility, and when you open the oak gates peace descends. The rooms are beautifully decorated, a little quirky but interesting and comfortable. The team, Sophie and Marco, cannot do enough for you. They are a credit to Simpson Travel and have stamped their personality on the place. We could find no bad tavernas. What a holiday! We will be back. Mr Sandercombe - June 2013
  • Wonderful locations, great service. Pure Victoria - Mr Bevan - June 2013
  • The Purple Apricot was everything we hoped and expected it would be. Having booked in January 2013, with only the artist’s sketches to go off, we were delighted to be amongst the first guests at a wonderful and truly unique hotel. The Purple Apricot fits perfectly with Paxos as an island—and in Sophie and Marco has the perfect hosts to complete the recipe for an ideal holiday in a wonderful location. Marco’s breakfasts and especially his poached eggs are fantastic. Having visited Paxos before, we were not disappointed by the restaurants on the island. We would recommend Erimitis for a meal over sunset. We will be back, both to Paxos and the Purple Apricot. Thank You Ms Carroll - June 2013
  • We love Purple Apricot and Sophie and Marco, for whom nothing is too much trouble. We've had one of our best holidays here. This is our third visit to Paxos, and staying here has made us love it even more. The Purple Apricot is such a haven to return to after a day at the beach - or a great evening out. We will be back next year. Wishing you a joyful time. Mrs Walker - June 2013
  • Greetings from Zimbabwe. I just wanted to let you know that my stay at the Purple Apricot on Paxos was fabulous. Marco and Sophie could not have been more helpful and charming. It was a fantastic holiday, thank you. Mrs Mavros - June 2013
  • To Sophie and Marco, Many thanks for helping to make our stay at Purple Apricot so relaxing and wonderful. It is greatly appreciated and we hope to be back soon. All the very best for the remainder of the season. Thanks again, Mr Gallagher - June 2013

YOUR SECURITY AND PEACE OF MIND
Full protection is guaranteed when you book a package with us. Our holidays are protected by the Civil Aviation Authority under the Air Tour Organisers Licence (ATOL Licence 5858) and by the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA Membership W5698).

ACCOMMODATION ONLY
For most of our self-catering accommodation we are able to offer accommodation only prices (excluding flights, car hire and transfers). Restrictions may apply at certain times of the year.

CHILD CONCESSIONS
Children aged 2-11 years are eligible for concessions of between 5%-25% of the holiday price. This is offered at most of our self-catering properties depending on departure dates. High season dates are excluded. Two full paying adults must be travelling in order for child discounts to apply. For further information please call our sales consultants.

INFANTS
There is a charge of £75 per infant (under 2 years) on all our holidays. Travel cots and highchairs are provided free of charge in our self-catering properties, however, some hotels may charge for these items and we will advise you of any extra costs at the time of booking. Many hotels offer reduced rates for children if they share the same room as their parents.

PLACING AN OPTION
In order to allow you to co-ordinate your holiday arrangements with friends and family, in many cases we are able to hold an option for up to 24 hours before confirming your booking.

PAYING FOR YOUR HOLIDAY
In order to confirm your booking a deposit of £225 per person is required unless you are booking accommodation only in which case 30% of the total holiday cost is required. However, if we need to buy in flight seats especially for your booking, we will ask you to pay a higher deposit to include the cost of the flights. This payment is non-refundable. The balance payment for your holiday should be paid at least 10 weeks prior to your departure. We accept most debit cards and credit cards, and personal cheques. All payments made by credit card will be subject to a 1.25% charge* reflecting our incurred costs. (*American Express is subject to a 2% charge.) Multi-centre holidays incur a £15-100 per person administration fee.

Please familiarise yourself with our full booking terms including our cancellation policy here.

TRAVEL INSURANCE
It is compulsory that all our guests have comprehensive travel insurance and we will need full details of your policy at the time of booking or before you travel.

FINAL DOCUMENTATION
Your travel documents are available to download and print 2 weeks prior to departure provided you have paid in full, completed and submitted Advanced Passenger Information and car hire details (if applicable). Please note if you are travelling with Ryan Air you will only be able to download your boarding passes approximately 7 days before departure due to the airline's check-in requirements. Should you prefer to receive your documents by post, please ask us at the time of booking.

PASSPORTS AND VISAS
It is your responsibility to be in possession of a valid passport and any necessary visas. EU citizens do not need a visa to travel to Greece. If you are a non-EU citizen then you should check with your own embassy for the entry/re-entry requirements necessary for your journey. Children not on an accompanying parent’s passport before October 1998 are now required to hold their own passport if they are under 16 years. If you do not have a passport, it is recommended to apply at least 6 weeks before your holiday. Passports should be valid for 6 months after your return date.

