Superior service and attention to detail from beginning to end.Mrs Riemer - July 2016
Mon Cabanon is a lovely place to use as a base in the south of Corsica. It is a 10 minute drive to Porto Vecchio and it's lovely beaches, and it is at the base of the mountain range for wonderful walks and excellent quad biking. The accommodation is well equipped and has fantastic views to the sea. We had a great time.thank youMrs Mahony - May 2016
Mon Cabonon was absolutely beautiful, you should be very proud to offer such a lovely venue. Everything was perfect in terms of arrival, hire car pick up & the directions were spot on ( the 1st time I have driven abroad so was a little nervous!! ). David Henry was the rep for the cabin & he was very knowledgeable, not just about the area but with specifics to do too. The delivery of a bit of food for the 1st night was a very welcoming touch. All in all, Simpson travel are 1st class, please keep it up....the 1st website we'll be checking for next years holiday, is yours. Thank YouMr Nicholls - August 2015
Mon Cabanon is a fantastic and very private retreat in a lovely location with amazing views. So many decorative and practical features from the owners which made this place very special. We had a wonderful relaxing weeks holiday, just what we wanted.Mr Askwith - July 2015
Absolutely fantastic in every way. Could not fault anything! Best tour operator I have ever used and I used to be a travel agent! Faultless well done Simpson!!Mrs Browes - July 2015
This has been our first visit to Corsica and this has been our best holiday to date. For us this is exactly what we were looking for, the peace and quiet away from hustle and bustle of everyday life.Mrs Broadfield - June 2014
It was our first trip to Corsica, and booked at the very last minute, but Mon Cabanon was just perfect! A sweet little cabin a short drive up into the mountains from nearby Porto Vecchio, you get the best of both worlds. Close to the gorgeous beaches of the south east coast but also away from the hustle of the main towns and resorts etc. The cabin has everything you need for a getaway week and was spotless and well looked after by on-site owners, Florence and Freddy who were both lovely and ready to share their favourite places with us! Our rep was really helpful, shared with us her favourite spots and restaurant advice. Our favourite parts of the week - an amazing walk along the headland near Bonifacio to Petit and Grand Sperone beaches; dinner at Costa Marina (best pizza experienced in a long time!!); a day chilling out on Palombaggia beach and a drive up to Zonza to see the beautiful interior of the island. Overall, we thought it was a beautiful unspoilt island. Simpson were great and we would definitely use them again.Mrs Robson - May 2014
What an amazing week we've had - my only complaint is that we didn't book two! Mon Cabonon has been the perfect home from home from which to explore and return to in the evening for BBQs and exquisite sunsets.Mr Smith - May 2014
We couldn't fault the accommodation, location or Simpson's serviceMr Ewbank - August 2013
Quality company offering quality holidaysMr Howe - August 2013
Thanks very much for a brilliant holiday. Mon Cabanon is a delightful villa and it was lovely to go for second visit. Pity we didn't win at the Zonza horse racing.Mrs Hinkins - July 2013
Mon Cabanon is an idyllic location for a relaxing holiday in the sun. From the rugged mountains to the beautiful coastline, Corsica has so much to offer.Mr Reason - June 2013
An excellent week in Corsica, thank you very much.Mr Keeling - September 2012
We’re a couple of old fogeys celebrating 25 years together. It’s our first stay in the south of Corsica, though we stayed near Bastia some years ago. Lovely accommodation and we’ve had an excellent holiday. The advice from Willie was particularly useful and the welcome pack was very welcome as our flight was delayed and we didn’t arrive until 10:30pm. The walk to the viewpoint from Col de Mela near L’Ospedale, was good, except that visibility was about 100 yards! The sun was shining when we returned of course. The Torréen site just up the road, Casteddu d’Arraggiu, is well worth visiting, but the half hour walk from the car park (at this end of the village) is steep and tough. Take boots and water. The site at Cucuruzzu is also is also well worth visiting and audio guides in English can be hired. We took a boat trip from Bonifacio to the coastal sights nearby which we would also recommend. The road trip up the main road to Solenzara and back through the mountains via Col de Bavella, with stop-offs, makes an excellent day trip. We walked to the Trou de la Bombe but beat a hasty retreat as the cloud closed in and it started raining! All in all, a very nice week; a pity we have to go back. We will miss our breakfasts on the terrace.Mr Keeling - September 2012
