Paxos is exquisite, a superlative spot to simply rest, relax and recharge batteries depleted by day-to-day life. Yet despite its obvious natural attractions and enviable selection of private villas, this island has precious few hotels.
As the name suggests, Purple Apricot presents a rather irreverent take on the standard hotel style, refreshingly unconventional and aimed at those who value individuality and personal service. Each suite is an eclectic one-off; bohemian, flamboyant and a touch exotic, all individually styled by designer Jaxx Russell Flint, who lives on the island for part of the year and understands perfectly Paxos' laid-back appeal.
The emphasis is on rich colours and textures both inside and out, a vibrant tapestry to fire all the senses. At the heart of the hotel is the swimming pool with delightful sea views and a comfortable relaxation area festooned with bright floor cushions and adorned with Eastern-inspired tables, lanterns and candles as day melts into dusk. Breakfast is served under a silvery canopy of trees and the gardens are subtly landscaped to create private spaces for rest and contemplation. Yet however relaxed the atmosphere, the Simpson standards are maintained, thanks to our own concierge who personally oversees the running of the hotel.
By combining exciting new design with our traditional hallmarks of warmth, friendliness and unobtrusive professionalism, Purple Apricot has proved a very successful addition to our Simpson Hotel portfolio: our own collection of hotels with soul and a passion for personal service, regardless of star rating. We’ve had a fabulous week in Paxos. Still retaining its charm and authenticity, despite the many new builds going up across the island. So many unspoilt beaches to discover and the sea is glorious! We have used the hire car daily and feel that, even in our short stay, we got to see so much that Paxos has to offer. Anti Paxos was a highlight and our boat skipper took us into the Blue Caves on the journey back. Also, the walk to Tripitos Arch was well worth doing. Thank you to our hosts, Lionel and Aline. Delicious breakfasts and tip-top advice on where to eat locally. We will be recommending Purple Apricot!
Bendigedig! [Welsh for fantastic!] Purple Apricot is bliss, heaven on earth. It far exceeded our expectations in every way. This is due to the care and attention lavished on us by Aline and Lionel. Absolutely everything was perfection and the island of Paxos is a gem.
A blissful week. Special thanks to Aline and Lionel for all their help with bookings and the splendid breakfasts. We shopped for simple basics and ate ‘at home’ several times – the peace and quiet is so seductive. We hope to return and stay again – utterly gorgeous! Our second visit in two years to Purple Apricot. Paxos, the island, is always beautiful, filled with lovely beaches, tavernas and good food. But Lionel and Aline are the most important constant. We have had a glorious, relaxed week with perfect weather on this lovely island. Our highlights were a boat trip around Paxos and Anti Paxos and a walk to Tripitos Arch. Too much lovely food! Our first time to Greece! And what a beautiful discovery this is. We had no idea we were going to be so beautifully looked after by Lionel and Aline – exemplary care indeed! Homeward bound to tell the pugs what fun we had! We will be back to beautiful Paxos.

Lionel and Aline have been just fantastic – nothing too much trouble and the breakfasts fantastic. Also, thank you to the ladies for keeping our room spotless and restocking us. Wonderful addition having the fresh water – saves having to carry bottles back from the supermarket.

A wonderful but all too brief stay at Purple Apricot. Medina was ideal for our needs and Aline and Lionel were great hosts. Recommendations include Averto (best restaurant though not a typical taverna), boat hire from Pappas in Lakka, beaches on Anti Paxos and the walk up to Bella Vista is well worth it! We will return!
We had a fabulous stay at the Purple Apricot Hotel, made even more enjoyable by the hosts. Every day we were offered a different beautifully presented breakfast while we sat under the olive trees in the garden. As a small hotel, it provided a more intimate setting, and we enjoyed meeting our other guests and swapping tips on which beach or taverna to try the next day. With a large pool and plenty of sunbeds, there was room for everyone, and the honesty bar was a lovely touch. Although not on the coast, we had views of the sea and were a short distance from beaches and towns. Would definitely recommend a stay here for a relaxing break away from it all.
Perfect quiet location, a car is definitely required to reach the coast and other parts of the very small island. Aline and Lionel were exceptional.

We had a fantastic holiday at the Purple Apricot. The hotel is so relaxing and friendly. Lionel and Aline were very attentive and knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfasts were delicious and varied and eaten on a lovely shady terrace in the gardens. Having a water dispenser at the hotel was a great idea and perhaps one that should be extended to more of your hotels, saving on plastic waste. The honesty bar was very well stocked with plenty of ice available. We used Lionel and Aline’s recommendations for all our restaurants in the evenings and didn’t have a bad meal once. They are an asset to the hotel as are the whole team at Purple Apricot. Thank you for a lovely holiday.
Purple Apricot Hotel is a lovely, peaceful oasis in the centre of this beautiful island, providing a select number of strikingly decorated suites and a lovely pool, with a good honesty bar facility and within a few minutes drive of all the key villages and beaches. The wonderful husband and wife concierge couple are very welcoming and friendly and provide a great breakfast service. They were an invaluable source of suggestions for activities and restaurants on the island and made everyone feel right at home from day one.

