Villas
The Kaya Valley is one of the loveliest and most atmospheric spots in which to holiday in south west Turkey: a skyline of dense pine forests and rough rocky outcrops, gradually softening to wild meadows of poppy and the farmed fields below.
At its heart, the mysterious and fascinating Kayaköy: the deserted 'Village of Rock'. Completing this picture-postcard panorama for holidays in the Kaya Valley: the azure waters of Gemiler beach way down below, and the iconic lagoon and sands of Ölüdeniz itself – arguably the jewel in crown of the Turquoise Coast.
Holidays in the Kaya Valley with Simpson Travel
Whether soaking up the peace and solitude of this truly idyllic dale or enjoying the beaches and buzz of Fethiye Town, villas in the Kaya Valley provide a comfortable stay.
Holidays normally include car hire and Kaya Valley is worth exploring. Kayaköy, the abandoned Greek town that still clings to the hillside, is a must: cobbled paths and an old mule track wind through a vale of ghosts and roofless houses, birds and wild herbs, sobering but immensely peaceful. Once called Karmylassos then Levissi, this is where Louis de Bernières set his historical prequel to 'Captain Corelli's Mandolin', the engaging ‘Birds Without Wings’, which culminates with the Greek-Turkish population exchanges of the 1920s.
