the charming whitewashed town of Medina Sidonia.
The great Moorish cities of Andalucía never fail to capture the imagination of even the most jaded of travellers. Seville is the jewel in their crown, refined yet boisterous, mysterious and yet ostentatious, demure but still evocative. Seville is at its busiest during April, when the orange trees are ripe with juicy fruit and the streets are bustling with beautiful Sevillanas in their Flamenco dresses, enjoying the vitality of a city dedicated to their fiestas.
Córdoba bursts into life during the Festival of Los Patios, a fun-filled fiesta, which is celebrated in early May, when the flower-decked patios in the narrow streets around the 8th century Mezquita are open to visitors.
But perhaps the greatest legacy left by the Moors, is the extraordinary, stunningly beautiful Alhambra Palace in Granada , overlooking the city. The labyrinthine cobbled streets of the old Albaicín quarter cling to the hillside opposite, where jasmine-scented patios hide behind the high walls of old Moorish houses, some of which have been converted into delightful small hotels. The snow-capped mountains of the Sierra Nevada make a stunning backdrop to the city and are ideal for walking from spring to autumn and skiing in the winter.
