Great weather, beautiful blue skies so we spent most of our time reclining and facing west. Excellent accommodation, simple and sufficient.Mr Robinson - September 2014
What a lovely, enjoyable and beautiful location, our stay at the Mill was a complete joy.Mrs Johnson - August 2014
Inspired by watching Le tour de France last year on TV, we planned our first visit to Corsica; we've had a wonderful week in this spectacular landscape. Everything about Moulin has been perfect.Mr Askwith - July 2014
If you want to stay somewhere surrounded by a beautiful stunning landscape this is..' The Place.' Peace ,seclusion, your very own waterfall and a lovely village just up the road, what more could you want?!....Mrs Spice - May 2014
We loved Corsica and the Moulin des Calanques was just about perfect. We could not recommend it too highly.Mr Brewster - April 2014
Le Moulin is perfect, breathtaking in every way. The weather has been great. We both fell in love with Piana, everyone we met were so welcoming. Thank you Simpson Travel, everything was made so easy for us.Mr and Mrs Knellar - September 2013
First time visitors who also arrived to be greeted by a torrential downpour. Thereafter we have had glorious weather and experienced magical adventures and discoveries. We have enjoyed discovering our own walks - breathtaking views. The natural beauty of the area and the welcome we have received from the people of Piana has been simply wonderful and we shall go home with so many happy memories. Thank you to the owners and Simpson Travel (in particular to Debbie for all your help).Ms Kean - September 2013
This place will probably be the standard by which we'll judge every future holiday home. As a bird watcher/nature lover, this is a particularly wonderful place to spend time. The best bit - the waterfall and pool. Lovely, Thanks!Ms Bunker - August 2013
We have had an incredible two weeks here at Le Moulin. The privacy in such a wonderful setting has been a totally unique and wonderful experience. The walking has been fantastic. We adored the waterfall and pool. All in all, an incredible holiday in an incredible location, thank you Simpson's what a find!Mr and Mrs Burrows - July 2013
What an amazing place to spend a week; so much to see, do and enjoy! Very interesting wildlife, incredible how the goats can come down the almost vertical cliff opposite. All in all, this has been a fantastic holiday - thank you Simpson Travel!Mr and Mrs Stirling - July 2013
What a perfect introduction to Corsica, Le Moulin des Calanques, Piana and the Tour de France at the gate. This is a perfect spot for a pair of romantic nature lovers, so thank you to the owner for making the old mill such a fabulous holiday cottage.Mr and Mrs Rowley - June 2013
It's our first visit to Corsica and we are wondering why? We'll take the memories of Le Moulin with us. It's felt like an absolute privilege to be guests here. My husband made it into the waterfall; he re-enacted the "Timotei" advert. Looking forward to our return, thank you Simpson Travel.Mr and Mrs Williams - June 2013
A really enjoyable holiday. Thank youMr Underhay - May 2013
A week is not long enough to enjoy all that Corsica has to offer. We have loved every moment and have felt very privileged staying at Le Moulin. Thoughts of ‘Le Grand Pere’ together with his goats; chestnut flour and the history of the area. It is all so perfect and stunning beautiful! Next time we will come prepared for serious walking as losing the pathway on the Piana/Ota Mule Track was far from ideal but we made it and love the memory. Although not honeymooners, even after 25 years of marriage we have felt a special romance here. Le Moulin is a very special place and we feel very lucky to have found this gem. Thank you, we’ll be back.Mr Wendt - September 2012
Another first time visitor to Corsica. The Moulin des Calanques is magnificent. The Calanques in the evening sun from the terrace are truly splendid. The variations in pinks and greens are stunning. The roads and the views are stunning. Don’t be a nervous driver or passenger! Hairpin bends, blind corners, magnificent view, French drivers who believe in ‘priorité à la droite’, gauche, or any other variation as long as they have the middle of the road! Otherwise exceptionally courteous – can be stubborn as when a coach and two lorries met on the Calanques – neither willing to reverse until the police arrived to organise. Be fit and prepared the walks are fantastic. Don’t be afraid of heights or exposed paths. The Chemin Ancient Piana to Ota was superb. I would love to return and do some cycling (fit and prepared, essential). I can understand why at least one stage of the Tour de France 2013 is to be held here. The cyclists will think the Alps have arrived early! Everywhere is a long way – be warned you could spend a long time driving! The beach from the village –Ficaghiola is lovely.Dr Costello - September 2012
