Climate With its enviable temperate climate and all year round sunshine, Morocco makes a wonderful destination for both winter and summer breaks. A rich diverse scenery of mountains, forests, seascapes and desert means that Morocco’s climate varies greatly depending when and where you travelling. The spring and the autumn months are the most attractive times to visit the cities of Marrakech and Fès. Marrakech enjoys a dry climate with low rainfall (an average of 50 days of rain a year) and makes a wonderful winter sun destination, even in the cooler winter months. The average winter monthly temperature is generally above 17C in daytime, but in winter there is a wide difference between temperatures during the day and at night. In the summer months temperatures can easily soar up to 40C or more, although just outside of Marrakech in the Atlas Mountains, temperatures are a few degrees cooler. The coastal resort of Essaouira is pleasantly warm all year round, maintaining a constant temperature of around 20C, which is cooled by the Atlantic breezes in the summer months. The coastal resort of Agadir also enjoys bright skies and warm sunshine year round, and with its large 7km sandy beach, is perfect for some winter sunshine to escape the bleak skies of a Northern European winter. For those looking to explore the deep south and Sahara desert areas, the best months to travel are from October to April, and whilst unbroken sunshine can’t be guaranteed, the skies are generally clear and bright and temperatures between 25C – 30C. However, in the desert temperatures can drop dramatically at night, due to the lack of humidity, so always be prepared with some warm clothing.
