All that lies between this delightful hotel’s white-washed buildings and the wide sandy beach, that stretches almost as far as the eye can see, are beautiful tropical gardens, palm trees and a lush green lawn. Add to this an inviting swimming pool and GK Beach Hotel’s own restaurant and bar and you have one of the finest beachside locations in the Simpson portfolio. Soft, deep sand is shaded by tamarind trees and slopes gently into shallow water. Here the relaxed pace of life, combined with the more modern elements, induces a wonderful sense of peace and well-being.
This small intimate beachside hotel and its friendly owners, Yiannis and Katerina, take great pleasure in ensuring that guests experience the very best of Cretan hospitality. All the 23 light and airy suites have delightful sea views with breakfast served every morning on the terrace by the swimming pool overlooking the beach. GK's restaurant menu emphasises fresh local produce with many organic ingredients, some of which are harvested on their own land.
Fringed by the magnificent White Mountains of Western Crete, the GK Beach Hotel is an ideal spot in spring and autumn for walkers and explorers to enjoy the delightful traditional inland villages that have hardly changed for generations whilst the old historic Venetian harbour of Chania with its narrow streets is just a 25 minute drive whilst local shops and restaurants in nearby Kalyves are just a ten minute stroll away.
Relaxation comes in many forms and for those who enjoy being pampered, GK’s small Spa offers a holistic range of calming treatments whilst Simpson Travel’s knowledgeable concierge service can arrange anything from a special celebration to a personalised itinerary for a full day of island exploration.

We have just returned from 14 days at GK Hotel Crete. This was our first trip with Simpsons but after this holiday it will not be the last. We will now be expecting the Simpson high standard where ever we go. Excellent all round. Thank you.

We had an excellent time at the GK Beach Hotel Crete, the location is superb, and the service at the Hotel is second to none, we will certainly be returning next yearMr Jackson - June 2014
Another Simpson success !! As always, exceptional service from all the Simpson staff and we cannot recommend the company highly enough. Mr Potter - June 2014
This was the perfect holiday for us in the perfect location.
The hotel and all the staff couldn't be faulted.
Everything was beautifully organised and the transfers to and from the airport worked like clockwork.
We have very happy memories of a lovely two weeks in the sun.
We would have no hesitation in recommending both the hotel and Simpson Travel.Mrs Parslow - June 2014
The service extended by Simpson Travel, from first booking to final departure and return home is truly excellent, with nothing too much trouble, made possible by enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff and reps. We have been on several different locations with Simpson Travel, and each one has had that something special.Mr Symondson - June 2014
For me the purpose of this holiday was total relaxation to recharge my batteries after a very difficult few months & when I saw the GK hotel on line it looked just perfect - and it was! From the ease of booking - talking to someone who had been there many times - to the arrival in Crete & the quick transfer to the hotel where someone was waiting to greet us & take us straight to our room, it all went very smoothly. The hotel was just what I had hoped for & I relaxed from the moment we arrived & all the staff made us so welcome - it was just glorious - no rushing out to put towels on beds as there were plenty, or any type of stress at all. Just sheer rest & relaxation!! Getting up occasionally to get something from the bar of course or to visit Stellios in the spa for a wonderful massage. Can't wait to go back!Mrs Cummings - May 2014
Superb location, excellent hotel, very friendly staff - we will return.Mr Garratt - May 2014
I usually never write reviews on anything but this time I just could not stop myself. We stayed at the GK Beach Hotel in October 2013 and the entire trip was faultless. We have used Simpson Travel before on a trip to Corsica and were very pleased with the service. However this time it was even better. The attention to detail was excellent for example the correct child seating set ups in the airport transfers. I especially like the fact the presence of their Representatives is known but never felt.
Now on to the Hotel itself, words cannot describe how tranquil this place is. The staff felt like family by the time we left. The owners were so incredibly hospitable it was like they had invited us into their home. The actual setting is idyllic, on the beach, by the pool in a few steps, the view from the restaurant/bar area is unsurpassable. The buffet breakfast was fantastic, I could live off the Greek yoghurt and homemade honey. The rooms were perfect set up. Plus the cleaners were excellent, everyday the rooms were cleaned to a high standard, to the point of carefully arranging the kid's toys in a playful position on the beds.