Out first visit to Corsica. The Corsican Mountains are amazing and Le Moulin is the perfect place to stay – a walkers’ paradise! Our favourite walks have been (in order of preference) 1. Piana/Ota Mule Track – stunning views of Le Moulin 2. The Spelunca Gorges from the deux ponts – the Zaglia Bridge. 3. Evisa – The Chestnut Grove, combined with the walk to the Aitone rock pools and waterfall. 4. Capu Russu to the Turghju Tower 5. Plage de Ficaghiola from Piana 6. Chateau Fort from Tete de Chien All these walks can be found in the very useful ‘Hikes and Walks Book’ Interesting encounters: wild goats, wild boar (even got caught up in a wild boar hunt), the chestnut trees looked splendid laden with sweet chestnuts, two Ospreys. ‘Stumpy’ (the resident tailless lizard) is still bossing around all other lizards on the terrace, much to our amusement. We have been able to get everything we have needed in the little shops in Piana. Regarding ‘Le Moulin’ – words fail me. It is PERFECT in every way. ‘Merci monsieur Castellani’ for letting us share your lovely little house in the hills. And thank you Simpson Travel for enabling us to make the journey. Tres Magnifique!Mr Brooks - September 2012
Had a lovely week here (our 2nd visit) in this unique and wonderful house and area. We’ve enjoyed it even more than our first time, especially as Le Moulin is so well equipped. Delightful and simple. As we have visited Corsica many times, we have spent most of our time in and around Le Moulin. We have enjoyed; • Walking up to the Bergerie and Louer to look at the dramatic view – and tiny tourists across the road. • Absorbing the atmosphere of the Les Calanches (don’t forget a torch). • Beach – Plage d’Arone and the headland above it is excellent for snorkelling, and can be very quiet. • Watching the mountain goats scrambling down the cliff face as they went on the rampage at dusk (not their smell!) – Having a dip in the pool. All in all an excellent week. Please keep this property as it is.Miss Unwin - July 2012
A glorious fortnight – hot sunny days, with always a little breeze, and clear starry nights, the best we have seen for years. Sunset in the Les Calanche is exceptional, but every time of the day here has been lovely. We’ve enjoyed watching the pair of jays which seem to live in the valley and the glossy black crows which are here each day but lead of northwards at sunset. Also the little lizards which are everywhere by day and the bats which fly in the valley at evening. We’ve admired the goats’ ascent of the rocks opposite, but drew the line at their visiting our terrace (on account of their pungent smell). The frogs which we have heard nightly, but not seen, have charmed us at night except when they have kept us awake! We know Corsica quite well but have enjoyed this region very much as it is so well-protected and unspoilt. Plage d’Arone is lovely and has beautiful sand, and some of our mountain walks nearby have included superb rock pools. If choosing a boat trip to Scandola be sure to go when sea is calm; we survived, but some families’ memories of their trip will not be of the scenery! We were shown Osprey nests on the trip and have seen the birds themselves several times, above Plage d’Arone and elsewhere, though not in the valley here. We’ve found this the perfect place to relax and unwind. Today is our last and we shall miss it! We hope those who follow in coming weeks this summer enjoy it as much as we have. P.S. Please keep the Moulin TV and Wi-Fi free, this has been great for us.Mr Perryman - July 2012
At dark a double chirp starts, and throughout the night, a chorus, but always led by that strongest voice. We thought it was a bird. But the current theory is frog. The biggest frog in the rock pools. After a week here, we are relaxed and recharged. The living, and the pace have given us some shins and many new perspectives – around each chunk of granite. I scrambled up to the top of the valley opposite every evening to watch the shades of pink deepen on the rock above the road. It has been a privilege to share this ‘secret’, and by the end of the week, understand why it can’t be better known; to be in the middle of a protected landscape, a wildness by virtue of its vertical heights and yet a landscape that has enchanted visitors for so long, and which the various Corsicans, or occupiers have manipulated, made more accessible, for so long, with such care (look up to the right side of the cliff above the road and see the dry stone work of the magical Piana – Ota road). And hike it. Words of advice for hikers – start early and bring plenty of water when it’s warm. We did the Capu Rossu hike starting at 8am and that was probably an hour late, but worth every laboured tread. So sorry to be on our way, looking forward to our next visit.Mrs Blythe - July 2012