FLIGHT INFORMATION
Our prices are based on our lowest contracted fare. Occasionally it may be necessary to purchase flights outside of our normal allocation and in these circumstances we may need to charge an additional supplement to reflect the extra costs incurred. This will also be the case if we are booking flights from regional airports or on flights where we do not have a seat allocation. If a supplement applies, this will be advised to you at the time of booking.

LUGGAGE ALLOWANCE
If you are flying on our British Airways charter service from London to Corfu you are permitted to carry one piece of checked luggage per person up to 23kg. One piece of hand baggage is permitted up to 10kg (maximum dimensions 56cm x 45cm x 25cm).

Infants are permitted a 10kg checked bag allowance plus a fully collapsible pushchair, a car seat and one piece of hand luggage for items required in the flight (subject to security restrictions).

Any excess baggage will be charged at the airport. As this is a BA charter service, BA miles cannot be accrued or earned on this flight, nor can BA Executive Club members access the airport lounge.

If you are flying with Easyjet you are permitted to carry one piece of checked luggage per person (excluding infants) up to 20kg. One piece of hand baggage is permitted measuring a maximum 56 x 45 x 25cm (including wheels, pockets and handles) which you must be able to place and retrieve safely in the overhead lockers without assistance.

If you are flying with any other airline, please check the airline’s website for details.

It is common for airlines to change their restrictions on luggage weight and the number of items so, before travelling, we recommend you check the airline’s website for the latest information.

IN-FLIGHT MEALS AND SPECIAL DIETS
British Airways offer an in-flight snack on our service from London to Corfu. Special meal requests may be made up to 14 days prior to departure. Whilst we will always pass your request onto the airline, we are unable to guarantee supply. Charges may apply and we will confirm these to you at the time of booking. Easyjet offers a pay on board snack service.

GROUP SEATING AND EXTRA LEGROOM
Some airlines offer passengers the opportunity of pre-booking guaranteed seats together at a pre-paid supplement (seats may be situated either side of an aisle) and some offer seating with extra legroom for a reasonable supplement. Availability and supplements can be advised at the time of booking.

PREGNANCY
You will usually need a certificate of fitness to fly if you are more than 28 weeks pregnant. Most airlines will not allow you to fly if you are more than 32 weeks pregnant. Please refer to the airline’s website for details of their policy.

API (ADVANCE PASSENGER INFORMATION)
Most countries require that the airline take additional information from each passenger such as full name, date and place of birth, passport number, country of issue and expiry date. You will need to provide this information at the time of booking or, at the very latest, prior to release of your travel documents. You are able to complete the details online via Manage My Booking or call a member of our Pre-Departure team.

NAME CHANGES
The name shown on the itinerary must exactly match the name of the passenger travelling as it appears in his/her passport (first full name and surname). If not, you may be refused boarding. Once your flights have been booked, it is not usually possible to make name changes without incurring substantial charges. If there are any errors on your invoice or itinerary, please inform us immediately.

FOREIGN OFFICE ADVICE BEFORE YOU TRAVEL
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office provides up-to-date travel information to help British travellers make informed decisions about travelling abroad. Should you wish to check their advice or information about the destination you are travelling to, please visit their website: www.fco.gov.uk/en or call 020 7008 1500.

FLIGHT DELAYS
In the event of a flight delay, whenever possible we will ensure that the airline/operator communicates the reasons for and extent of any delay and implements appropriate standards of welfare provision. EU carriers should also comply with EU Regulation 261/2004 in the event of delays, cancellations or denied boarding and guidance is provided on the CAA’s website www.caa.co.uk

CAR HIRE INFORMATION
Most of our holidays include an air-conditioned hire car, to be collected from and returned to the airport (or port where applicable). The category of car included in the basic holiday price will vary according to the number of people in your party. We do not consider infants as part of the total party size. The cars we have included offer comfortable seating for the size of party travelling, however, we do ask you to take into account the size of the boot space for your luggage if any infants are in your party, and the number of child and baby seats required. You may wish to upgrade your car to give you extra comfort and space. Availability and supplements for upgrading will be advised at the time of booking. For transporting extra luggage it is also possible to pre-book a taxi at additional cost.

The types of cars listed are only examples of car models in each category. We cannot guarantee that you will receive a specific make or model.  All cars in Greece are 5 door.

INCLUDED IN YOUR CAR HIRE

  • Unlimited mileage
  • Local taxes and compulsory insurance
  • Two main drivers. Please note that there is a minimum age for drivers (minimum ages vary from 21 to 25 and can be advised at the time of booking) although there is no maximum age limit. Drivers must hold a British/EU Driver’s Licence or International Driver’s Licence, held for at least 2 years. You will not be able to hire a car without your original, valid Driver’s Licence which you must carry at all times when you are driving. Please also take the counterpart of your licence if you hold a photo licence.