A truly special week at Mon Cabanon. The location, the décor, the views… all just perfect! We certainly did enjoy a couple of visits from the friendly tortoise. Some recommendations – the rock pools/cascades down the road (small track from second lay-by down), well worth a visit. The left fork in the track allows access to the larger and better pool. We found Palombaggia beach slightly disappointing, but Tamaricciu beach (slightly further along the coast heading south) was excellent. Walks – Tower III (Punta di a Vacca) from Col de Bavella. Spectacular route from the Col, following the alpine variant of the GR20. Mostly very rough, challenging terrain with some scrambling and a section of chains to descend. Seemingly endless walk back down valley on main GR20 path. Highly recommended route. 6hrs15. Monte Incudine – long walk in to refuge from Prugna, then tough climb to summit ridge. A lengthy excursion (approx. 9 hours in total) but worth it for stunning views from the top and a 2000m peak in the bag! Trou de la Bombe from Col de Bavella. Pleasant walk through forest to reach the ‘bomb hole’, a spectacular feature in the rock. Tricky scramble up to the hole itself, 2hrs 30. Punta di a Vacca Morta – started from Col de Mela, nr Ospedale. Very rewarding shorter walk, fascinating rock formations and trees around the summit plateau. Great views from the summit cross. Sad to be leaving this lovely little cabin, but thankfully we’ve got another week on the island, at A Casarella near Bonifacio. If that is half as nice as Mon Cabanon we’ll be perfectly happy! Have a wonderful stay here.Mr Brewster - September 2012
We had the most wonderful, romantic honeymoon here at Mon Cabanon – we are only sad that we’re not staying longer. The beautiful views and total silence made for a wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle of London – one night we were treated to an amazing lightening display across the whole vista as a storm raged through the mountains. We hope to be able to come back to celebrate an anniversary at some point, in the meantime I’ve been inspired to give embroidery a go to emulate some of Florence’s beautiful creations.Ms Fairhurst - September 2012
I think everything about Mon Cabanon has already been said! It’s a great little place and we’ve really enjoyed ourselves. The weather has mostly been superb although we did have a torrential storm that started on Monday evening and lasted through until Wednesday. Apparently they’ve never had rain like it before and Freddie’s cellar was flooded 2 inches! We found some lovely beaches and the sea was a beautiful turquoise. Perfect! Would recommend the Bonifacio boat trip, a day in the mountains and canyoning. By the way, the hospital is in Porto Vecchio, just near L’Eclerc supermarket, if you manage to dislocate your finger as I did! Just down the road (second large layby after you leave Mon Cabanon on the main road) scramble down the slope and you will find some amazing rock pools. Worth a visit. Now back to the pool with a bottle of Rosé.Mr Adcock - August 2012
What a lovely retreat away from the hustle and bustle of normal life – we have thoroughly enjoyed the silence and tranquillity of Mon Cabanon. It has been extremely hot everyday so most days we read and made use of the pool until the afternoon – all the recommended sights such as L’Ospedale; Col de Bavella; following the River Cavu from Sainte Lucie to find rock pools; the local beaches (which we found very busy even in the early evening); Porto Vecchio and Bonifacio – including the 1 hour boat trip was a highlight. Slightly different excursions we made were to the horse racing (2pm Sundays) at Hippodrome de Viseo (just beyond Zonza). This was good fun with ponies and traps as well as flat racing and well-supported by local people who obviously know the riders. The Megalithes de Cauria – standing stones – were interesting to see – there is a short circular tour which takes you past 2 sites and it is our intention to visit the larger site ‘Alignements de Palaggiu’ before returning home from Figari airport. We thoroughly enjoyed a day trip to Bastia – roads were slow apart from the short section of dual carriageway – a rarity on the island! An easy-to- follow map and route takes you round the old town and harbour and up to the citadel was free at the tourist office in St Nicolas Square. (There’s a large underground car park at the square). We wandered back through the town centre which had a ‘pleasant feel’ about it. Florence and Freddie have created a delightful holiday home which I hope you will enjoy too. They are lovely to talk to and very patient whilst we were trying to remember our French verbs.Mrs Howes - August 2012
Our first visit to Corsica and the destination of our dream honeymoon. The instant we saw Mon Cabanon on Simpson’s website we fell in love with it, and knew we had to go! The reality has lived up to our dream and we’ve had a magical time relaxing in the shade (too hot at 35? in the sun!), dipping in the pool, driving through the mountains and exploring the amazing beaches. Our patrons, Freddy and Florence have created such a beautiful atmosphere here with the creativity and planting of our surroundings, it was enough to stay here soaking up the tranquillity, but on the days we went exploring our trip past Solenzara, and up past the Col de Bavella, round past Zonza was breath-taking, and swimming in clear rock pools was superb. We also took a road trip to Cucuruzzu to see the Neolithic remains. Our favourite beach was Tamaricciu past Palombaggia which was stunning, soft, white clean sand, crystal clear water, excellent for snorkelling. St. Giulia was very shallow but beautiful, but St. Ciprianu was full of children’s activities and noisy. Rondinara was full of boats and the sand and sea cluttered with seaweed. The first boat to the Lavezzi islands for half a day was a highlight, snorkelling in the crystal clear turquoise water was unforgettable. As was our trip to Bonifacio where we took a boat around the grottos and saw the city from sea level. Both the interior with its pretty villages like Levie, Zonza and Sartenè are utterly charming, and the coastal beauty of the beaches make it clearly ‘the Seychelles of the Med’ as some Swiss people we met described it. Remarkably few English voices heard around the island which is surprising and a pleasant change. My little spoken French was enough to get around and make friends with Freddy, our patron. Thanks also to Liz and Willie, our Simpson reps who were helpful and friendly, and gave us some good tips, it was nice to know they were there should we need them. All told truly a dream trip, and the beginning of our Corsican love affair. Bon Voyage!Mr Young - July 2012
