GK Beach Hotel is ideally situated on a sandy beach with plenty of well spaced sun loungers, it is also a short walk from Kalyves town centre, where there are numerous tavernas and bars to suit all tastes and pockets, we preferred the family run taverna just past the Synka supermarket on the left. Sitting on the terrace overlooking the beach, enjoying traditional home cooked Greek cuisine, at a very reasonable price… what more could you ask for? Ariadni and Sarah at the Simpson hotel could not have been more accommodating, always at hand for any problems big or small, a credit to your company.. Who needs the Caribbean when you have a hotel like GK in a truly heavenly location! The white mountains backdrop is spectacular. The beach is never crowded and the sun beds are freely available. There are beautiful wild flowers growing in the sand that looked like white daffodils. The sunrise in the morning is spectacular so do not miss! Arise from those comfy beds at 6 45 ( late August) and you will be blessed with a wonderful sight of the sun rising up from the sea. We spent a wonderful 7-day family holiday here in the GK Beach Hotel. We went to the beach nearly every day, and it was great that we could pop back and forward from the lovely pool to the sea! Ariadni, Sarah and the whole team were amazing and were always there to help with anything you needed. The food at the pool bar was delicious and we loved the fact that there was so many traditional and home-made foods on offer. Our personal favourite meal by the pool was the chicken souvlaki. You are never bored and there were always many fun activities on offer, including the fun and friendly Kids Club with many great crafting activities to have some time out of the sun. We enjoyed every day here, but we can all agree that our favourite day was our day at the Waterpark. We had an amazing, knowledgeable and chatty transfer driver. We would definitely recommend the waterpark! We enjoyed every moment of our stay and hope future room No.1 guests do too.

This was my first visit to Greece and I came with my two children. We stayed at GK Beach Hotel in Greece and it was an amazing experience from start to finish. Our accommodation was perfect, with sea views, the hotels size was ideal as it was never too crowded. The pool was lovely and there was always a sun lounger available. The beach was at our doorstep which was also perfect and was never really too crowded even at the weekend. The food at the restaurant was AMAZING, everything tasted so good. As for the hospitality and service from all the staff... it was excellent, they couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating if they tried. A wonderful 10 days spent at GK Beach. Every little last detail is thought of, you couldn’t ask for more. All the staff are extremely friendly and always happy to help in any way they can, nothing is too much trouble. Fantastic display at breakfast, so much to choose from and all so fresh. The short walk to Kalyves is highly recommended. The trip to Arosmari at Vamos for the concert was a very traditional evening with food and drink including fantastic local musicians. Rethymnon and Chani are lovely in the evening, busy ‘old town’ parts with many small cobbled streets to explore.

We found the GK suites perfect for our needs. We didn't hire a car as we were only there for one week. The concierge team booked taxis for us, as and when needed. Restaurants recommended were all excellent. We liked the fact that we could walk to a taverna in an evening plus a well stocked supermarket a 5 minute walk away. The staff could not have been more helpful. The suite was kept spotless each day. There was no jostling for sun beds by the pool or on the beach which was much appreciated. The only thing we missed was the restaurant being open for evening meals, but there was a good choice of alternative restaurants within an easy 15-20 minute walk. GK Beach Hotel was our first Simpson Travel hotel holiday. We had previously only used Simpson Travel for villa holidays, so we were a little nervous. Very knowledgeable staff when initially enquiring on suitability of various locations. With a child with additional needs, we required a quiet place with few steps and were offered detailed descriptions of each available space. Really helped us to make an informed decision. The rep that met us at the airport was friendly and helpful, as were the hire car company who speedily swapped cars when it was noticed there was an issue with the fuel cap. On our return to the airport, we were met again by the helpful rep and car company. The rep even waited until we had our luggage safely through before leaving us. Our stay at the chosen hotel was good, quiet and as expected. Lucky to have the pool almost to ourselves. Will be booking again for next year.

We stayed at GK Beach for a couple of weeks at the tail end of September/October. The hotel is run brilliantly: from the afternoon we arrived when we were met by Evie and her team, and throughout the whole fortnight, the whole staff were exceptional – polite, knowledgeable, and approachable – and the whole experience so memorable. The location of the hotel allows for quiet time by the sea, or a short walk along the coast to the nearest town, or a 20-minute drive to Chania – all so accessible. Thoroughly recommended.

Easy booking process, useful pre-holiday information provided by e-mail. Very impressed by welcome at airport and taxi transfer on arrival; after an early start and slight delay the ease of finding the rep and cool drinks were very welcome. Hotel was ideal, exactly as we’d hoped. As a coeliac that has to follow a gluten-free diet, I was particularly pleased to find assurances given on booking that the hotel could cater for me to be very well founded. There was even gluten-free beer and cornettos – a real treat! And the chef had been on a course about catering for coeliacs so I could eat without any concerns. Both my son and I had a wonderful holiday full of very happy memories – thank you!