We had a lovely time at the Purple Apricot mainly due to the excellent all round service of Aline and Lionel. Aline provided an amazing freshly made breakfast every morning and it was served impeccably by Lionel. Nothing was too much trouble for them, they had strong knowledge of Paxos and provided lovely restaurant recommendations and made reservations on our behalf. The customer service was exemplary and they are a real asset to Simpson Travel.

The staff at the Purple Apricot, namely Lionel and Aline, were fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Aline's breakfast menus were excellent, as was the quality of what she produced. They definitely added to the enjoyment of our holiday in making things so easy and pleasant. The two local cleaning ladies were also very charming and were always prompt with their cleaning regime. A great place to stay.
Lionel and Aline were brilliant, so personable and efficient. Nothing was too much trouble - we booked boat hire, restaurants and taxis through Lionel and his knowledge and recommendations were useful and accurate. Breakfasts, cooked by Aline, were an absolute joy. Together they made a great team. A word on the location: the views might be a little far from the coast but the central location, generally 10-15 mins from everywhere, was perfect, and the one local taverna (an easy walk down, a more challenging walk back) was lovely.

We’ve had a wonderful stay at Purple Apricot – our first to both hotel and Paxos – neither have disappointed. It’s not every day that one comes across a place like this. The island, the people, our lovely hosts, Lionel and Aline, and this beautiful hotel – along with the delightful and enjoyable mix of fellow guests. The place and the moment is one to savour. Like the food in the lovely restaurant down the hill – it’s a hidden gem, welcoming, nourishing and never disappointing. From the cats in the yard by the pool to the collared dove that arrives promptly (cooing) at 17:30 each day – every little aspect fits naturally into a deliciously simple and rejuvenating environment. We have enjoyed every minute of it. Feel alternately blessed and spoilt – appreciative, rested and joyful.
What a beautiful hotel and what great hosts! Wonderful breakfasts and Lionel is the best concierge we’ve ever come across. It is a mistake to start your day without having him, organise your beach shade and dinner!

Our first trip abroad since 2019 after the COVID lockdowns could not have gone better. We've used Simpson in the past and are always impressed by the quality of accommodation and the locations. Our hosts at the Purple Apricot also made a huge difference to our stay, Aline and Lionel are a real asset to Simpson, from the warm welcome, great breakfasts, and local knowledge. Little touches make the difference, from the thoughtful adaption of breakfasts to taking account of Lucy's dairy intolerance, to the nice card and bottle of bubbly we were surprised with upon mentioning that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary.
Fantastic stay – will highly recommend. Aline and Lionel have been wonderful hosts. Lovely breakfasts and always so helpful in every way. A great team. Great and varied food around the island but our highlight was having a boat to tour around the island to swim off the boat to inaccessible beaches except by boat. Fabulous!
We have had a lovely week! Lionel and Aline have been the perfect hosts, cooking the most delicious breakfasts and looking after our every need. They gave us restaurant recommendations – all of which were very good. Anti Paxos is a must – we took the water taxi from Gaios. Spent a lovely hour drinking in the taverna on the beach before walking on the road up to Bella Vista (or you can take the 200 steps up!) for a great lunch with amazing views. Many tasty meals at Thymari just down the hill, Lakka watching the boats from Fanis Bar, a fab meal at Akis restaurant on the water’s edge. We’ve always wanted to stay in the beautiful Purple Apricot as so many other Simpson travellers have talked so highly of it. It did not disappoint. We had a magical week in stunning surroundings. Our wonderful hosts made our stay especially special. We rented a boat for the day from Loggos and thoroughly enjoyed it. We are so sad to leave but will most definitely return.

Although only staying 3 nights, we felt relaxed and started winding down on the ferry trip from Corfu to Paxos. Paxos weaved its magic and the Purple Apricot did not disappoint! All the transfers were super easy, the Simpsons staff are very efficient and put their guests at ease. Aline and Lionel were charming and so willing to ensure you have a special holiday. They deserve 5 stars for hospitality!

Paxos is such an unspoiled, wonderful place to be and the Purple Apricot hotel, a lovely fusion of charm and beauty, a speciality of Simpson’s holiday properties. The hosts, Aline and Lionel, really care about service, ensuring your holiday is relaxed & happy. Aline provided delicious and beautifully presented breakfasts, enough to sustain one through the day, til dinner at any of the many excellent tavernas. The fireflies were the magical added bonus.
The whole Simpson experience was fantastic from start to finish. We stayed at The Purple Apricot hotel and it was a delightful place to stay. Thanks for a fabulous time in Paxos. The Purple Apricot hotel is gorgeous – the perfect mix of plenty of space in our suite plus relaxing 'common' areas by the pool and under the trees. We liked that it's a small hotel and felt more like staying in a luxury-hosted villa. Very relaxing break to recharge and regroup after a difficault year. Our first time using a travel company and the experience took alot of the hassle out of travelling especially with multiple transfers. Having been on other Simpson holidays the bar was high. This visit to the Purple Apricot raised it even higher. Everything about the property was of the highest standard, the room, pool, garden, were of the highest quality, however it is the staff that really made it. Both Lionel and his wife, Aline, together with their two assistants were outstanding, starting with our welcome at the port, their preparation for the guest, their knowledge of the island and everything that went with it and their catering for our every whim. They really were outstanding. This was something we have only experienced in top class hotels and that achieve with an army of staff. My wife and I have no hesitation in recommending this Simpson property (and the island) as the perfect destination for complete relaxation; very classy.

