Family holidays in Corsica for tots, teens and in between
While it entices adults with its glamorous coastline, cosmopolitan towns and swathes of unspoilt landscape, Corsica has plenty of magic up its sleeves for the under 18s too. In fact, this child-friendly French island, just a two-hour flight away, is a playground for all ages. Mix and match our suggestions for each age group and there will be a little something for everyone.
FOR THE FUN-LOVING UNDER 10s
Make sandcastles on Palombaggia beach in the south. The sea is calm, clear and shallow and there are plenty of restaurants for refuelling.
Meet the 3,000 tortoises and turtles at the A Cupulatta sanctuary near Propriano. It’s dedicated to studying breeds from around the world.
Head out onto the water in a glass-bottomed boat and visit the fascinating Scandola marine nature reserve from Porto and Calvi in the north.
FOR THE TRICKY TWEENS, 10-12
Saddle up a donkey and go trekking in the Maquis near Pinarello. For parents, there is plenty of culture and pretty little hamlets en route.
Take the Trinicellu between Calvi and L’Ile Rousee. There are up to ten trips a day in both directions, stopping at all the best beaches and crossing the Vecchio viaduct.
Snorkel your way through the wild nature reserve around Iles Lavezzi. Book a catamaran cruise to explore the vibrant marine life further out to sea.
FOR THE COOL-CONSCIOUS TEENS, 13-18
Try out the water sports at Santa Giulia beach in the south. Head boredom off at the pass with waterskiing, kayaks, funboards and surfing.
Dive for reefs and wrecks from Calvi and L’Ile Rousse. Beginners and advanced divers alike will find much to marvel at, from WW2 bombers to lost ships.
Go bouldering in Zonza. As well as pine forest walks through the mountains, those with more energy to burn can go vertical with a spot of climbing.