CAR INSURANCE
Please note that in most cases you will need to pay an ‘excess’ in the event of theft or damage to your hire car, regardless of blame. As amounts and conditions vary throughout Greece, please ensure you ask for full details at collection, before you sign your car hire contract. The excess charge ranges from €300 to €1,000 dependent on your destination. Where an ‘excess’ applies, it may be possible to purchase extra insurance locally, which reduces or cancels the ‘excess.’

The insurance with or without the excess will not cover:

  • Tyres, including puncture repairs
  • Loss of or damage to car keys (and costs incurred due to this, for example towing and replacement keys, etc.)
  • Windscreen, wing mirrors or undercarriage (you should not drive off-road)
  • Interior of car is also not covered in Corfu and Paxos
  • Personal Accident Insurance (this should be covered by your personal travel insurance)
  • Any damage, loss, accident, theft, attempted theft, etc. caused by your own negligence, for example, driving under the influence of alcohol, unlawful driving, driving off-road, using wrong type of fuel, unlocked doors, apparent personal effects, etc.

CAR HIRE DEPOSIT
The car hire agents will require you to lodge a credit card deposit when you collect your car. No money will be taken if you return the undamaged car at the correct time with the correct amount of fuel and not requiring cleaning.

CHILD SEATS
Child and baby seats (forward facing seats only are available) can be provided if booked at least 2 weeks prior to your departure and are charged at £2 per day. Please remember to specify the age of the child. Local car hire and Simpson Travel staff are not authorised to install the child seats and as style and installation may differ to those in the UK, you may prefer to bring your own child seat for your own peace of mind.

TRANSFER INFORMATION
Please refer to the information at the top of the page for details of the transfers included in the cost of your holiday. Taxis are licensed and insured to carry up to 4 passengers. Therefore, if there are 4 passengers and an infant then 2 taxis are needed and we will provide you with a separate quotation. If you are travelling with young children or babies, child seats are not provided for any vehicles used for transfers. For your own peace of mind, we recommend that you bring your own although there is no guarantee that local taxi companies will allow the use of child seats. Please note that the transfer times included in our accommodation details are approximate estimates only and do not include any waiting time.

Although we pre-arrange and book your ferry crossings in advance, poor weather or ferry cancellations may disrupt the schedules. In most cases, when you arrive at the port you will have to wait a certain amount of time for your onward boat transfer. If your flight experiences delays and you miss your pre-booked boat transfer, we will then book you onto the next available boat. If you miss the last ferry due to a flight delay or cancellation due to poor weather, it may be necessary for you to overnight at the port and then take the ferry the following morning.

ACCOMMODATION AND USEFUL INFORMATION

Air-conditioning and heating
We have indicated in the property descriptions which accommodation has air-conditioning included in the holiday price. Heating is available in some of our properties during the low season weeks, which is normally included in the holiday price.

Animals and wildlife
As in all rural communities, indigenous animals are an essential part of the way of life. The braying of a donkey, crow of a cockerel or the barking of a dog is not a complaint that receives much sympathy from the locals! Care should be taken to minimise the presence of insects and animals in your accommodation. Keep surfaces clean, dispose of refuse regularly and ensure that food is not left uncovered. Cats and dogs are often resident where an owner or manager lives on the property. If you are allergic to cats and/or dogs please ensure that you check the suitability of your chosen accommodation with us prior to confirming your booking.

Barbecues
We have specified if a barbecue is available at your accommodation. Please note that often in summer, due to the hot weather, use of your barbecue may not be allowed and/or strict rules for its use may apply. The local or national government reserves the right to introduce new rulings at any time, often with little prior notice, prohibiting the use of barbecues to reduce the risk of fires. Where a barbecue is not provided, it is usually because the surroundings are considered a fire risk or inappropriate for the use of barbecues.

Beach/pool towels
We provide Simpson Travel beach/pool towels in all our self-catering properties and Simpson Hotels, and these are normally laundered weekly.

Beds
Please note that a double bed could be two single beds placed together. Double beds usually measure 140cm x 190cm and single beds 80/90cm x 190cm. If you are booking a hotel room, please let us know your room preference (double or twin). Although we will make every effort to convey your request to the hotel, we cannot guarantee your preference will be available.

Check-in and check-out
You will usually be able to occupy your villa, apartment or hotel after 4pm and you must vacate it on the day of departure by 10am and 9:30am in western Crete.

