Corsica Car Hire Information

Most of our holidays include an air-conditioned hire car which will be arranged for collection at and return to the airport. Touring by car is the ideal way to discover the island. Our car hire agents in Corsica are Avis and the category of car included in the basic holiday price will vary according to the number of people in your party (see below). Please note that we do not consider infants as part of the total party size. The cars we have included offer comfortable seating for the size of party travelling. We do however ask you to take into account the size of the boot space for your luggage and if any infants will be in your party. You may wish to upgrade your car to give you extra comfort and space for your luggage. Availability and supplements for upgrading will be advised at the time of booking.

Two main drivers. Please note that drivers must be 21 years of age (no maximum age limit applies) and hold a British/EU Driver’s Licence or International Driver’s Licence, held for at least a year. You will not be able to hire a car without your original, valid Driver’s Licence.

We have negotiated for our guests a special insurance, which reduces to nil the excess you would normally be required to pay, should your car be damaged or stolen.

Important information:
Please note – the insurance with or without the excess will NOT cover:

the loss of or damage to car keys (and costs incurred due to this, for example towing and replacement keys, etc.)
undercarriage and roof of vehicle (you should not drive off-road)
undercarriage and roof of vehicle (you should not drive off-road)
any damage, loss, accident, theft, attempted theft, etc, caused by your own negligence, for example, driving under the influence of alcohol, unlawful driving, driving off-road, using wrong type of fuel, unlocked doors, apparent personal effects, car left unlocked, etc
theft of personal belongings
cost of call-out for repairing or replacing tyres, wheels,windscreens and windows
seats and boot shelf

Credit Card deposit
Avis will require you to lodge a credit card deposit when you collect your car. This will be debited should you:

return your car without a full tank of petrol
return your car requiring extra cleaning
return your car after the intended day and time as booked through us (max 4 hour delay allowed)
be required to make any payment (excess or other) as outlined above

Child seats
Child and baby seats can be provided if booked at least two weeks prior to your departure. They are charged at £18 each regardless of length of time (or €28 payable in Corsica, if you book once there). Please remember to specify the age and size of the child.
Please note that Avis staff members do not install the child seats and as style and installation may differ to those in the UK, you may prefer to bring your own child seat for your own peace of mind.

Transfers for bookings without car hire
Bookings at Hotel la Villa, Hotel Balanéa, U Fornu. Le Maria Venezia and Hotel Santa Maria do not include car hire. Return taxi transfers from Calvi airport to your accommodation will be provided. Please be advised that for the apartments U Fornu and Le Maria Venezia, the nature of their location means that the taxi driver cannot leave you at the front door.

We do recommend hiring a car for at least part of your stay and you may do so for a minimum of three days at the prices specified, which only apply if you book through us before you travel. Higher rates apply if booked through Avis once in Corsica.

U Fornu and Hotel Balanéa guests will be able to pick up their hire car from the Avis office in Calvi centre
Cars for Hotel la Villa guests can be delivered to the hotel
Le Maria Venezia and Hotel Santa Maria guests will be able to collect their car at the Avis office in Île Rousse centre (closed Sunday and Saturday afternoon).

Please note that collection on a Sunday must take place at Calvi

Please note that a fee of €60 will be payable to Avis in resort for cars returned to a different location (bookings of 2 to 6 days only).