All in all, I cannot be anymore positive about GK Beach Hotel! I cannot wait to go back one day and that is saying something as I never usually want to go back to the same holiday destination!
There are loads more great things I could write about, Kalyves, Simpson and GK but I am getting RSI in my fingers. Ms Wahed - October 2013
The service from the initial contact to arrival back home was outstanding, don't hesitate book with Simpson Travel.Mrs Barker - October 2013

Once again we had a fabulous time at GK, so much so that my daughter and I went back three weeks later for a sneaky week before school commenced!Mrs Calus - August 2013
There must be a good reason why we return to GK time and again. This was our 14th time and we have already put a hold on a room for next year! GK has everything; helpful concierge staff, the rooms are comfortable and clean; the maid service is friendly and unobtrustive; the pool is lovely for lounging, the beach is just behind the pool, so no need to schlep beach stuff. Sun beds are free at beach and pool and best of all you don't have to use your baggage allowance carrying towels as they are supplied. The selection of Korres toiletries is very good. The bar is a great focal point for socialising, if that's your thing, the people are friendly and helpful and the locality is lovely. There are plenty of nice tavernas in easy reach and the local wine goes down a treat after a hard day at the pool! What more could you want?Mrs Connolly - August 2013
Lovely hotel, amazing friendly and welcoming people. I have never been as relaxed on holiday before. Sun, Sea, Sand, Simpsons. When can I book to come back next year? . Mrs Meyrick - August 2013
We normally don't return to the same place twice, but we had no doubt about booking our return trip to the GK hotel and we weren't disappointed. Our second visit was just as enjoyable as the first. Well done Simpsons another fantastic holiday!!Mrs Farley - August 2013
Wonderful situation right on beach. Soft sand (better than Kalyves itself). Walking distance to supermarket (5 minutes), and Kalyves (15 minutes). If you don't drive, bus nearby and taxi, with English speaking driver available. Staff helpful and thoughtful.Mrs Freudenberg - August 2013

Thank you Simpson Travel for maintaining your high standards and delivering on detail.Ms Sammon - August 2013
It was the perfect location - great facilities (lovely large pool) at a beautiful hotel right on the beach with idyllic views. The sandy beach and ease of getting in and out of the sea is perfect for children, our kids loved jumping off the bridge on the river and we all enjoyed swimming in the sea and the snorkelling around the rocks which was amazing further up the beach.
The ease of getting there by taxi organised by Simpson and helpfulness of the staff throughout the holiday made it all very easy and relaxing.
Just booking our next holiday with Simpsons now.Mrs Arthur - August 2013

GK Beach is in a lovely location with both a wonderful beach and pool area. The Poolside bar/restaurant is excellant, very clean and very friendly and helpful staff. The bar in the evening was especailly good as the barman Babis made all guests very welcome. Harvey and Sarah were excellant onsite reps and Stellios (from the Spa was also really good and very knowledgable about the treatments). We wanted a week of complete relaxation and that is exactly what we got. We have no hesitation to recommend GK Beach to friends and also families with pre-school age children as it is in such a good location with the beach right on the doorstep. many thanks again for a very enjoyable week.Mrs Morgan - September 2012

Thank-you to Simpson Travel and all the wonderful staff at the GK Beach hotel. We had a fabulous holiday in a wonderful location in a beautiful and friendly hotel. We'd have loved to stay longer. A little bit of heaven in the corner of Crete!Mrs Old - September 2012
As usual GK was it`s usual pefect place for us,we have now visited six or seven times. Since we last visited it was upgraded to Hotel status offering breakfast service - however we did not expect such a varied buffet on offer every morning. The addition of the chief Dimitris was wonderful as we did not have to go into the village every evening for dinner and the food on offer was an added bonus and cooked to perfection. Knowing that a member of the Simpson staff were on site twice a day was another plus, any questions or problems were easily solved and help was at hand when needed.Mr Chapman - September 2012
A most enjoyable stay. The location remains ideal.Mr Hunt - September 2012
Reluctant to emphasise how great GK Beach is,wouldnt want too many people to know.........As may have a problem booking up for next year!!!!!!!!!Mrs Wakeling - September 2012