Cleaning
Self-catering accommodation is cleaned a minimum of twice a week (including arrival day) and some accommodation may be cleaned more often. Cleaning usually consists of a sweep, mop, bathroom and kitchen tidy up.  (N.B. Simpson Secret, Anti Paxos is cleaned once a week on changeover day.)

Distances and timings
Please note that all walking and driving times stated are approximate estimates only. Transfer times are also approximate estimates only and do not include any waiting time.

Half-board
Hotel bookings with half-board include dinner, which is usually a fixed menu with or without a choice of dishes. In some hotels, you may take your half-board meal at lunchtime.

Health and safety
Simpson Travel is committed to raising the standards of health and safety throughout all our destinations. Our guests’ safety and wellbeing is of the highest importance to us. However, please note that since many of our properties are private homes, it is not always possible to meet the same exacting standards as in the UK. In your accommodation we will provide any necessary health and safety information. We ask you to familiarise yourself with this information and the property on arrival, particularly when travelling with children, and to raise any concerns with your local representative.

In some properties a baby monitor has been provided and to the best of our knowledge it is operating correctly but it is vital that you check regularly that the device is operating to your satisfaction. We strongly advise against relying on the baby monitor in case of malfunction. Simpson Travel cannot be held liable for any malfunction of the baby monitor and the use of the device is entirely at your own risk.

Internet access and connection
If a property offers wifi or internet access, the type of connection may vary. Additionally, the signal could be intermittent at times and may not be available in all areas of the property. There may be a charge for internet use in some properties.

Linen and laundry
Bed and bathroom linen is provided and usually laundered twice weekly. For your convenience some of our properties have a washing machine.

Noise and building works
Traffic, farm work, roadwork, animals and other sounds form part of everyday life, however, what constitutes ‘noise’ to one person may not be a problem for another. Please let us know if you have any special needs regarding this. Occasionally, building work is unavoidable as we do not control such work and may not know about it in advance. Whenever possible, we will notify you of any work that we believe may affect your holiday.

Occupancy
Only guests named on your invoice are entitled to occupy the accommodation.

Plumbing
Throughout Greece, especially in the older houses, the plumbing system is not designed to have items flushed down the lavatory. Where necessary, bins are provided in all bathrooms.

Satellite television
We cannot guarantee that a full selection of satellite channels will be available. Channels in English may be very limited and these are often only CNN or BBC World.

Seasonal facilities
Some facilities are subject to weather conditions and the general season, for example swimming pools, restaurant terraces, pool bars, local restaurants, and they may be limited or unavailable at the beginning or end of the season. Please do not hesitate to check with us, should a particular facility be a necessity to you.

Security and cleaning deposits
For self-catering properties, we require you to lodge a security deposit against any breakages, damage, losses, extra cleaning or outstanding accounts, which you may have incurred during your stay and/or due to your negligence. This should be provided by credit or debit card at the time of booking by providing authorisation for us to deduct (within 14 days of your return home) any advised charges from your card. Most of our properties are the owners’ personal homes and repairs, replacements and extra cleaning can be very expensive, so we do ask you to take care in order to avoid incurring extra costs.

Swimming pools
Swimming pool details are given on our website. Pool dimensions are approximate only and, unless specified otherwise, pools are freshwater and unheated. In Paxos most pools are filled using ‘sweet water’, which is generally a mix of well water (with some salt content) and fresh water. Dates when pools are operational are subject to the prevailing weather conditions at the time of opening and closing and we cannot be held responsible if poor weather means the pool is opened later, or is closed earlier in the season.

Upon arrival at your accommodation, we kindly ask you to acquaint yourselves with the pool’s safety and hygiene rules. Very few pools have covers, fencing or life rings, so children must be supervised at all times. Some pools are ‘infinity pools’ which have an exposed pool edge with an unprotected drop. This maximises views and is an attractive feature of the pool. We recommend that children are supervised and that you do not sit, lean or walk on the unprotected edge.

Villa owners
Whilst the owners or staff of some properties may live on site and tend to the grounds, they are aware that you value your privacy, and will do their best not to intrude. We do ask you, however, to allow them reasonable access to the property so that they can maintain the grounds and keep them in good order.

Welcome Pack
We offer a welcome pack in all our self-catering accommodation consisting of a small selection of staple items and local produce. This usually includes the following complimentary items: coffee, tea bags, milk, bottled water, fruit juice, bread, butter/margarine, crisps, white wine, local beers, tonic, pasta, pasta sauce, yoghurt, honey, regional biscuits, washing powder, washing-up liquid, dishwasher tablets, washing-up sponge, salt and pepper, sugar, olive oil, vinegar, mixed herbs and toilet paper.