Thank you. We are very happy customers.Mrs Blythe - July 2012
Despite the fact we arrived in a torrential downpour and that it continued for the next 3 days we have loved Corsica! The sun finally put in an appearance on day 4, the mists lifted, we saw the views with sparkly blue seas and all was forgiven! Fantastic walks out to Capu Rossu (about 4 hours round trip from the car park), Girolata (allow 3/4 hours), plus the one behind Les Calanche towards Lion Rock – had not bargained on the scramble/rock climbing on the descent! Took the fantastic drive out to Ota/Evisa, stopped off at the Pont de Zaglia, and then walked towards Evisa along the Spelunca Gorge. Finally the benefit of the heavy rain paid off – the river was in full flow, absolutely incredible. Just before entering Erisa there’s a beautiful viewpoint on the left. Day 6 and the water level had gone down enough for us to get to the waterfall and rock pool so that we could look back over the house and take some fantastic photos! Brilliant week, great holidayMs Gifford - May 2012
Although we researched Corsica on the Internet and bought guide books, the reality is so much more! When they said Mountainous we didn't quite expect this. It is so much more beautiful. As for ‘Le Moulin’ Wow what a place. This is a delayed honeymoon for us and we couldn't have done better! The driving is a bit tricky at first but once you've mastered that there is so much to see. Love going down to the boulangerie in the morning for stuff for breakfast. Going to have to look up the recipe for those glorious sweet tarts he makes. Like a custard tart but better! Agree that the lizards are very amusing. We have a particularly friendly one with a dodgy tail! No dolphins for us on the boat trip from Porto but we have had a snake on the terrace! The walk in the gorge from Ota is wonderful and it’s well worth the drive up. Just to see the village. Take a dip in the pool in the afternoon when the sun is so hot. Then sit on the rocks and bask like a lizard. Thank you Simpson, you've done us proud and we will be back!Mr & Mrs Johnson - May 2012
Corsica, and ‘Le Moulin’ exceeded our expectations, which were already high! Perfect weather following an almighty thunderstorm on our arrival! This seemed to replenish the waterfalls and rock pool – which was beautiful, but very very very cold. After much consideration, we resisted temptation to ‘do the whole of Corsica’ in 7 days... and concentrated on discovering the natural beauty locally, by car and on foot (local walks are well signposted). Porto was a favourite of ours –great sunsets and an excellent starting point for a boat trip to Scandola/Girolata/Capu Rossu. This being our honeymoon we had hoped for something very special – it has been exceptional and unique. We are so thrilled to have shared this beautiful Moulin and its location. Thank you Owners and Simpson – please keep this a ‘secret’ forever!Mr Trotter - May 2012

If a security deposit is applicable, the amount required will be stated in the Details section of the property. Please alert your local representative to any breakages or damages during your stay.

PASSPORTS AND VISAS
It is your responsibility to be in possession of a valid passport and any necessary visas. EU citizens do not need a visa to travel to France. If you are a non-EU citizen then you should check with your own embassy for the entry/re-entry requirements necessary for your journey. Children not on an accompanying parent’s passport before October 1998 are now required to hold their own passport if they are under 16 years. If you do not have a passport, it is recommended to apply at least 6 weeks before your holiday. Passports should be valid for 6 months after your return date.
Our prices are based on our lowest contracted fare. Occasionally it may be necessary to purchase flights outside of our normal allocation and in these circumstances we may need to charge an additional supplement to reflect the extra costs incurred. This will also be the case if we are booking flights from regional airports or on flights where we do not have a seat allocation. If a supplement applies, this will be advised to you at the time of booking.
If you are flying on our British Airways charter service from London to Figari you are permitted to carry one piece of checked luggage per person up to 23kg. One piece of hand baggage is permitted up to 10kg (maximum dimensions 56cm x 45cm x 25cm).
Infants are permitted a 10kg checked bag allowance plus a fully collapsible pushchair, a car seat and one piece of hand luggage for items required in the flight (subject to security restrictions).

One piece of hand baggage is permitted measuring a maximum 56 x 45 x 25cm (including wheels, pockets and handles) which you must be able to place and retrieve safely in the overhead lockers without assistance.
