- Striking hilltop house
- Stylish and spacious
- Charming Corsican village
- Panoramic sea views
- Restaurant 3-minute walk
- Beach and Île Rousse 10-minute drive
With its privileged location and distant sea views, Casa Santa Maria enjoys the best of both worlds – a village setting amongst the Balagne hills yet a location just five kilometres from the town centre and sandy beaches of Ile Rousse and three kilometres from Monticello, another traditional Corsican village.
Within the village of Santa Reparata you have a choice of three restaurants, five bars and a number of shops including the self-proclaimed ‘smallest grocery in the world’. Follow your curiosity and take a stroll up into the more remote corners where time has eroded some of the ancient buildings and swifts swoop and chatter overhead. You can pick up the walking trails to Pigna from here or wend your way upwards to hilltop Sant’Antonino, which dates back to the 9th century. Both sit on the Route des Artisans with its arts and crafts workshops and array of local produce for tasting and taking home. For wine buffs, there are also two vineyards within eight miles of the villa, plus the popular Route des Vins, which passes through fashionable Lumio, a picturesque village with sandy beaches nearby and impressive views across the Golfe de Calvi. The nearest Michelin-star restaurant is in Salti in Regino, about a 20-minute drive away and next to a nine-hole golf course.
Stay in July and you’ll also have the pleasure of the annual Festivoce, Pigna’s international music festival, which offers a full programme of events, including concerts and performances in the streets, baroque churches, chapels and squares, all just a 15-minute drive away.

We have loved every minute of our stay in Casa Santa Maria – a beautiful, peaceful villa, plus as a bonus the delicious smell of the lady baking biscuits across the road! This has been our first visit to Corsica and we have found the scenery truly breath-taking. We managed the walk from the village over the old mule trail to Pigna – magnificent views and well worth the aching legs. We also loved the train journey from Ile Rousse to Calvi and of course the visit to St Antonino – wow!! A big thank you to Debbie – a credit to the Simpson Travel team who not only pointed us in the right direction of what to see but went the extra mile. I am sure we will be coming back to Corsica and hopefully for two weeks next time! We are going to miss the red kites circling round everyday – magnificent to see these amazing birds.
Barbara & John – September 2018
We had a lovely week in beautiful Casa Santa Maria. Both the restaurants in Santa Reparata were very friendly and had good food. The villages in the countryside are a must – not only are they spectacular, but they have the most superb views – from the mountains to the unspoilt views of the bay. The star of the show was Sant' Antonino, a beautiful village at the top of a mountain. Another city that was one of our favourites was Calvi. The port was filled to the brim with super yachts. We will be back.
Shar, Alexander, Anamika & Jim – July 2018
We didn’t want to leave! Casa Santa Maria is an amazing house in a great location. Debbie, the Simpson Travel representative’s local knowledge is invaluable. We will return to Corsica.
Rich, Victoria, Kooks, William & Harry – July 2018
It was bliss to sit on the terrace of Casa Santa Maria with the swifts/martins swooping around and a red kite hovering feet away. It was lovely to be up and away from the touristy resorts in a real working village. A luxurious villa on a beautiful island and the combination of wild green mountains and azure sea is just stunning. The early unsettled weather encouraged us to explore the other hilltop villages and drive over to Corte. Then some beach weather at Calvi and Ghjunchitu was the icing on the cake. But perhaps best of all was the walk over to Sant'Antonino – wonderful flowers, birds and butterflies and extraordinary 360° views out to the Blue Mountains, as far as the eye can see.
Peggy – June 2018
Casa Santa Maria is an excellent property situated in a delightful position amongst the lovely villages of the Balagne area. The village of Santa-Reparata-di-Balagna is unspoilt by tourists and yet has a couple of restaurants, a bakery and a grocery store. Driving or walking to nearby villages was enhanced by the fantastic views all around. L'Île-Rousse, Calvi and beautiful beaches were not far away.
Ms Turner – June 2018
This was our second visit to Casa Santa Maria and we had the most magical two weeks despite some unsettled weather. We walked from the house up the hill to the pretty village of Pigna – the views from the top of the hill are breath-taking. We also really enjoyed exploring Sant'Antonino. We have been coming to L'Île-Rousse for the last five years and we always head to the Parc de Saleccia. There is a play area for children and a café. In terms of beaches, we loved Ghjunchitu – beautiful clear water and a beautiful sandy beach.
