Walking Holidays in Corsica
Corsica must be a walker’s paradise!
Walks in Corsica range from easy rambling to serious climbing and
every resort will offer quite a choice.
The Parc Naturel Régional de la Corse has made great efforts over the past few years to improve and maintain the walking paths and their attractions, creating better access and information.
The two main long distance trails (5 to 15 days) are the GR20 and the Mare e Monti (Sea and Mountains) and the main five peaks of Corsica can be reached with reasonable, to considerable experience. For easier walks, there are many inter-village trails (sentiers du pays), as well as scenic headland walks, which usually lead to a Genoese tower well worth visiting. Many paths lead to some of Corsica’s most stunning lakes, rivers and waterfalls and even to beaches and coves, which would otherwise be inaccessible, except by boat.
Many of our properties in Corsica are well situated for walkers,
some with tracks starting on their doorstep, so please do not hesitate
to ask our Travel Consultants for suggestions.
Corsica Watersports
Most holiday resorts in Corsica will offer some watersports facilities,
such as windsurfing, diving, sailing and boat hire depending on
location and local weather patterns. Most harbour towns usually
also offer the possibility of chartering a yacht with or without
a crew. With its pristine water and varied, spectacular shores,
Corsica is a popular destination for watersports lovers.
Golfing in Corsica
Corsica is home to the renowned Robert Trent-Jones-designed 18-hole golf course at Sperone, near Bonifacio. This stunning course was voted as one of the best courses in France and its hole no. 16 has been voted amongst one of the 500 best holes in the world. All our properties in and around Bonifacio make good bases for the golf course.
In the North, a charmingly rustic and convivial nine-hole golf course
nestles amongst olive trees in the Reginu countryside and it’s
just a walk through the grounds of one of our lovely villas, Le Moulin
de Reginu.
Canyoning and Mountain Climbing
in Corsica
Not surprisingly, extreme mountain sports enthusiasts will be at home in Corsica. Mountain climbers find good climbing around the Ospedale and Bavella peaks as well as the Restonica Valley. Canyoning is also available when mountain rivers are flowing sufficiently.
Corsica Horse Riding
Friendly stables, offering scenic horse rides are dotted around
the countryside in most resorts, namely in Monticello near Ile Rousse,
Porto Vecchio, Campo Moro as well as near Saint Florent.