If you are flying with any other airline, please check the airline’s website for details.
It is common for airlines to change their restrictions on luggage weight and the number of items so, before travelling, we recommend you check the airline’s website for the latest information.
IN-FLIGHT MEALS AND SPECIAL DIETS
British Airways offer an in-flight snack on our service from London to Figari. Special meal requests may be made up to 14 days prior to departure. Easyjet offers a pay on board snack service.
GROUP SEATING AND EXTRA LEGROOM
Some airlines offer passengers the opportunity of pre-booking guaranteed seats together at a pre-paid supplement (seats may be situated either side of an aisle) and some offer seating with extra legroom for a reasonable supplement. Availability and supplements can be advised at the time of booking.
You will usually need a certificate of fitness to fly if you are more than 28 weeks pregnant. Most airlines will not allow you to fly if you are more than 32 weeks pregnant. Please refer to the airline’s website for details of their policy.
API (ADDITIONAL PASSENGER INFORMATION)
Most countries require that the airline take additional information from each passenger such as full name, date and place of birth, passport number, country of issue and expiry date. You will need to provide this information at the time of booking or, at the very latest, prior to release of your travel documents. You are able to complete the details online via Manage My Booking or call a member of our Pre-Departure team.
The name shown on the itinerary must exactly match the name of the passenger travelling as it appears in his/her passport (first full name and surname). If not, you may be refused boarding. Once your flights have been booked, it is not usually possible to make name changes without incurring substantial charges. If there are any errors on your invoice or your itinerary, please inform us immediately.
FOREIGN OFFICE ADVICE BEFORE YOU TRAVEL
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office provides up-to-date travel information to help British travellers make informed decisions about travelling abroad. Should you wish to check their advice or information about the destination you are travelling to, please visit their website: www.fco.gov.uk/en or call 020 7008 1500.
In the event of a flight delay, whenever possible we will ensure that the airline/operator communicates the reasons for and extent of any delay and implements appropriate standards of welfare provision. EU carriers should also comply with EU Regulation 261/2004 in the event of delays, cancellations or denied boarding and guidance is provided on the CAA’s website www.caa.co.uk
CAR HIRE INFORMATION
Most of our holidays include an air-conditioned hire car, to be collected from and returned to the airport (or port where applicable). The category of car included in the basic holiday price will vary according to the number of people in your party. We do not consider infants as part of the total party size. The cars we have included offer comfortable seating for the size of party travelling, however, we do ask you to take into account the size of the boot space for your luggage if any infants are in your party, and the number of child and baby seats required. You may wish to upgrade your car to give you extra comfort and space. Availability and supplements for upgrading will be advised at the time of booking. For transporting extra luggage it is also possible to pre-book a taxi at additional cost.
The types of cars listed are only examples of car models in each category. We cannot guarantee that you will receive a specific make or model.

ACCOMMODATION AND USEFUL INFORMATION
Air-conditioning and heating
We have indicated in the property descriptions which accommodation has air-conditioning included in the holiday price. Heating is available in some of our properties during the low season weeks, which is normally included in the holiday price.
Animals and wildlife
As in all rural communities, indigenous animals are an essential part of the way of life. The braying of a donkey, crow of a cockerel or the barking of a dog is not a complaint that receives much sympathy from the locals! Care should be taken to minimise the presence of insects and animals in your accommodation. Keep surfaces clean, dispose of refuse regularly and ensure that food is not left uncovered. Cats and dogs are often resident where an owner or manager lives on the property. If you are allergic to cats and/or dogs please ensure that you check the suitability of your chosen accommodation with us prior to confirming your booking.
We have specified if a barbecue is available at your accommodation. Please note that often in summer, due to the hot weather, use of your barbecue may not be allowed and/or strict rules for its use may apply. The local or national government reserves the right to introduce new rulings at any time, often with little prior notice, prohibiting the use of barbecues to reduce the risk of fires. Where a barbecue is not provided, it is usually because the surroundings are considered a fire risk or inappropriate for the use of barbecues.
We provide Simpson Travel beach/pool towels in all our self-catering properties and these are normally laundered weekly.
Please note that a double bed could be two single beds placed together. If you are booking a hotel room, please let us know your room preference (double or twin). Although we will make every effort to convey your request to the hotel, we cannot guarantee your preference will be available.
