Spain and Morocco - A Moorish journey
  • Córdoba
  • Granada
  • Seville
  • Fès
  • Meknes
  • Rabat
  • Marrakech

In the 8th century invading Muslim Berbers began the creation of a great kingdom in southern Spain – Andalucía. A prosperous, religiously tolerant and highly cultured society developed, which was to last for seven centuries. Although the Moorish leaders were finally expelled by the conquering Christians, they left behind a magnificent legacy.

Their memory is still enshrined in Seville’s Moorish minaret – the Giralda Tower – in the magical gardens of the Alcázar Palace, in the unparalleled beauty of the Mezquita in Córdoba and in the architectural splendour of the Alhambra in Granada. Fortunately these great artistic and creative skills found there way back to the Imperial Cities, when the Muslims and the Jews returned to Morocco. The great palaces, mosques, merdersas (Koranic schools) and riads of Fès, Meknes, Rabat and Marrakech echo with the splendours that were first created in ‘Al Andalus’.

We have created a unique historical journey, which takes you from the fascinating Moorish cities of Andalucía across to the intriguing Imperial Cities of Morocco.

This unique historical journey links the magnificent Moorish cities of Granada, Córdoba and Seville with the Imperial Cities of Fès, Meknes, Rabat and Marrakech.

We can arrange accommodation in a selection of charming guesthouses and riads in both countries, which reflect the same architecture and style, the legacy left behind by the Moors.

Itineraries can be arranged for any length of stay, although we recommend that you stay at least 10 nights or ideally 14 nights. Travel is by British Airways* flights into Andalucía, and out of Morocco, with connecting hydrofoil crossing from Tarifa in Spain, to Tangier in Morocco.
*flights operated by Easy Jet