The Stacey Family – May 2018
Claire, Mike, James & Rowan – October 2017
We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in Casa Santa Maria. The weather has been glorious and we had many enjoyable sightseeing trips. The restaurants we dined at all served very delicious food. Debbie, the Simpson Travel representative for this area, has been so helpful and efficient. She went out of her way to make sure we had a terrific holiday. We have rented villas around the Mediterranean for the last 25 years or so and we have not had anyone who has been so thoughtful. Thank you!
The Cunningham & Elliott Families – August 2017
James and Paula – July 2017
Enjoyed the villa, weather and the beaches. Very relaxing holiday. Watching the Bastille Day fireworks from the balcony was an added bonus.
Julie, John & Anne – July 2017
The Smith Family – July 2017
We had a fantastic week staying at Casa Santa Maria! Plunge pools are worth a visit, the scenery is spectacular. Calvi beach is just about perfect if you have small children, the sea is shallow and there are plenty of fish for them to see. We do not normally visit the same place twice on our holiday but I think we will have to make an exception for Corsica!
The Drake and Yexley Families – June 2017
Mr Bartop – May 2017
Our family of four – two adults and two teen/adult boys – had a fantastic time in Santa Reparata, Corsica. The location and accommodation were outstanding and we would love to return again and explore the island further.
Mrs Wain – October 2015
Eight of us had a wonderful stay at Casa Santa Maria. We were delighted with our overall holiday experience from the initial contact with Simpson Travel to the departure from the Island. The standard of hospitality and quality of the food we experienced at all the restaurants was amazing. Corsica is a gem of an island, so beautiful and unspoiled, certainly deserving of another holiday!
Mrs Upham – October 2015
Great village, wonderful villa. Have had a super time, thanks for everything.
Mrs Sheridan – September 2015
We decided a little late in the year to take a family holiday. Granny, couple with baby and couple without. The search filters on the Simpson Travel website made it easy to find a suitable property to suit everyone and our local rep, Debbie, was clearly both knowledgeable and passionate about Corsica. Our old house was a beautiful example of how to update without losing character and we loved relaxing around the courtyard pool. The provision of beach/pool towels was appreciated and the Simpson folder was a useful to guide to the locality. I would definitely use Simpson Travel again.
Mrs Balti – August 2015
This was our first time in Corsica and have loved it. Casa Santa Maria is a beautiful villa with lovely furniture and stunning views. Thank you to Debbie for all her fantastic advice. A brilliant holiday.
Mrs Barnett – August 2015
A lovely week in a special village. Beautiful country, friendly people.
Mr Wilkinson – July 2015
Casa Santa Maria is a gem. It is the best of both worlds – peaceful in its hilltop village setting yet close enough to get to the bustling and lively town of Ile Rousse. The house is beautifully decorated, with everything you might need to make your holiday perfect. Wonderful bathrooms, glorious views from the balconies and totally unique. The area is fabulous – plenty to explore and do and the most amazing choice of restaurants to enjoy. We will be back! Highly recommended and good value.
Mr Eadie – July 2014
Casa Santa Maria is a beautifully restored large villa with wonderful views of Ile Rousse and across to Cap Corse in a lovely village setting. It feels like a boutique hotel! Each bedroom has its own individual balcony to appreciate the views, listen to the church bells, watch the ferries in the harbour and the birds pf prey flying overhead. We appreciated the lift which was useful for suitcases and carrying wine up to enjoy the sunsets! The sunrise over Cap Corse was equally beautiful (even without the wine!). The pool was large and deep enough to keep three teenagers amused and had a shallow end for younger children. The little chapel across the road is now open to the public and all you have to do is go in and admire it – someone else opens and closes it. A week was not long enough and we will definitely be back!
Mrs Lockie – June 2014
The villa is beyond words, we were all speechless when we arrived. It is beautiful and wonderfully unique. Debbie was a great help and her insight was very valuable. Our absolute favourite was just enjoying the view from the veranda and drinking in this beautiful part of God's creation. Thank you very much.
Mr and Mrs Parish – September 2013
Wonderful location – variety of walks (of all severities) along with unspoiled beaches and villages has made this a most memorable and restful holiday.
