Kedros is one of the beautiful new Cedar Bay Villas, three very stylish properties located directly on the pale golden sands of Grammeno Beach close to the village of Kountoura. The architect’s vision was to create the blueprint for the perfect contemporary beach house, combining modern comfort and design with the timeless pleasure of sun-warmed sand between the toes. It goes without saying that the sea views are splendid; rather more unexpected is the private swimming pool for each immaculate villa.

Kountoura has a couple of tavernas with one on the beach serving delicious local seafood for lunch or dinner and also ideal for a glass of something ice-cold at sunset. The beach snack bar will deliver drinks and light lunches direct to your villa or to your designated sunbeds on the beach.

Enchanting Paleochora with its old town of pretty pathways and narrow streets is just five minutes away by car. From the port you can take boat trips along the south coast to Loutro. Or, explore the area, including the herb-scented Anidri gorge and the wild, rugged beauty of the Grammeno peninsula itself, which has a couple of wonderful small sandy coves and the feeling of being on the road less travelled.

Although Kedros is in close proximity to Lithos and Ammos next door, it has been cleverly designed to offer a reasonable degree of privacy.

Cedar Bay Beachside Villas are exclusive to couples or adults. However, if all three villas are booked together by one party in July or August then children would be most welcome. All three villas taken taken together will sleep up to ten.

Customer feedback

Wonderful place. Everyone has been so helpful and indeed efficient. We thank them all, particularly Maria. We hope to return.
Sue & Richard – October 2019

Third visit to Cedar Bay. As every delightful. Maria is a treasure and so helpful. A great place to relax.
Keith – September 2019

We have been using Simpson for our holidays for several years now and have never been disappointed with the service, the care and knowledge of the representatives both at home and in resort and the quality and locations of the villas we have stayed in. Now we're so spoilt it's difficult to even look at other travel companies (not that we would). This year was a vintage year – absolutely perfect in every way.
Sue & Les – September 2019

Fifth time with Simpson Travel, third time to Crete (same accommodation), this says it all really. Absolutely first class travel company, excellent organisation and planning, logistics and quality accommodation. Some might argue that Simpson is on the expensive side, however, you get what you pay for. We look forward to booking with Simpson again.
Carl Harvey – August 2019

Our annual visit to Crete has, as ever, been wonderful. Having visited since 2007 this is the first time staying on the south coast. The villa, the setting and local town has been very relaxing. Local tavernas are good. Many thanks to Maria, Simpson and all at the beach bar for making the stay just that bit special. Sorry to be leaving but still have a week in Kapsaliana and a week in Chania to go.
C&C – August 2019

We came back! Our second stay in Kedros and it did not disappoint. Another fantastic week in a beautiful villa with everything you could wish for close at hand. Thank you to Klaudia for organising our boat trip to Loutro, a visit well worth making a fantastic opportunity to see the Cretan coastline and swim in clear blue waters. We ate at every place within walking distance and were never disappointed. Also a visit to Castro for dinner at sundown is well worth it. Thank you to all of the staff at Ammos and it was lovely to be welcoming back by Stelios and Eleni! We will be back.
Ian & Rachel – August 2019

Third visit and still as wonderful! Thank you to everyone – hugely appreciated.
Jim & Lindy – July 2019

We have had a special time here. We managed to extract ourselves from the villa and its surrounds for two amazing days out to Sougia and the Samaria Gorge which we are definitely feeling the after effects today! We have eaten locally and we enjoyed Casto. All the restaurants here on Grammeno bay were excellent too. Our grateful thanks to Klaudia for always being there and responding to any query immediately. Also to Maris and her husband and the team at Kedros – thanks for proving everything we always needed and more.
Jackie & Simon – July 2019

Very relaxing, beautiful location, no need or want to leave.
Mrs Loftus – June 2019

The villa is excellent, the location fantastic and Maria the perfect host. We have had a wonderful week.
David & Jean – May 2019

This has been our first trip to Crete and our first experience of Simpson Travel. Both have exceeded our expectations. The villa has been fabulous and a perfect base for exploring this beautiful and unspoilt part of Crete. Thanks to all who have made it such a place of great memories.
Tim & Sue – May 2019

Our second visit (third booked!) to this wonderful place!
Anne Jones – October 2018

This was our second stay at Cedar Bay Beachside Villas. Last time we stayed in Ammos, but we chose Kedros this time for the chance to see the sunrise from our room and it didn’t disappoint! We had a lovely time again. The villa is in the perfect place, the beach, the pool, the beach bar, the short drive to tow...plus of course the people involved in everything. Our thanks to them. We drove over the mountains to Elafonisi (the pink beach). The drive is not for the faint hearted and we drove back the long way. It was nice to see some of the countryside but the ‘pink beach’ is not as nice as the beach at the villas! We hope to return.
Jayne & Carl – August 2018

