Located to the north of Porto Vecchio, Aléria is the main town of the Costa Serena, famed for ancient remains and a handsome Genoese fort. There have been villas on this site since Roman times, and it’s testament to the quiet beauty of this coast that Aléria is still regarded as a luxury holiday destination. The other great luxury in this central part of Corsica are the oysters which thrive in the Étang de Diane and draw foodie holiday makers from all over the island to eat in the local restaurants.
A villa holiday on the Costa Serena will suit you if you want to get to know more of Corsica than its beaches. The local villages are proud of their wine production and other regional food specialities, so it’s easy to stock up on unusual local delicacies and savour an authentic Corsican feast poolside back at your private villa.