The Jenkins Family – July 2013
A first and very memorable visit to Corsica, not least down to staying in this exquisite house! Casa Santa Maria has provided sheer luxury, engaging views, our own chapel and truly 'home from home' comfort. Thank you.
Mr and Mrs Casserly – July 2013
This was our first time in Corsica. The villa was wonderful and sunset drinks on the balcony were beautiful. Each room and the whole house has character along with luxury. Many thanks and we hope to come back again soon.
Mr and Mrs Epstein – May 2013
First time in Corsica, loved it, stunning scenery. Wish we had been able to stay longer. Rounded off with excellent accommodation. Compliments to the owner. Thanks to Debbie for all the info she gave us.
Mr and Mrs McGurk – September 2012
I have fallen in love with Corsica. I will be very sorry to leave but will be back to explore even more of this spectacular island. This house is lovely and in a lovely setting in an unspoiled village.
Dr and Mrs Mead – September 2012
The spiral staircase in this villa is something of a masterpiece but sadly I used the lift 99% of the time owing to our choice of the top floor bedroom with its spectacular views – the owner has done a marvellous job with the renovation, retaining many original features whilst installing, for example, three ‘state-of-the-art’ bathrooms. The village is in a marvellous position twixt sea and mountains and remains less of a tourist venue than some of the more well-known Balagne hot spots. There are some excellent footpaths – the one starting just above the village/villa that takes you to St Antonio is relatively undemanding. The little shops in Santa Reparata will keep you well supplied if you are self-catering most of the time and purchasing biscuits from the lady in her shop opposite Casa Santa Maria is a must. Ile Rousse is a better option for dining than anything on offer in the village. For all future visitors – have a wonderful time.
Mr and Mrs Godley – September 2012
Corsica’s outstanding beauty has exceeded our expectations – enjoyed exploring beaches and the coastline and the rattling little train. Our favourite beach has to be Bodri – not only does it have a simple, charming beach café – but you can walk over the headland and explore rock pools. Look out for the wild boar pelts drying on posts around the hilltop roads! The low swoops of the red kites in the morning have been a highlight – enjoyed a wonderful classical guitar concert in the heart of the village backstreets. Only just discovered ‘le petit epicerie’, a few minutes walk away – please give it a go – great selection of local fruit/veg, etc. – bakery very good indeed, just near to hotel.
Mr Shearsby – July 2012
A great place, loved the restaurants and the pool, swimming every day! Debbie has been a great help! Telling us all the best places to go and we had loads of fun doing it and going there! We sunbathed every day and we loved doing it! We’ve tanned a lot. The view was amazing, we could see the sea and everything!
From Sophie (aged 9), Emily (aged 12), Tara (aged 4), Mr and Mrs Bromet – July 2012
A wonderful first stay in Corsica which won’t be our last; enhanced by the suggestions from Debbie for visits and a very comfortable house. Our favourite visit was a challenging drive to Porto (Galleria beautiful) and St Florent – stunning. Wine we liked – Domaine Colombu – rosé as it should be, and Ribbe Rosse, Domaine Renucci Vignola White (very unusual); all thanks to Debbie for pointing us there. However most of all it is the nature, the scenery, the red kites each day, and the swifts nurturing their new fledglings to first flights.
Sir & Lady Oldham – June 2012
Our choice of Corsican properties is as diverse as the island itself, ranging from simple seaside charm to genuine luxury and style. Much of our portfolio is privately owned, and price alone is therefore not a universal guide. We contract all our accommodation in person, and each property has its individual appeal. To help you make the right choice based on your own priorities, we have devised a simple grading guide to be considered in conjunction with each individual property description, awarding up to a maximum of five stars for the below categories.
* For further clarification on Facilities and Amenities, please view the 'Details' tab for each property or speak to one of our experienced sales consultants.
With fishermen mending their nets by the harbour, Calvi’s maritime heritage remains intact. However, the town has gained a new lease of life in the cafés and bars along Quai Landry, linking the marina and the port, with stretches of beach beyond.
Inland, the unspoilt beauty of The Balagne tells a different story of mountain wildernesses and the island's unspoilt and uniquely fragrant maquis. Follow the Route des Artisans through terracotta-tiled hilltop villages, overlooking a landscape of forests and mountains, and you’ll also find that an excellent glass of local wine is never far away.