This was our fifth visit to Corsica. First time in this lovely villa. Mon Cabanon is such a pretty and comfortable place to stay. The pool is very relaxing at the end of the day… especially as the water warmed up during the week. We celebrated the Queen’s Jubilee in style on Tuesday 6th June with Jo (Simpson’s chef) cooking a surprise meal for my husband. If anyone wants a special meal, I could really recommend booking her. Also agree with previous visitors comments about fresh fruit at the new shop called ‘A Muredda’. Thank you to the owners for making our stay so special. We hope all the guests who are here for the rest of the season have a super holiday and we hope to return in 2013.Mrs Hinkins - June 2012
This has been our second trip to Corsica and to Mon Cabanon and both the island and the accommodation are as delightful as we remembered. You probably wouldn’t be staying here without planning a trip to L’Ospedale Forest, but just in case you hadn’t, don’t let it pass you by – lovely views and plenty of places to stop and take photos and picnic. If you’ve got the energy, a hike to the top at Punta di a Vacca Morta is well worth the effort. Try to do it on a clear day to take advantage of the views. You’ll be spoilt for choice when deciding which beach to visit but our favourites were Grande Sperone towards Bonifacio (keep walking over the headland and through part of the golf course to get to the best bit), and Tamaricciu at the southern end of Palombaggia. The latter isn’t marked on many maps but you can spot it on the Porto Vecchio map from the Tourist office which is in the Simpson folder. Finally for fresh fruit and Corsican treats we recommend the new shop called A Muredda, opposite the boulangerie in the Palavesa road, it had the best strawberries and nectarines we’ve tasted in years. We hope all the guests arriving after us have as lovely a time as we had and thanks to the owners for creating and sharing this lovely spot in which to relax.Ms Bones - May 2012

If you do not have a passport, it is recommended to apply at least 6 weeks before your holiday. Passports should be valid for 6 months after your return date.
Our prices are based on our lowest contracted fare. Occasionally it may be necessary to purchase flights outside of our normal allocation and in these circumstances we may need to charge an additional supplement to reflect the extra costs incurred. This will also be the case if we are booking flights from regional airports or on flights where we do not have a seat allocation. If a supplement applies, this will be advised to you at the time of booking.

API (ADDITIONAL PASSENGER INFORMATION)
Most countries require that the airline take additional information from each passenger such as full name, date and place of birth, passport number, country of issue and expiry date. You will need to provide this information at the time of booking or, at the very latest, prior to release of your travel documents. You are able to complete the details online via Manage My Booking or call a member of our Pre-Departure team.

In the event of a flight delay, whenever possible we will ensure that the airline/operator communicates the reasons for and extent of any delay and implements appropriate standards of welfare provision. EU carriers should also comply with EU Regulation 261/2004 in the event of delays, cancellations or denied boarding and guidance is provided on the CAA’s website www.caa.co.uk

The category of car included in the basic holiday price will vary according to the number of people in your party. We do not consider infants as part of the total party size. The cars we have included offer comfortable seating for the size of party travelling, however, we do ask you to take into account the size of the boot space for your luggage if any infants are in your party, and the number of child and baby seats required. You may wish to upgrade your car to give you extra comfort and space. Availability and supplements for upgrading will be advised at the time of booking. For transporting extra luggage it is also possible to pre-book a taxi at additional cost.

ACCOMMODATION AND USEFUL INFORMATION
Air-conditioning and heating
We have indicated in the property descriptions which accommodation has air-conditioning included in the holiday price. Heating is available in some of our properties during the low season weeks, which is normally included in the holiday price.
Animals and wildlife
As in all rural communities, indigenous animals are an essential part of the way of life. The braying of a donkey, crow of a cockerel or the barking of a dog is not a complaint that receives much sympathy from the locals! Care should be taken to minimise the presence of insects and animals in your accommodation. Keep surfaces clean, dispose of refuse regularly and ensure that food is not left uncovered. Cats and dogs are often resident where an owner or manager lives on the property. If you are allergic to cats and/or dogs please ensure that you check the suitability of your chosen accommodation with us prior to confirming your booking.