We had a thoroughly enjoyable family holiday. Thanks to your organisation, everything went smoothly and journeys were as painfree as it could possibly be with 2 small children. The location and hotel was perfect for us, the staff were all friendly and made us feel very welcome, and we had the added bonus of meeting lovely families with similar aged children. When we asked our 5 year old daughter whether she had had a nice holiday, she said "no, I didn't have a nice holiday, I had a GREAT holiday!" We couldn't have asked for a better response!Mrs Kato Callan - August 2012

Our 12th stay at GK was as enjoyable as ever, albeit a lot quieter than in some previous years. I feel sure that we will want to return once again!Mrs Downs - July 2012
The GK is a very good location and the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful making our holiday a very enjoyable experience. Mr Wall - June 2012
It’s the extra care and effort that makes it special. The garden is immaculate, the service so accommodating. Everyone is determined to make a good holiday. Many thanks to all and we hope to see you again.Mrs Fear - June 2012
This has been a wonderful week. We could have had a relaxing time but the fact is we saw so much of Western Crete – so much to see, wonderful weather and we never had a disappointing meal. Highlights for us were Aptera, the Botanical Gardens, Samaria Gorge, Loutro, Hania and Rethymnon.Dr Seth - June 2012
As already mentioned ALL the staff without exception made our stay truly memorable, we love them all. Georgia and Tonya work exstremely hard but always with a smile and always willing to help. Babis is just brilliant as well. Dimitris is a very good cook and a welcome addition, many an evening we spent with other guests enjoying the menu. Harvey is a breath of fresh air, really suits GK, well done for finding him and Sarah. Giannis & Katerinna are possibly the best owners/hosts we have come across, they take great pride in their hotel and it shows. Maids (sorry dont know their names) were 1st class, always clean and tidy, thank you for another great holiday. We hope to return again next year so please keep it as it is. Lots of talk about access to the pool but from a personal view point a few more rungs on the ladders would help.Mr Field - June 2012
Overall excellent holiday.Mrs Batchelder - June 2012
Our first visit to Crete and it has surpassed our wildest dreams. Visits to the South and the Samaria Gorge were absolutely brilliant. What has made the holiday has been Babis, Georgia and Tonia. We have had a truly lovely week. Thank you.Ms Gonsalves - May 2012
We came to Crete in search of sun and relaxation and having travelled with Simpson before we knew we would not be disappointed. Special thanks to Harvey for finding my long lost friend just down the road! We are left with lovely warm memories and in those infamous words ‘we will be back’.Mr Chapman - May 2012
This was very much a last minute holiday, but how lucky we have been! You could search and search for a place like this…location brilliant, staff wonderful, room great…we will be back.Mr Yates - May 2012
The secret of GK is Katerina, iannis, Dimitris, Babbis, Tonia, Georgia, Mr Harvey (as they call him) and his Simpson’s team. If these people cannot make you relax no-one can. A beautiful place which has become our holiday home.Mrs Durkan - May 2012
Sadly we leave today after our third wonderful holiday at GK. This place is just so perfect for our family which is why we keep coming back. Thank you Yiannis, Katerina and all the staff. See you again next year!Mr Baxby - October 2010
Thank you for a wonderful holiday to everyone at the GK. Thank you to Babis for all his kindness and hospitality, as well as being language teacher, along with Irini. Alkis, your gardens are very beautiful, you keep them well. And to all the cleaning ladies, thank you very much for keeping our rooms very clean.
It has been a great holiday, where so much warmth has been shown. Now I know why people return, year after year. Thank you (Efharisto!)Mrs Wedderburn - August 2010
We first came to GK in 2003 and we’re now at the end of our 6th visit and it’s been as special as all our other holidays here. Like others who have written in this book, we have scoured hundreds of brochures to find somewhere as idyllic as here and we have always failed and given into the children who beg to come back. GK has an unbeatable mix of location, fantastic owners and friendly staff. It was particularly good to have Babis back this year.
We won’t bother with the brochures next year, the girls want us to book 2011 when we get back!
Love and thanks to Yiannis and Katerina for the birthday present they so thoughtfully got for Abi and for putting up with us each year.Mr Kuseeraitis - August 2010
Our third visit here has proved even better that our previous visits especially as we have been joined with all our family, some flying in from Japan.
As always everyone has been most welcoming and friendly and the facilities excellent. We love coming to Crete, Kalyves, and hopefully will return to GK.Mrs Kipping - August 2010

Should you prefer to receive your documents by post, please ask us at the time of booking.
