Corsica Community Conservation

An integral part of the Simpson Philosophy is “to work in harmony with local communities, to respect their culture, tradition and environment”. So we have decided to support a number of charitable conservation and environmental causes as part of our business practice. In each country we feature, Simpson Travel has pledged a pound per passenger to support projects which, working with the local community, we think will help to protect and enhance the area’s heritage. Friends of Conservation

Two such organisations committed to keeping Corsica special and which we are pleased to be supporting are:

  • L’association pour une Fondation de Corse. Set up by Jean-Francois Bernardini of the well-known musical group I Muvrini, this organisation hopes to raise enough funds to gain the status of a Foundation and support and promote individuals and collectives in all fields, which will advance the well being of Corsica, its people and their culture. • U Polpu, an organisation striving to educate children and adults to respect the seas and its species, whilst raising awareness in general of issues related to the Mediterranean Sea and the potential risks it faces.

Friends of Conservation

You too can help, by ‘offsetting’ the harmful emissions of your flight!

Simpson Travel is pleased to support Friends of Conservation (FOC). Founded in 1982 to help prevent wildlife and habitat degradation in East Africa, FOC has expanded to cover projects around the world, including not only wildlife, but also the local communities whose lives are entwined with the wildlife and habitats they work to protect.

It is generally acknowledged that human activity, including travel, is leading to “global warming”. The dramatic release of carbon from burning fossil fuels and from clearing vegetation has led to a 31% increase in concentrations of atmospheric carbon dioxide compared to pre-industrial concentration.

Flying is the most carbon intensive way to travel. Aviation at present accounts for 3% of greenhouse gases and generates nearly as much carbon dioxide in one year as the total population of Africa. Moreover air travel is growing faster than any other form of transport.

Donate Now – Equalise Your Carbon Emissions
If you would like to help “offset” some of the effects of your journey then you can do so by supporting FOC projects that either extract carbon dioxide from the atmosphere or reduce harmful emissions entering the atmosphere. Please visit www.foc-uk.com to see how to donate and become a member, or telephone 020 7603 5024. The carbon offset schemes can be found on their website under: www.foc-uk.com/carbonoffsetprojects.asp