This was our first experience of Simpson and my wife and I are really pleased. Everything worked smoothly. The staff were very friendly and helpful and they all deserve commendation. The rooms were great and having our own kitchen gave us more flexibility for making tea and light lunches if we didn't want to go to the bar. The bathroom was a tad snug but really no problem and it certainly wouldn't stop me coming back. The beach and pool areas were great. Location was excellent – we liked that there was a supermarket close by and we could walk into Kalyves. Ray and Evie really knew their stuff about the area and recommended a good drive for us in our hire car on a rainy day. I also saw Ray handing out local walks to another guest – what a nice idea. Overall a really great holiday and I hope we'll be using you again in 2019. Thank you!

GK Beach hotel provides excellent, friendly service in a delightful quiet location. It is set in beautiful gardens leading to the beach where sun loungers and parasols are provided. There’s a large swimming pool with easy access steps and also a small paddling pool. The generous breakfast menu includes everything from hot dishes to fruit and delicious local yoghurt and honey. The restaurant has an excellent choice of dishes which are available for lunch and in the evening. We have visited GK many times and we look forward to our next.

Everyone at the GK Beach was so hospitable and friendly. The staff made my younger daughter especially welcome, and as it was her first time abroad, that was really appreciated. Everyone went out of their way to look after us so well. Clean spacious rooms, a masseur on site and a sparkling clean pool yet just a few steps to the beach. There is an excellent restaurant on site, but it’s also only a short stroll to Kalives and even nearer to the supermarket. It has everything. We spent most of our time there, but did hop on the convenient public coach to Chania. I’d highly recommend this hotel.

GK Beach Hotel is a little piece of paradise. It is small enough to be intimate and friendly but with excellent facilities, clean, modern rooms and beautifully kept outside spaces. All the time we were there, there wasn't one single episode of grumpiness or impatience from any of the staff. They are outstanding and a real asset to the hotel. They were so friendly and cheery and always went the extra mile with good spirits and a smile. Just lovely. The owners greeted us daily and were always charming and cheerful. The Simpson Travel reps were very helpful and friendly and had very good knowledge of the area and were happy to arrange everything from taxis to excursions to any extras we required in our rooms. Good-sized, fluffy beach towels is a real bonus as they take up a lot of room in your suitcase if you have to bring them from home. The hotel room we stayed in was clean and modern with very good facilities. The balcony looked out over the sea and gardens. It was lovely to sit and watch the sunrise. The bed was really comfortable with good supportive pillows and good bed linen. There were tea and coffee making facilities, a hairdryer, an iron and ironing board and a good fridge. Fruit and a bottle of cold water was in our room for us when we arrived. The bar was very well stocked including a good selection of local wine. It was open until late. The restaurant served really good food all day with specials, which could be pre-ordered, until last orders at 9.30 pm. The food was delicious, really well cooked, good-sized portions and nicely presented. Compliments to the chef/s. Breakfast was continental buffet style with a very good selection of cereals, pastries, fruits, cheese, meats, salads, eggs, omelettes, bacon, sausages, etc. The sourdough bread was fresh every morning, soft and sweet with a good crispy crust. Hot food was not served every day but there was always a good selection. The owners keep bees in the mountains and the honey from these bees, which gather pollen from the thyme, was simply the best honey I've ever tasted. Drizzled over the lovely, creamy Greek yoghurt was a morning feast. In addition there was good quality Cretan ground coffee in a proper coffee pot enabling you to make it just as you like it. The freshly squeezed orange juice was also delicious. The private beach added to our enjoyment. It was kept clean and tidy, there were complimentary sunbeds and umbrellas and restaurant service was available right to your sunbed. It wasn't overcrowded and the sea was beautifully clear. I haven't really got anything negative to say about GK Beach Hotel. A real testament to it is the number of returning guests, several had been there many times and I very much doubt that it will be our last trip.

Listen, part of me is loath to give these comments because I'd prefer GK Beach to be a secret that is shared only by those of us fortunate enough to have stayed there. But I have to give a massive 'hats off' to Simpson Travel. This is a wonderful place. If you want personable and personal service, a low key, informal atmosphere, high standards of cleanliness and attention to detail everywhere, fantastic food, stunning sunrises and sunsets, clean sand and warm seas, then this is the place to come. If you want stuffiness, formality and fawning servitude, then steer clear. This is a place where the people who work there are warm, genuine, natural and treat everyone as an individual – and I mean all the staff, from the gardener/bag handler/beach cleaner, through to the cleaning staff, the bar and restaurant staff, the chefs, the owners and the Simpson Travel reps. Hush – don't tell anyone!

The gardens surrounding the hotel are beautiful and well maintained. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food is delicious, highly recommend the moussaka. The rooms are light and airy, clean and comfortable. Having a car which Simpson Travel arranged for us was a good idea to get about to explore the island – Crete is a beautiful island with lots to see and do. This hotel is a brilliant base to explore from, or if you love a beach holiday with lots of relaxation, it caters for that too as there is a lovely beach just outside your door.

We had a lovely relaxing week in June. The hotel is on a nice stretch of beach, easy entry into the sea which gets deep quite quickly for swimming. Always plenty of sunbeds on the beach and drinks from the bar brought to you. Good selection of light meals available in the shade beside the beach. Huge pool with good steps and handrail into the water and again lots of comfortable sunbeds. The beds were also very comfortable, best we have ever had in Greece! All the very friendly staff were excellent. Highly recommended.
