Our office hours are 9.00am – 5.30pm from Monday to Friday and 10.00am – 2pm on Saturdays (during certain periods our hours will be extended to 4pm). If these hours are not convenient to you, we will endeavour to call you at a more suitable time. Please note that the office will be closed on Sundays, statutory Bank Holidays and from 1.00pm on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. A member of our specialist team will check the availability and dates of your selected accommodation and discuss your requirements with you. In order to secure the property of your choice, we advise you to book as early as possible. Riads and hotels in Morocco are particularly busy between October to mid November, over Christmas and the New Year and then again from mid February to mid May. Hotels by the sea in Essaouira and Agadir are especially busy during July and August school holidays and again during the warm winter months. It is therefore advisable to book as far in advance as possible and to have an alternative choice of property. Placing an option In most circumstances we can check flights and ‘hold off’ seats, but only for a 24-hour period. We can also check hotel or riad availability but can only confirm accommodation once a definite booking has been made and a deposit paid. Checklist for making a booking To enable us to assist you efficiently, please have the following details ready when you call us:
In order to confirm your booking a deposit of £125 per person is required plus the full cost of your flight tickets (if applicable) and this deposit is non-refundable, (if you are booking a riad for private use, the deposit will be 50% of the total cost). Furthermore, at this stage we also need to take payment if you take out our travel insurance. Unless specifically requested, we do not issue a receipt for deposit payments. This will be shown on your confirmation invoice, normally sent to you within 7 days of receipt of the deposit. The balance payment for your holiday must be paid at least 8 weeks prior to your departure (or at the time of booking your holiday if your departure date is within this period). The date this payment is due will be on your confirmation invoice. Please be advised that we do not issue reminders for this payment We accept most debit cards (Maestro, Switch and Delta), personal cheques and credit cards (MasterCard, Visa & American Express*). All payments made by credit card will be subject to a 2% charge, reflecting our incurred costs (*except payments made by American Express, which are subject to a 3% charge). For payments by cheque, please make cheques payable to Simpson Travel and remember to write the booking reference number on the back. If you are sending a cheque, we will request your debit/credit card details as security to hold the reservation, until receipt of payment. The cheque should reach us within 5 working days at 46 Sheen Lane, East Sheen, London, SW14 8LP. Final documentation Your travel documents, including your airline tickets, car hire voucher, driving directions (if applicable) and itinerary will be sent to you at least two weeks prior to your departure. Please check them thoroughly and advise us immediately if there are any discrepancies Single-centre holidays Take the '3 night' price applicable to your first stay (based on the departure date from the UK), then add to this, all subsequent 'extra nights' at the same hotels at the rate, based on the date of stay at the relevant hotel. Please be advised that some hotels require a minimum stay during certain periods, particularly Christmas, New Year and French and UK public holidays. Multi-centre holidays Please contact us for a tailor-made quote for all twin-centre or multi-centre holidays, as prices will vary according to your chosen mode of transport between properties - either by chauffeur-driven car, taxi transfer, train or self-drive car. Single room prices Accommodation only We can also offer 'accommodation only' prices (excluding flights, transfers and/or car hire), should you wish to make your own arrangements for this. Please contact us to check availability and prices. Please note that there is a £25 per person administration fee for all multi-centre holidays and 'accommodation only' bookings. Please click here for details and prices for some of our most popular multi-centre holiday combinations. Whether you are travelling with an infant, small child or teenager we will be happy to advise you on the suitability of your chosen accommodation. Certain riads do not accept children under 10 years old, and where this applies it is mentioned in the relevant property ‘Accommodation details’ box. Infants: An infant is a child that is under 2 years of age on the date of return travel. There is a charge of £50 per infant on all our holidays. Cots are available at selected properties and there may be a small charge for this service which we will advise you at the time of booking. Child discounts: Reductions are available on most scheduled flights for children from 2 – 11 years inclusive. Please also note that some riads and hotels offer reduced rates for children if they share the same room as their parents. Please ask us for a quotation on your chosen hotel.
Your hotel holiday price does not include:
Travel Insurance: children from 2 – 17 years pay 50% of the adult costs for insurance and infants are insured free of charge. We require that all our guests have comprehensive travel insurance when they travel, and we strongly recommend that this is taken out at the time of booking your holiday, to cover you for certain cancellation charges. Please click here for details of our comprehensive travel insurance (arranged through AXA). Please add the applicable premium to your deposit payment if taking out our insurance. If you choose not to take out our insurance policy you must provide us with the full details of your own policy at the time of booking, or before you travel. Please note that certain travel insurance offered via credit cards is not comprehensive, so please ensure you are fully covered before you travel. It is your responsibility to be in possession of a valid passport with the expiry date at least 6 months after your return travel date and of any necessary visas. EU citizens do not need a visa to travel to Morocco for visits up to 90 days. If you are a non-EU citizen then you should check with your own Embassy for the entry/reentry requirements necessary for your journey, as well as the Moroccan Embassy on 020 7581 5001 and/or Moroccan General Consulate on 020 7724 0719 for information related to visas. Please note: children not on an accompanying parent’s passport before October 1998 are now required to hold their own passport if they are under 16 years old. If you do not yet have a passport, it is recommended that you should apply for one at least six weeks before your holiday. The UK passport office has to confirm your identity before issuing your first passport and they will ask you to attend an interview to do this. At the time of going to press (September 2006) there are no vaccinations required for entry into Morocco, but please check with your local GP for up to date information. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office may have issued information about your holiday destination. You are advised to check this information on www.fco.gov.uk or alternatively call them on 0870 606 0290. The official language in Morocco is Arabic, although there are three main Berber dialects that are spoken in the Rif and Atlas Mountains. French, the legacy of the Protectorate, is the dominant business language that is widely spoken in most cities, although Spanish is still spoken in the North of the country and in the towns and surrounding areas of Tangiers and Tetouan. Islam is the established state religion of Morocco, though minority Christian and Jewish communities have managed to co-exist harmoniously. The main religious event of the Islamic calendar is the month of Ramadan, when Muslims fast from dawn to dusk, breaking their fast with dates and milk. This is followed by the Festival of Aïd (Eid). Please note that food and drink is still available to non-Muslims during Ramadan, but out of courtesy alcohol is generally only consumed in some hotel bars and restaurants. It is also customary for visitors to apply discretion and not to eat and drink in public places, during the hours of fasting. 2008 2 September – 2 October 2008 The above dates based on the Islamic Calendar and are subject to change according to the appearance of the New Moon. For religious/public holidays and festival dates please click here. Moroccan dirhams cannot be purchased prior to departure, but can be exchanged upon arrival at the airport, or at your hotel or selected riad. Alternatively, money can be exchanged at banks (no commission charged), bureaux de change and ATM machines (found in most large towns). Please note it is prohibited to export any local currency out of the country. Furthermore, the Duty Free shops at Moroccan airports do not accept Moroccan dirhams in exchange for goods (euros are accepted) so we advise that you change any remaining holiday money back into GBP sterling (or euros) before going through Passport Control.