PASSPORTS AND VISAS
It is your responsibility to be in possession of a valid passport and any necessary visas. EU citizens do not need a visa to travel to Greece. If you are a non-EU citizen then you should check with your own embassy for the entry/re-entry requirements necessary for your journey. Children not on an accompanying parent’s passport before October 1998 are now required to hold their own passport if they are under 16 years. If you do not have a passport, it is recommended to apply at least 6 weeks before your holiday. Passports should be valid for 6 months after your return date.
Our prices are based on our lowest contracted fare. Occasionally it may be necessary to purchase flights outside of our normal allocation and in these circumstances we may need to charge an additional supplement to reflect the extra costs incurred. This will also be the case if we are booking flights from regional airports or on flights where we do not have a seat allocation. If a supplement applies, this will be advised to you at the time of booking.
Most charter airlines allow 20kg of luggage per person (excluding infants); however it is becoming more common for airlines to change their restrictions on luggage weight and the number of items. Before travelling, we recommend you check your flight tickets for details and check with the airline’s website if travelling on a non-charter flight.
IN-FLIGHT MEALS AND SPECIAL DIETS
If the airline you are travelling with offers in-flight meals, requests for special meals may be made up to 14 days prior to departure. Whilst we will always pass your request onto the airline, we are unable to guarantee supply. Charges may apply and we will confirm these to you at the time of booking.
GROUP SEATING AND EXTRA LEGROOM
Some airlines offer passengers the opportunity of pre-booking guaranteed seats together at a pre-paid supplement (seats may be situated either side of an aisle) and some offer seating with extra legroom for a reasonable supplement. Availability and supplements can be advised at the time of booking.
You will usually need a certificate of fitness to fly if you are more than 28 weeks pregnant. Most airlines will not allow you to fly if you are more than 32 weeks pregnant. Please refer to the airline’s website for details of their policy.
API (ADDITIONAL PASSENGER INFORMATION)
Most countries require that the airline take additional information from each passenger such as full name, date and place of birth, passport number, country of issue and expiry date. You will need to provide this information at the time of booking or, at the very latest, prior to release of your travel documents. You are able to complete the details online via Manage My Booking or call a member of our Pre-Departure team.
The name shown on a ticket must exactly match the name of the passenger travelling as it appears in his/her passport (first full name and surname). If not, you may be refused boarding. Once your flights have been booked, it is not usually possible to make name changes without incurring substantial charges. If there are any errors on your invoice or your flight tickets, please inform us immediately.
FOREIGN OFFICE ADVICE BEFORE YOU TRAVEL
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office provides up-to-date travel information to help British travellers make informed decisions about travelling abroad. Should you wish to check their advice or information about the destination you are travelling to, please visit their website: www.fco.gov.uk/en or call 020 7008 1500.
In the event of a flight delay, whenever possible we will ensure that the airline/operator communicates the reasons for and extent of any delay and implements appropriate standards of welfare provision. EU carriers should also comply with EU Regulation 261/2004 in the event of delays, cancellations or denied boarding and guidance is provided on the CAA’s website www.caa.co.uk
CAR HIRE INFORMATION
Most of our holidays include an air-conditioned hire car, to be collected from and returned to the airport (or port where applicable). The category of car included in the basic holiday price will vary according to the number of people in your party. We do not consider infants as part of the total party size. The cars we have included offer comfortable seating for the size of party travelling, however, we do ask you to take into account the size of the boot space for your luggage if any infants are in your party, and the number of child and baby seats required. You may wish to upgrade your car to give you extra comfort and space. Availability and supplements for upgrading will be advised at the time of booking. For transporting extra luggage it is also possible to pre-book a taxi.
The types of cars listed are only examples of car models in each category. We cannot guarantee that you will receive a specific make or model.

INCLUDED IN YOUR CAR HIRE
• Unlimited mileage
• Local taxes and compulsory insurance
• Two main drivers. Please note that there is a minimum age for drivers (minimum ages vary from 21 to 25 and can be advised at the time of booking) although there is no maximum age limit. Drivers must hold a British/EU Driver’s Licence or International Driver’s Licence, held for at least a year. You will not be able to hire a car without your original, valid Driver’s Licence which you must carry at all times when you are driving. Please also take the counterpart of your licence if you hold a photo licence.