We had a great week in Medina, thank you to all the Purple Apricot team. Aline and Lionel made us feel at home straight away and the breakfasts were delicious. We got to see all the island and explored most of the beaches. Kipos and Marmari were our favourites.
This was our second time to the Purple Apricot hotel. It was just as good as before and exactly the relaxing stay we needed after a the dreadful couple of years we’ve all been through. Friendly and helpful staff and the hotel itself is a little piece of paradise in the Ionian Sea. I’m sure we will return and hopefully bring our family with us next time.

We have travelled with Simpson before, and so when faced with pandemic restrictions, we had no hesitation in picking them again as we knew we could rely on their professionalism and quality and we were not disappointed. We had a sunny and warm 10-day stay in Paxos last week, combining three days at the lovely Purple Apricot Hotel hosted by David and Steph followed by a week at the nearby Secret Garden villa. The Simpsons and their staff know how to make your holiday both comfortable but also run smoothly. We have no hesitation in recommending them.

Our first visit to Paxos and we leave feeling relaxed and refreshed having spent a week on this beautiful island. We have been delighted by Purple Apricot, not least because of the kindness and care provided by David and Steph, who really are marvellous hosts. From the moment we stepped off the hydrofoil at the port feeling very hot and tired, we knew we were in good hands and this continued all week.

Purple Apricot is very well situated and beautifully appointed. The hotel’s managers, David and Steph, were extremely helpful, knowledgeable of their locale and charming. Purple Apricot is a joy. Apart from the great facilities and position, the care and support provided by the representatives, Stephanie and David Cowley, was outstanding throughout – the phrase 'beyond the call of duty' is often overused but certainly not in their case. Simpson should be proud of their example. Their judgement was just right at all times. One should add that the whole process of both journeys, which required complex transfers and ferries, were handled by Simpson representatives effectively.

The accommodation has been carefully and thoughtfully set out and each room decorated with attention to detail. The breakfast prepared by Steph was a reason to get up each morning and David and she offered an excellent service. Nothing was too much trouble. Paxos is an easy island to drive round but we made the most of Purple Apricot and never really ventured very far. Why would we?

What differentiated Simpson Travel from other holiday companies was the care and friendliness of the Simpson Travel personnel and especially the attention to detail that was shown. It might not sound significant but it makes all the difference. When choosing staff for overseas locations Simpson Travel must take special care in choosing the people and this shows when they are interfacing with guests. The organisational abilities were second to none and we never came across a problem with our multiple cars, water taxis and ferries. There was always someone from Simpson to guide us on our way. Also the locations that Simpson Travel has managed to find tick all the boxes for seasoned travellers.
If you want a get-away-from-it-all spot, it's got to be Purple Apricot! Big rooms, stunning position, and the flexibility of doing your own self-catering rather than eating out every meal.
Paxos is a wonderful island and Purple Apricot provides the perfect location from which to enjoy and explore this jewel. It is convenient to everywhere and a joy to return to at the end of a day spent discovering the sleepy harbours, rugged coastline, dramatic scenery and a wealth of friendly tavernas. We enjoyed several peaceful walks surrounded by olive groves, dipping down to white pebbled beaches and climbing up to historic windmills. In the words of Phil Collins "just another day in paradise".

Simpson Travel were exceptional from start to finish. The holiday booking was quick and painless and actually made talking to a person on the phone, how lovely! When we arrived in Paxos, we were greeted by Steph, who was the host at the hotel. Our car hire was ready and waiting, no paperwork to fill in, this had all been taken care of before. The hotel is perfect. David and Steph were fantastic hosts and cooked the most delicious breakfast each morning. The hotel is tranquil, a beautiful pool area, lovely sunbeds and towels – a little oasis. Our room, Purple Rain, was simply stunning. This was our second trip with Simpson Travel and staying at Purple Apricot and would 100% recommend it. We will be back!
Our expectations of a repeated excellent experience at Purple Apricot were well and truly met by David (great advice) and Steph (great food) who were both keen to make sure we were happy with everything within their control. Our friends found the whole holiday as delightful as we'd told them it would be, so another successful Simpson Travel holiday in the bag! A lovely stay at Purple Apricot enhanced by David and Step’s great hospitability and breakfast cooking! Paxos – a lovely unspoilt corner of Greece. We would love to come back. We can recommend taking a boat all around the island and swimming in a quiet cove. We moored at Mongonissi beach for lunch at the taverna. Great walks too.
Simpson travel offers a fabulous service and well-researched accommodation. Paxos is a beautiful island, and Purple Apricot is a very special hotel – comfortable and peaceful. The trip exceeded my already high expectations. I travelled with my 22-year-old daughter – we both loved it, and plan to return to Paxos next year with the rest of the family.