We have specified if a barbecue is available at your accommodation. Please note that often in summer, due to the hot weather, use of your barbecue may not be allowed and/or strict rules for its use may apply. The local or national government reserves the right to introduce new rulings at any time, often with little prior notice, prohibiting the use of barbecues to reduce the risk of fires. Where a barbecue is not provided, it is usually because the surroundings are considered a fire risk or inappropriate for the use of barbecues.
We provide Simpson Travel beach/pool towels in all our self-catering properties and these are normally laundered weekly.
Please note that a double bed could be two single beds placed together. If you are booking a hotel room, please let us know your room preference (double or twin). Although we will make every effort to convey your request to the hotel, we cannot guarantee your preference will be available.
Check-in and check-out
You will usually be able to occupy your villa or apartment after 5pm and you should vacate it on the day of departure between 9am and 11am. Please refer to specific property details for exact times. Most of our hotels follow common practice with regard to check-in and check-out times (around midday); however some have later check-in times between 3pm and 5pm. Please refer to the individual property information for timings.
Self-catering accommodation is clean on your arrival and for two week stays it will be cleaned mid-holiday. The mid-holiday clean includes bathroom, kitchen surfaces, floor sweeping and change of bed and bath linen. If additional or more frequent cleaning is required, this can be arranged locally with our representative at an additional cost.
Distances and timings
Please note that all walking and driving times stated are approximate estimates only. Transfer times are also approximate estimates only and do not include any waiting time.
Hotel bookings with half-board include dinner, which is usually a fixed menu with or without a choice of dishes. In some hotels, you may take your half-board meal at lunchtime.
Health and safety
Simpson Travel is committed to raising the standards of health and safety throughout all our destinations. Our guests’ safety and wellbeing is of the highest importance to us. However, please note that since many of our properties are private homes, it is not always possible to meet the same exacting standards as in the UK. In your accommodation we will provide any necessary health and safety information. We ask you to familiarise yourself with this information and the property on arrival, particularly when travelling with children, and to raise any concerns with your local representative.
In some properties a baby monitor has been provided and to the best of our knowledge it is operating correctly but it is vital that you check regularly that the device is operating to your satisfaction. We strongly advise against relying on the baby monitor in case of malfunction. Simpson Travel cannot be held liable for any malfunction of the baby monitor and the use of the device is entirely at your own risk.
Internet access and wifi
Internet access and wifi is available when stated in the relevant accommodation description details. Please note there may be restrictions with the availability and speed of the service transmitted by the local provider and technical issues may cause temporary withdrawal of internet facilities. Linen and laundry
Bed and bathroom linen is provided weekly. For your convenience some of our properties have a washing machine.
Noise and building works
Traffic, farm work, roadwork, animals and other sounds form part of everyday life, however, what constitutes ‘noise’ to one person may not be a problem for another. Please let us know if you have any special needs regarding this. Occasionally, building work is unavoidable as we do not control such work and may not know about it in advance. Whenever possible, we will notify you of any work that we believe may affect your holiday.
Only guests named on your invoice are entitled to occupy the accommodation.
We cannot guarantee that a full selection of satellite channels will be available. Channels in English may be very limited and these are often only CNN or BBC World.
Some facilities are subject to weather conditions and the general season, for example swimming pools, restaurant terraces and courtyards, pool bars, local restaurants, and they may be limited or unavailable at the beginning or end of the season. Please do not hesitate to check with us, should a particular facility be a necessity to you.
Swimming pool details are given on our website. Pool dimensions are approximate only and, unless specified otherwise, pools are freshwater and unheated. Dates when pools are operational are subject to the prevailing weather conditions at the time of opening and closing and we cannot be held responsible if poor weather means the pool is opened later, or is closed earlier in the season.
Upon arrival at your accommodation, we kindly ask you to acquaint yourselves with the pool’s safety and hygiene rules. All our pools in Corsica and mainland France comply with French law and are fitted with one of the following forms of security: fence, alarm or cover. Please check the property details page for the specific security measure that applies to your selected property. Some pools are ‘infinity pools’ which have an exposed pool edge with an unprotected drop. This maximises views and is an attractive feature of the pool. We recommend that you do not sit, lean or walk on the unprotected edge. Children must be supervised at all times.
Pool heating is a service that can be provided on a weekly basis in select properties. The cost varies according to size of pool from £100 to £200 per week. As a general rule pool heating will only bring the pool temperature up by approximately 10 degrees higher than the night time temperature. As such in early or late season you may still consider the pool temperature to be too cold despite heating. We regret that should this be the case Simpson Travel, our local agents and owners cannot refund monies paid for this facility.
Whilst the owners or staff of some properties may live on site and tend to the grounds, they are aware that you value your privacy, and will do their best not to intrude. We do ask you, however, to allow them reasonable access to the property so that they can maintain the grounds and keep them in good order.