Check-in and check-out
You will usually be able to occupy your villa or apartment after 5pm and you should vacate it on the day of departure between 9am and 11am. Please refer to specific property details for exact times. Most of our hotels follow common practice with regard to check-in and check-out times (around midday); however some have later check-in times between 3pm and 5pm. Please refer to the individual property information for timings.
Self-catering accommodation is clean on your arrival and for two week stays it will be cleaned mid-holiday. The mid-holiday clean includes bathroom, kitchen surfaces, floor sweeping and change of bed and bath linen. If additional or more frequent cleaning is required, this can be arranged locally with our representative at an additional cost.
Distances and timings
Please note that all walking and driving times stated are approximate estimates only. Transfer times are also approximate estimates only and do not include any waiting time.
Hotel bookings with half-board include dinner, which is usually a fixed menu with or without a choice of dishes. In some hotels, you may take your half-board meal at lunchtime.
Health and safety
Simpson Travel is committed to raising the standards of health and safety throughout all our destinations. Our guests’ safety and wellbeing is of the highest importance to us. However, please note that since many of our properties are private homes, it is not always possible to meet the same exacting standards as in the UK. In your accommodation we will provide any necessary health and safety information. We ask you to familiarise yourself with this information and the property on arrival, particularly when travelling with children, and to raise any concerns with your local representative.
In some properties a baby monitor has been provided and to the best of our knowledge it is operating correctly but it is vital that you check regularly that the device is operating to your satisfaction. We strongly advise against relying on the baby monitor in case of malfunction. Simpson Travel cannot be held liable for any malfunction of the baby monitor and the use of the device is entirely at your own risk.
Internet access and wifi
Internet access and wifi is available when stated in the relevant accommodation description details. Please note there may be restrictions with the availability and speed of the service transmitted by the local provider and technical issues may cause temporary withdrawal of internet facilities. We are unable to accept responsibility for any down time or consequences of using this service and refund/compensation cannot be offered due to circumstances beyond our control such as adverse weather conditions.
Linen and laundry
Bed and bathroom linen is provided weekly. For your convenience some of our properties have a washing machine.
Noise and building works
Traffic, farm work, roadwork, animals and other sounds form part of everyday life, however, what constitutes ‘noise’ to one person may not be a problem for another. Please let us know if you have any special needs regarding this. Occasionally, building work is unavoidable as we do not control such work and may not know about it in advance. Whenever possible, we will notify you of any work that we believe may affect your holiday.

We cannot guarantee that a full selection of satellite channels will be available. Channels in English may be very limited and these are often only CNN or BBC World.
Some facilities are subject to weather conditions and the general season, for example swimming pools, restaurant terraces and courtyards, pool bars, local restaurants, and they may be limited or unavailable at the beginning or end of the season. Please do not hesitate to check with us, should a particular facility be a necessity to you.
Swimming pool details are given on our website. Pool dimensions are approximate only and, unless specified otherwise, pools are freshwater and unheated. Dates when pools are operational are subject to the prevailing weather conditions at the time of opening and closing and we cannot be held responsible if poor weather means the pool is opened later, or is closed earlier in the season.
Upon arrival at your accommodation, we kindly ask you to acquaint yourselves with the pool’s safety and hygiene rules. All our pools in Corsica and mainland France comply with French law and are fitted with one of the following forms of security: fence, alarm or cover. Please check the property details page for the specific security measure that applies to your selected property. Some pools are ‘infinity pools’ which have an exposed pool edge with an unprotected drop. This maximises views and is an attractive feature of the pool. We recommend that you do not sit, lean or walk on the unprotected edge. Children must be supervised at all times.
Pool heating is a service that can be provided on a weekly basis in select properties. The cost varies according to size of pool from £100 to £200 per week. As a general rule pool heating will only bring the pool temperature up by approximately 10 degrees higher than the night time temperature. As such in early or late season you may still consider the pool temperature to be too cold despite heating. We regret that should this be the case Simpson Travel, our local agents and owners cannot refund monies paid for this facility.
Whilst the owners or staff of some properties may live on site and tend to the grounds, they are aware that you value your privacy, and will do their best not to intrude. We do ask you, however, to allow them reasonable access to the property so that they can maintain the grounds and keep them in good order.