Please note that in most cases you will need to pay an ‘excess’ in the event of theft or damage to your hire car, regardless of blame. As amounts and conditions vary throughout Greece, please ensure you ask for full details at collection, before you sign your car hire contract. The excess charge ranges from €300 to €1,000 dependent on your destination. Where an ‘excess’ applies, it may be possible to purchase extra insurance locally, which reduces or cancels the ‘excess.’ The insurance with or without the excess will not cover:
• Tyres, including puncture repairs
• Loss of or damage to car keys (and costs incurred due to this, for example towing and replacement keys, etc.)
• Windscreen, wing mirrors or undercarriage (you should not drive off-road)
• Interior of car is also not covered in Corfu and Paxos
• Personal Accident Insurance (this should be covered by your personal travel insurance)
• Any damage, loss, accident, theft, attempted theft, etc caused by your own negligence, for example, driving under the influence of alcohol, unlawful driving, driving off-road, using wrong type of fuel, unlocked doors, apparent personal effects, etc.
CAR HIRE DEPOSIT
The car hire agents will require you to lodge a credit card deposit when you collect your car. No money will be taken if you return the undamaged car at the correct time with the correct amount of fuel and not requiring cleaning.
Child and baby seats (forward facing seats only are available) can be provided if booked at least 2 weeks prior to your departure and are charged at £2 per day. Please remember to specify the age of the child. Local car hire and Simpson Travel staff are not authorised to install the child seats and as style and installation may differ to those in the UK, you may prefer to bring your own child seat for your own peace of mind.
Please refer to the information at the top of the page for details of the transfers included in the cost of your holiday. Taxis are licensed and insured to carry up to 4 passengers. Therefore, if there are 4 passengers and an infant then 2 taxis are needed and we will provide you with a separate quotation. If you are travelling with young children or babies, child seats are not provided for any vehicles used for transfers. For your own peace of mind, we recommend that you bring your own although there is no guarantee that local taxi companies will allow the use of child seats. Please note that the transfer times included in our accommodation details are approximate estimates only and do not include any waiting time.
Although we pre-arrange and book your ferry crossings in advance, poor weather or ferry cancellations may disrupt the schedules. In most cases, when you arrive at the port you will have to wait a certain amount of time for your onward boat transfer. If your flight experiences delays and you miss your pre-booked boat transfer, we will then book you onto the next available boat. If you miss the last ferry due to a flight delay or cancellation due to poor weather, it may be necessary for you to overnight at the port and then take the ferry the following morning.
ACCOMMODATION AND USEFUL INFORMATION
Air-conditioning and heating
We have indicated in the property descriptions which accommodation has air-conditioning included in the holiday price. Heating is available in some of our properties during the low season weeks, which is normally included in the holiday price.
Animals and wildlife
As in all rural communities, indigenous animals are an essential part of the way of life. The braying of a donkey, crow of a cockerel or the barking of a dog is not a complaint that receives much sympathy from the locals! Care should be taken to minimise the presence of insects and animals in your accommodation. Keep surfaces clean, dispose of refuse regularly and ensure that food is not left uncovered. Cats and dogs are often resident where an owner or manager lives on the property. If you are allergic to cats and/or dogs please ensure that you check the suitability of your chosen accommodation with us prior to confirming your booking.
We have specified if a barbecue is available at your accommodation. Please note that often in summer, due to the hot weather, use of your barbecue may not be allowed and/or strict rules for its use may apply. The local or national government reserves the right to introduce new rulings at any time, often with little prior notice, prohibiting the use of barbecues to reduce the risk of fires. Where a barbecue is not provided, it is usually because the surroundings are considered a fire risk or inappropriate for the use of barbecues.
We provide Simpson Travel beach/pool towels in all our self-catering properties and these are normally laundered weekly. We would be happy to advise you which of our hotels provide beach/pool towels and if a charge applies.
Please note that a double bed could be two single beds placed together. Double beds usually measure 140cm x 190cm and single beds 80/90cm x 190cm. If you are booking a hotel room, please let us know your room preference (double or twin). Although we will make every effort to convey your request to the hotel, we cannot guarantee your preference will be available.