This was our fourth holiday with Simpson Travel and our second at Cedar Bay Villas in Crete. By travelling with Simpson, you are guaranteed a superb holiday experience, no stone is left un-turned in providing you with great memories. We love the location – right on the beach, and the standard of accommodation is very high. We look forward to returning in the future.
Carl Harvey – August 2018

This was our first stay on the south coast and we adored the relaxed ambience. The highlights of our stay were the Milia mountain retreat with its fabulous food and the drive to Sougia. We also went on a wine tour that was great. Margaret at Villa Kedros is lovely and we so enjoyed our chats about Crete.
Tim & Kirstin – August 2018

This was our first visit to Crete and Grammeno Bay, but certainly not our last. The location is perfect, but as we were only there for a week, we didn’t venture far, nor did we need to. Sundowners at the beach bar are a must. Thank you to Maria and Margaret, who looked after us so well and to Klaudia the Simpson Travel representative, for all the information. You could run out of superlatives to describe the place. It was simply perfect, and we will be back.
Ian & Rachel – July 2018

Another great week in Grammeno Bay. This was our second year at Cedar Bay Beachside Villas and our third holiday at this end of the island…and we’ll keep coming back. Altogether a very relaxing and enjoyable week at Villa Kedros.
John & Vicki – July 2018

This was our second visit to Villa Kedros. The villa is well-equipped, in a lovely location right on the beach. It’s very clean and comfortable – especially the beds! This time we stayed for two weeks and got out and about much more. We drove to Sougia – a lovely quiet village with a great beach. The nearby monastery is worth a visit. All in all, we had a great time – lovely villa, great weather, wine and food. Thanks to Maria for a great villa, to Margaret who is a very helpful source of local knowledge (great wine tour – recommended) and to all at Simpson Travel.
Jon & Cathy Bache – June 2018

Kedros is an amazing villa. Everything is clean and what you want for a holiday. We enjoyed the peace and quiet. Maria, the owner, gave us good advice and a big ‘thank you’ to Margaret who is a mine of information and to Klaudia, the Simpson Travel representative. We didn’t go too far, but we did visit Elafonisi beach and on one day drove up into the mountains to the start of the Samaria Gorge. We stopped in Anidri for lunch at the Old School House – lots of vegetarian food. We decided to leave a day early to visit Chania and have a night in a hotel there. We also visited the Commonwealth war memorial graves just outside Souda. Thank you to all for making our visit so restful.
Mavis & Trevor – May 2018

This was our second visit. Kedros is a beautiful villa in the perfect location and it is clean and well-equipped. We spent most of our time relaxing but there are two trips worth doing. Driving into the mountains to Sougia via Anidri – magnificent scenery, lots of goats and wild flowers. Beautiful. We also travelled north west to take in the mountain villages around Voutas – again, a stunning drive. Paleochora is as good as ever, a great place to explore with many good bars and restaurants. Thanks to Margaret for looking after us, she did a great job and has excellent knowledge of Cretan wines. Thanks also to Klaudia, the Simpson Travel representative, for her help and advice.
A Woodhouse – May 2018

If you are looking for a relaxing holiday whilst staying somewhere luxurious then I would definitely recommend Simpson Travel. The villa was exactly as it looked on the website which was wonderful. From the initial booking all the way through to when we returned from our holiday the Simpson Travel staff were fantastic both in the UK and in Crete. An unforgettable holiday and we shall most definitely use the company again.
Miss Sharma – September 2017

Simpson Travel seem to know what people on holiday want and all aspects of a great experience were covered.
Mr Darby – October 2016

Our choice of Greek properties is as diverse as the islands themselves, ranging from simple seaside charm to genuine luxury and style. Much of our portfolio is privately owned, and price alone is therefore not a universal guide. We contract all our accommodation in person, and each property has its individual appeal. To help you make the right choice based on your own priorities, we have devised a simple grading guide to be considered in conjunction with each individual property description, awarding up to a maximum of five stars for the below categories.

The soaring White Mountains, known in Greek as the Lefka Ori, are at the heart of West Crete’s dramatically beautiful landscape and the villages in their foothills offer traditional Cretan fare in glorious abundance – that’s if Chania’s twinkling harbour lights and waterfront dining don’t entice you first. Spring brings an abundance of flowers, turning hiking trails and gorges into welcome destinations for walkers, and in summer, the many beaches offer sun worshippers a choice of scenic locations to spread their towels.