Check-in and check-out
You will usually be able to occupy your villa or apartment after 4pm and you must vacate it on the day of departure by 10am. Most of our hotels follow common practice with regard to check-in and check-out times (around midday); however some have later check-in times between 3pm and 5pm.
Self-catering accommodation is cleaned a minimum of twice a week (including arrival day) and some accommodation may be cleaned more often. Cleaning usually consists of a sweep, mop, bathroom and kitchen tidy up.
Distances and timings
Please note that all walking and driving times stated are approximate estimates only. Transfer times are also approximate estimates only and do not include any waiting time.
Hotel bookings with half-board include dinner, which is usually a fixed menu with or without a choice of dishes. In some hotels, you may take your half-board meal at lunchtime.
Health and safety
Simpson Travel is committed to raising the standards of health and safety throughout all our destinations. Our guests’ safety and wellbeing is of the highest importance to us. However, please note that since many of our properties are private homes, it is not always possible to meet the same exacting standards as in the UK. In your accommodation we will provide any necessary health and safety information. We ask you to familiarise yourself with this information and the property on arrival, particularly when travelling with children, and to raise any concerns with your local representative.
Internet access and connection
If a property offers wifi or internet access, the type of connection may vary. Additionally, the signal could be intermittent at times and may not be available in all areas of the property. There may be a charge for internet use in some properties.
Linen and laundry
Bed and bathroom linen is provided and usually laundered twice weekly. For your convenience some of our properties have a washing machine.
Noise and building works
Traffic, farm work, roadwork, animals and other sounds form part of everyday life, however, what constitutes ‘noise’ to one person may not be a problem for another. Please let us know if you have any special needs regarding this. Occasionally, building work is unavoidable as we do not control such work and may not know about it in advance. Whenever possible, we will notify you of any work that we believe may affect your holiday.
Only guests named on your invoice are entitled to occupy the accommodation.
Throughout Greece, especially in the older houses, the plumbing system is not designed to have items flushed down the lavatory. Where necessary, bins are provided in all bathrooms.
We cannot guarantee that a full selection of satellite channels will be available. Channels in English may be very limited and these are often only CNN or BBC World.
Some facilities are subject to weather conditions and the general season, for example swimming pools, restaurant terraces, pool bars, local restaurants, and they may be limited or unavailable at the beginning or end of the season. Please do not hesitate to check with us, should a particular facility be a necessity to you.
Security and cleaning deposits
For self-catering properties, we require you to lodge a security deposit against any breakages, damage, losses, extra cleaning or outstanding accounts, which you may have incurred during your stay and/or due to your negligence. This should be provided by credit or debit card at the time of booking by providing authorisation for us to deduct (within 14 days of your return home) any advised charges from your card. Most of our properties are the owners’ personal homes and repairs, replacements and extra cleaning can be very expensive, so we do ask you to take care in order to avoid incurring extra costs.
Swimming pool details are given on our website. Pool dimensions are approximate only and, unless specified otherwise, pools are freshwater and unheated. In Paxos most pools are filled using ‘sweet water’, which is generally a mix of well water (with some salt content) and fresh water. Dates when pools are operational are subject to the prevailing weather conditions at the time of opening and closing and we cannot be held responsible if poor weather means the pool is opened later, or is closed earlier in the season.
Upon arrival at your accommodation, we kindly ask you to acquaint yourselves with the pool’s safety and hygiene rules. Very few pools have covers, fencing or life rings, so children must be supervised at all times. Some pools are ‘infinity pools,’ which have an exposed pool edge with an unprotected drop. This maximises views and is an attractive feature of the pool. We recommend that children are supervised and that you do not sit, lean or walk on the unprotected edge.
Whilst the owners or staff of some properties may live on site and tend to the grounds, they are aware that you value your privacy, and will do their best not to intrude. We do ask you, however, to allow them reasonable access to the property so that they can maintain the grounds and keep them in good order.
We offer a welcome pack in all our self-catering accommodation consisting of a small selection of staple items and local produce. This includes the following complimentary items: coffee, tea bags, milk, bottled water, fruit juice, bread, butter/margarine, crisps, white wine, local beers, tonic, pasta, pasta sauce, yoghurt, honey, regional biscuits, washing powder, washing-up liquid, dishwasher tablets, washing-up sponge, salt and pepper, sugar, olive oil, mixed herbs and toilet paper.
